  • If I had one and went to buy $50.00 worth of groceries at the nearest town forty miles away, it would mean a three day trip and two hotels to get there (if the hotels had a charging station). I'd run out of power 3/4 of the way there, have to get a room while charging overnight and continue on the next day. Same on the return trip. No one can say this isn't a VERY BAD JOKE ON ALL OF US! Our tax money went not only to bail out this disaster, but paid for this asinine advertisement! Thanks Barry!

  • @leestauf dont be an idiot. the volt is hybrid electric and if you have to go further than the electric moter can take you, a gasoline generator kicks on and works like a regular gasoline vehical, with over 35 mpg

  • @wesleyweber14 not like a regular gasoline vehicle, but your right. the generator generates electricity that powers the electric motor. the gasoline generator is not connected to the drivetrain, and that's one of chevy's biggest selling points.

  • They need to got swell on their three mile trip. Not many people work three miles from home. Unless you are a Union worker for GM/Obozo

  • if people want the roar the make sound apps to simulate car sounds

  • those screens reminde me of the lincoln

  • I finally got my Volt after waiting a year. I used .8 gallons the first 500 miles and used the Sun/Solar panels to electrify it. Great acceleration too...

  • @MrEnergyCzar is this a hybrid car? and if u have full battery, how many Kilometers can u travel? and how much is the capacity of the battery? and how much does it cost u to charge?

  • @kblp It's an Extended Range Electric Vehicle or plug-in hybrid. Full battery 25-50 miles. Battery capacity is 16 KWH. You use about 10 KWH of it. It doesn't cost much for me to charge because I have one of the few net-zero solar powered homes in the world but they say about $1.50 usd for 40 mile charge.

  • @MrEnergyCzar k thanx for the reply man, i had a question regarding ur solar powerd home, r the solar pannels good? like if there is no Sun, then is there something to store it? do Air Cons and Fridge work when the sun is not shinning? and if it rains or snows heavily, will that affect the solar pannels? Kindly Reply.

  • why arent' they using capacitors if they have an engine

  • EV1 EV1 EV1 GM Volt is sh.t

GM Had and have no eggs to rebuilt a EV1 ,GM is slaves of Oilmultis and not a car builder.

  • God, this car is ugly ;P

  • thats a benz not an audi

  • I was driving my 6.0 liter work truck, and beside a VOLT at a stoplight today... great looking car 1st off, and surprisingly the thing pulled very quick off the line, it looks to make decent power. I like the car more and more.

Submit this story Thousands of car accident victims were left behind by the massive government bailouts of GM and Chrysler. The $50 billion rescue of GM and the restructuring of Chrysler allowed them to "wash away legal responsibility for car-accident victims who had won damages or had pending lawsuits," OMG just found out,NO VOLT FOR ME.

  • It's Danny from the t-shirt shop!

  • Now I want one

  • It is OPEL !

  • I'd love to see this tech in a crossover/SUV. Now the vehicle is out there 2b seen it shines......

  • I want to know how efficient the gas gernator is. I drive 850 mile trips every weekend (425 mi each way) and how much gas would I use in this car?

  • wow 10,000 miles.. want a cookie? my toaster has over 10,000 miles. I do 10,000 miles every 5 months.

  • I saw one driving a few weeks ago and thought to myself, "wait, did I just get excited about a hybrid family sedan going by the same way I would as if it were a Porsche or a Corvette? Yes." This thing really is cool. Way to go GM.

  • The Chevrolet Volt will be one of the most advanced cars on the road.

  • @heartlessvietboy Not really, the hybrid system is no more complex than a Prius. Most modest luxury and supercars have far more advanced engines.

  • @heartlessvietboy if it didnt have to use gas, maybe...

  • What do you mean=?

  • @heartlessvietboy you only get a 40 mile range, there are cars that get a lot more like tesla model s...

  • Check your odometer reading every night before you go to bed. You will be surprised about the mileage you have traveled in the day. The Tesla Model S is a great car, but it costs at least $50,000. And there is no range extender.

  • @heartlessvietboy i live in ny so i dont even drive to work... and if i did it would still be under the 100 mile range of the nissan leaf... the volt dosnt really help us break the addiction of using gas. chevy should have tried harder...but i guess it dosnt help when big oil is filling your pockets...

  • You don't ever travel out of town? Isn't it an inconvenience?

  • @ryondface i bet if it was named the chevy leftwing nut ,you would buy it

  • You would think that Chevrolet Volt Drivers would charge their car 100% of the time to get 40 miles of basically free electric drive. However when they bought the car they weren't told the average electric miles they would get is 27. 27 miles isn't worth the effort to plug-in. Neither is it even much to be dealing with the hassle of having to park your car in the garage to charge it overnight. People get lazy, they don't plug in their car. Especially when you have to do it everyday.

  • @ryondface

Then the gas generator starts up and you can then drive another 380 miles. You can drive this one across the country. Can't do that with the Nissan Leaf.

  • @70camaro406 but you can, it will just take some time...the leaf was designed for everyday work driving not cross- country driving...

  • @ryondface

LOL yeah...it would take over a month. That's the thing, though...the Leaf is a strictly "drive in the city/suburb" car, with a limited range, then you have to charge it for 8-10 hours (220V.) The Volt, on the other hand, can be your only car, since it can too be driven for city only driving, then, if need be, be driven up to another 350-400 miles. And if you need to go farther, splash a little gas in and keep going. You're limited with the Leaf, as it can't be your only car.

  • @ryondface its not necessarily that their argument against the leaf is that it cant go cross country, its just a representation that the leaf gives you anxiety. " I cant drive there cause there's no charge station and its out of range, now i have to take my original car anyway, and its really not that far from home" ext ext. The volt gets rid of that and gives you the option to go farther, because we arnt mass producing the technology to do much better.

