Perhaps this JohnMarus does believe in the things you have attributed to him - but that doesn't mean his beliefs are Christian beliefs. Most pointedly, the idea that if you reject Christ you will be sent to hell. That's simply not true and is far too often spread about by Christians and non-Christians alike. Believing in Christ will grant you a seat in paradise. However, if you reject Christ, you will be judged on your actions in life and that will determine your fate. Big difference.
I forgot to mention, my good friend goes to college with a Mormon guy who did a 2 year tour in Japan trying to get converts. I freaking hate having them come to my house in America, Japanese people must really hate it lol.
proselytizing Christians piss me off. Being brought up Christian myself, i understand the religion and although i do not embrace it fully i would say "yes i'm a Christian", but to go out and tell others that they MUST and SHOULD convert to a religion is utter bullshit. When i when to NaritaSan Shinshoji for New Years there were 2 White people and an Asian man (possibly Japanese) with a huge sign board and loudspeaker over which they were playing something like "believe in Jesus" in Japanese.
I think it's a little unfair that you said nothing he says could change your mind. There is one thing you probably would be receptive to, that they don't currently have. Evidence.
that gravity is necessarily "proven" either. It's more like the mystical force that surrounds and binds everything and is supposed to account for every star and planet and object in the universe. Luke Skywalker's "force"... Atheism is a religion based on science fiction.
I appreciate your opinion, but I think it's very wrong-headed. Atheism is not a religion, but rather a rejection of religion.
And it's fine if you don't want to believe in science - it doesn't require your belief to be true. And since you think it's all made up, you might want to stop using a computer, driving a car, watching TV and anything else that you do on a daily basis that arises from scientific gains over the last century.
Well from the theists perspective atheism is being taught in every public school in many countries since teaching scientific theories as facts is really teaching a metaphysical worldview. In other words theoretical science is a religion sans God and I really don't see how that's fair. The only real thing that's known about gravity is that things fall. No one could ever prove that stars, planets etc could form. Evolution is false as far as i'm concerned, but I don't believe
JohnMarcus went to japan as a christian missionary to impose his religion on them.
I feel religions are more like businesses, the Catholic church alone is a multibillion dollar industry. Growing up Catholic I know how you feel Jason. When in Sunday school I would think "what is this crap they are telling me, people actually believe that". That was when I was 10! I played videogames about purple dragons collecting gems(Spyro) and even then knew religion was bogus. All it does is create conflict.
just to be clear, i have no problem with any religion and anyone should be able too believe what they want. I just wonder why they do believe some of it.
I sometimes post on the Japanese religion video he made... It's amazing to me that he believes there is going to be a large-scale conversion of the people in Japan.
exactly what yesiamanalien said goes for me too... I was brought up in a Seventh-day-Adventist family (a denomination of Christianity, but with similar restrictions to the Jewish faith), and I felt that alot of the rules didn't make any sense. The only thing that did make sense to me was that there must have been some divine power out there that started life and matter in the first place. I like having my opinion and hate how my family would try to force me to take on theirs. Thanks for posting
With me, I believe in a divine power some would call God. I believe in doing as much good as I can. I believe everyone has a right to believe what they want. Most Christians bug me because they go around being intolerant of others beliefs and seem pretty insecure of their own beliefs. I openly admit I believe in a divine power because that's me. I respect your choice to not believe. Good video btw.
Christianity, is not a "religion of the west", it's from the middle east whose immigrants spread it to civilised, Western nations by murdering natives.
Just be thankful JohnMarcus isn't subjecting the Japanese natives with similar levels of brutality and intolerance that the Christian immigrants imposed upon westerners.
Btw! It was explained to me once why some christians feel they have to convert others or tell them a lot about their faith. That person who explained it to me is a christian to, but he basically said that a lot of christians really believe that those who are not christian will not go to heaven. So what they're actually trying to do is to save those people by converting them to christianity.
The really bad thing about this i believe is that they actually assume that christianity is the only way.
I agree with you. And real muslims think islam is the only way.. etc. It's funny though, when people are promised something good in exchange for doing something, they usually go with it and don't question the real reason they are doing what was asked of them. (wow long sentence. i need more schooling LOL)
I think it really depends on how religious people are raised.. I've found that those who mostly hang out with people of the same religion usually are not very accepting of other religions. Maybe a form of xenophobia?
I have also found that all the atheists -I know- actually have religious parents. So probably atheists become more outspoken once they know how "bad" religion can be?
I guess being an atheist could have some benefits but so does having a religion. So it's a rather tough dilemma.
Even so, christians should realize that atheist don't like it when they try to "save" them. Some are even offended by it, and rightfully so. I don't believe their imaginary eternal hell exists, so I'd appreciate it if they didn't try to save me from it by annoying me to no end. I think I know best where I want to spend my imaginary second life. I wish they'd just understand that threatening an atheist with hell has about the same effect as "The boogieman's gonna get you!"
I know some people get offended by it. Those Jehova people even tend to offend other christians by trying to convert them to what they believe. I don't think there's a point in getting annoyed by it. As if they can help it. A good thing to do is basically to kindly refuse them and maybe try to explain what you believe.
And the point of trying to convert someone is less to save them from the bad and more to show them the good. Threatening with hell is something that was used in the dark ages.
As history clearly shows, "christianity" quickly morphed into a money making power scheme by ruthless criminals. The head "holy" guys ruled the world for centuries with an iron fist, using armies to
crush the "heretic" enemy. The inqisition, crusades & smashing the printing presses was part the Vaticans "war on terror".
Today the "christians" can not openly torture you into "believing" so they send out proselytizers. With their membership eroding, this is to boost profits via conversion.
I appreciate that there are other people in the world that feel the way I do and your comments are an excellent response to such a person. Simply put, Thank you Jason.
As I've stated before, I am Agnostic but sometimes feel I may be more closely Atheist. I have absolutely no problems with any other religion or anyone else believing in what they believe in. I agree with you 100% Jason. The way I look at it is if God forgives all sins but suicide, then wouldn't God forgive people for not believing in him? It angers me when people try to convert other people. Let people live how they want to live. Great video Jason, good luck with the hate mail. LOL!
...I would categorize myself as a christian agnostic.
I am using agnostic as someone who understands that it is impossible to prove or disprove anything. I think that is a problem with most theists, is that they believe they can PROVE their god exists.
This position is a bit of an interesting one though...because oddly enough...I am a little excited for the day I am (hopefully) old and die. That day when the curtain gets pulled back and we find out if we are just worm food.
I was raised in a christian household, I am and will always be a christian, yet I will never agree with christian missionary work. It has been a number one cause of conflict throughout the history of the planet. My whole family believes that if you do not know Jesus, then you will go to hell... And I have to tell you, that just doesn't settle well with me. I am absolutly facinated by other religions and countries, and have utmost respect for all of them. Most christians don't, and it's wrong.

I tried to explain that any work of writing w/o an authentic author is not something that can be trusted. As you said w/o saying, religion is altered for those in power to fit their agenda's. To be out at a Buddhist temple proselytizing Christianity is INSANE, especially during New Years, an important cultural and religious time.
If a Muslim came to a Christian church during Christmas mass or on Easter, they would be PISSED!
so its crazy that they do this to other religions and seeing them there really pissed me off.

but keep sinning in the soul
this teaching is schizophrenic
having a person believing they are both not sinning
and committing sin at the same time
its nonsense and the the double mindedness of false teaching
