hmmmm good question it is bigger and heavier but the Bb i think the keys are to close together but on a bass clarinet the keys are perfect if u ask me and i think its alot easier to play. mainly sence u dont get the melody alot so u have easier parts

yea but if ur band director is an asshole he will give u tenor parts which are harder to play usally

I would say that the only thing harder about playing a bass is that it takes a little bit more air. It's awesome though!! I love the sound quality that you get from basses, the deep tones are awesome! I just wish we'd get more parts.....

Like "Into the Storm" where I get to ahve a duet with a flute. Still, in my opinion, playing the supportive parts are really fun because you later get to listen to all the parts of the songs you like and not just the melody. Anybody can play the melody but what would be of songs without bass parts? XD

hey im in 7th grade and in 8th grade u can switch to bas clarinet, i play clarinet.... i want some advice... how much does the bass clarinet play on a musical piece.... the amount you would average out... 1 being barely any 10 being alot!! thank you

Well, it depends on the size of the band you're playing with and the instruments they use. If they are a bottom-heavy orchestra/band it could be a 3 but if they are somewhat top-heavy you could hear the difference (a 7 or 8 tops n.n)

and if u play bass clarinet, u dont realy get alot of the melede in bands, mainly back ground, unless a polka ( lol )

You usually get the low brass parts, so you play tons but you hardly ever get the melody if that's what you mean.

Once you get into high school the bass clarinets get their own part (for example in Havendance).