  • @Pibbmasta the volt is a hybrid car that is being called an EV. the main purpose of a EV car is to reduce our addiction to oil. the volt keeps that addiction alive. tesla has a battery that can go 300 miles, so why cant chevy produce a battery like that ? this car has already been done...

  • @ryondface Technically though, the volt isnt a EV car, or a Hybrid, the engine within the car doesnt actually move the car like a hybrid, it only serves as a small, highly efficient generator to power the battery, which runs the car, so its actually neither one type completely. And i understand there's technology out there thats way better, and i dont know why we arnt using it, but we have something now, and we need to support it to get anywhere out of this gasoline hole.

  • lol the mercedes s class passes you at 4:00.

  • Looks like you guys were outside Hoboken at the end there, if I'm not mistaken!

  • just the most important questin on my mind about the volt was all this time running full electric or did it used some gas at all in the highway ?

  • No matter how you slice it ,Its still a hybrid car.And at some time it will have to be plugged in.Or run the engine a long time to recharge just like a hybrid.Would i buy a Goverment Motor car? Hell no.

  • @ts0yep correction A Goverment Motor car that will cost $40,000 or more so yeah I think I'll pass.

  • Don't you feel like Hitler's Volkswagen?

  • Pity the poor Toyota owners who have never experienced any other car in their lives. Toyota once a great company has fallen down miserably in the last three years over 13 million vehicles in recall and thousands of lawsuits and soon to be billions in lawyers fees. Time to trade in that Toyota while you can pretty soon you won't be able to give the death traps away. But keep drinking the Toyota koolaid guys and keep the illusion going isn't it about time you gave America a try again?

  • Love it I don't care what comes out of Europe this is whats coming out of the USA. and this is the future of the automobile. Electric is good for the intercity dwellers, but extended range vehicles are the future, its a best of both worlds. forget about the leaf or Tesla. they have their place in the market. but if its a compromises between long range and fuel economy. the VOLT has it hands down.

  • lol at 4:00 you can pass a truck, a car...and then a audi passes xD

  • @Vandebu it is a mercedes s class :D

  • @Vandebu its actually a s-class. :)

  • @Vandebu

that wasn't Audi but a Mer

  • @Vandebu

it's an s-class, not an audi, lol

  • @Vandebu Mercedes S class....

  • @Vandebu mercedes s class not audi...

  • @Vandebu

Looks like he slows back down after he reached 80. BTW, the car that passed looks more like a Benz.

  • @Vandebu : mercedes dude , it a god damn mercedes

  • @Vandebu ist it a merc S-class?

  • @Vandebu If you look closes, in no way is that an Audi, it's a newer model mercedes-benz. Just because a luxury car is black doesn't mean you can stereotype.

  • @Vandebu It's a Mercedes Benz XD

  • @nikos9742 an S :)

  • @Vandebu ITS NOT A AUDI.

  • @Vandebu sure it's not a Mercedes?

  • @gav240z it costs the same! (im a gm fan)

  • @Vandebu Hahahahahaha =D however, this is a mercedes, but still funny =D

  • @Vandebu Although, the Mercedes might have been speeding.

  • @Vandebu That will be a Mercedes S-Class. Close enough though, lol.

  • Its a mercedes s class

  • @Vandebu - Mercedes. But still funny lol

  • @Vandebu That's actually a Mercedes S-Class. Pause it at 4:07, you can see the tail lights. :)

  • @Vandebu its a mercedes s-class though! but i got your point! :)

  • RELEASE THE CAR ALREADY!!!!!

  • great vid

  • What testing has GM done to address the demands of higher elevation travel in regards to steep inclines and inclement weather driving?

People in the Mountain states are skeptical about new technology. Obviously, this vehicle will not suffer like the 70's carbureted Chevette; however, addressing the concerns of the skeptics is advisable

The car looks great so far..

  • GM can't even build basic transportation that doesn't burst into flames and burn homes down, how the hell are they going to pull this off?

  • @idontcare80 u must be reffering to ford, get your facts staight

  • @jonathan69ss Google: GM recalls fires. My facts are accurate, thank you.

  • @idontcare80 Well ford recalls fires due to the faulty harness when cruise control is left on and Toyota has way too many recalls to point one out alone, I personally have not read/heard about this chevy recall. Which vehicle and what's faulty?

  • @kicyoteefin Too many to list, Google it: GM recalls fires. Toyota has one ONE major safety recall that I'm aware of, and that's the one everybody hears about. GM on the other hand has recalls for fires on more models than I can list here, has loss of control problems due to drive wheels locking up, loss of control problems due to steering columns coming apart, loss of control problems due to front tie rods coming apart and problems with gas tanks falling off, just to name a few.

  • @idontcare80 yes but at least the cars can come to a stop when this happens =)

  • @rob16875 Yeah well, I hope that puts a smile on your face when you're burning alive in your rolling crematorium. Or, maybe, if your tie rod comes apart at 75 mph one way you might come to a stop is on your roof after rolling several dozen times. Also, Google: GM recalls brakes, it's not like GM doesn't have it's fair share of braking problems. Teehehe =).

  • @idontcare80 every automaker has its recalls serious or not lol. I completely trust my grand prix gtp with the s/c 3.8 atleast it wont accelerate uncontrollably.

  • @rob16875 It's not like those Toyotas couldn't be stopped, all the driver had to do was shift into neutral or hold down the power button, people are just too stupid to figure that out. If you would rather have your car burn your home down while you're asleep inside of it, that's your business. I, for one, would rather have a problem that I can easily do something about.

  • Looks like this car will be the first real good electric car. Might be my first if it comes to Australia like GM promised.

  • @obts10 Ahem! the first "real good" electric car was GM's own EV1

  • This Car is perfect
