  • what the f*** ??lol

  • ive never bin on a train before :/ it looks okish...

  • Excellent. I wish the trains in NYC were this nice.

  • @leonardwilson85 Thanks. These trains are new so that's why they're so clean and look modern. I've looked at quite a few videos of the NYC Subway. The trains on the N seem nice?

  • @luerexbob nice train

  • urrrghhhh yuk!, makes me cringe!,

  • cool but i prefer k stock trains

  • At present, the S Stock is on running numbers 441 and 451 between Baker Street and Watford off peak, however at around 210pm off peak, train 451 does go to Uxbridge. I went on both last week, chasing upto Wembley Park on A Stock, then crossing to southbound platform then saw train 451 in the distance, having just left! I waited for 441 up north then caught 451 back after changing perfectly at Northwood. 451 then showed Uxbridge as its destination.

  • Haven't been on one yet

But why do the seats appear to be floating? Is it so that small children can sit under them? I can't imagine there being much luggage on the met line...

But I do like the look of these trains. Most new trains I don't

    good vid

  • @Doomsday2060 This type of seating is called cantilever seating. These seats can compensate for the loss of the luggage racks that were on the A Stock. Cantilever seating also allows for easier cleaning.

  • @luerexbob

Oh yes thats it, I forgot that the A stock had overhead luggage racks. Thanks for the vid

  • I finally got on one of these into Baker Street the other day - So much smoother than the '60s stock. Every seat on the old trains is like a trampoline!

  • @hudson132 Indeed these trains are so much smoother. Will miss the A Stock though.

  • I was going to college in uxbridge when i got on one of these trains. I' glad they have new metro line trains coming out this year, i hate the current trains.

  • Everywhere I go in London on the met line, these are a major topic of discussion - "Have you been on one yet?" "No, but I've seen one!"

  • i saw on wikipedia that the s stock goes to all stations apart from aldgate.is this true?

  • @captaincoolpants11 Yes I think for now it is true

  • @luerexbob never seen one on the uxbridge branch....

  • @formulacountdown They mostly do Baker Street to Watford, but they do definitely go to Uxbridge.

  • I know the view (Harrow On The Hill) very well.... but the train just looks... wrong.

  • @zenzombie72 Haha :)

  • how many s stock trains are there right now? and when will all of them be in service?

  • how many s stock trains are there right now?

  • What was up with the doors at the end of the video?

  • @garethparr I'm not sure but it was on purpose.

  • @luerexbob I heard that these were made by the Canadian company called Bombardier. If this is true then I am so proud of them. they did a good job (from what I am seeing here).

  • makes quite a good noise

  • They look like they are the same or similar shape to the 378s

  • @globalcentralline They look nothing like a 378.

  • @CJ19Productions disagree.

  • @The25City 378s have a very much Electrostar look to them, a lot like a 376.

S8s have a VERY different design, especially in overall shape.

  • @Arriva2010 All I can say it be careful, because passenger service for the S Stock is very limited. Thanks for commenting.

  • @luerexbob

Not too limited now. they run between wembly and watford. i've been on it 3 times in 2 weeks.

  • Thank you for the ride. Are these cars air-conditioned??

  • @JeffOrnstein01 You're welcome :). And yes they are. Thanks for commenting.

  • They are 3-phase Bombardier MITRAC ECO-4 AC permanent magnet motors. Compared to the conventional MITRAC AC induction motors used on the 2009 stock, the new technology allows for less motors (can use 2 instead of 4 for example) while allowing the same performance. Permanent magnet motors are also up to around 40% quieter than traditional induction motors.

  • @luerexbob the nw londoners who grew up with the old ones, now face having to stand most of the time on the way to work. With endless announcements. The old ones had density seating for a reason!

Give them to the isle of Wight or something.

  • Why is it taking so long to roll these out. They've done all the testing right? I thought they were originally coming out summer last year. Just wondered as I've not seen one on the whole network!

  • @richbdd01 Not sure man. I know there's still a hell of a lot to do, but ah well :)

  • i don't know why, but for some reason i expect to see these on national rail in a few years time.

  • do not like!!

    take it back!!!

  • @airsupremacy Why?

  • its captaincoolpants11 again! is there only one train in servie right now?

  • @captaincoolpants11 Yeh just one.

  • nice trains, i thought the interiors would look worse than they do wheen i saw the mock up

i like the noise of the motors, they remind me of 09 tube stock and the braking of the train reminds me of 96 tube stock

  • @benGO94 Haha yeh the interior is good.

  • Nice, I have not seen these trains yet. Although i know someone that has been on a journey on one.

It is supposed to be really nice.

  • I can tell this is a good train just from the video, If my friends agree to go out I might try this and the Scania Onmicity

  • Ok, this is me showing support for england

The Goverment needs to start buying British Trains and lease them to British companys rather then trying to save money or trying to ghet money, otherwise Britian is going to have no money left, same goes for the industry

    Still its a good train

  • Ooooohhh yeah yeah yeah yeah! These better come to Uxbridge soon :)

  • @crunchynutstv I want them to come to Baker Street soon! I live in SW London so it's quite long for me to go all the way up to Wembley, Watford and Harrow!

  • i saw it too, check out my video! Great video

  • @HSTHoward Thanks.

  • i love the s stock

  • When will these enter regular passenger service?

  • @MrGriser Well they run during passenger hours but it depends whether they actually run with passengers or not.

  • no AC traction motors? or are they just drowned out by the air conditioning system?

  • @JSimp140 Not sure about that mate

  • @JSimp140 It uses 3-phase motors with IGBT inverters. Seeing as it's 100% motored axle you'd think you could hear it more - maybe when the 750v power upgrade is finished. In fact it is more audible on the train than off, unlike the 96ts and 09ts.

  • apart from the front windows

  • @shaun508124 I like them!

  • Excellent video, these trains look superb! :D

  • @HSTChris Thanks man :). And yeh they do!

  • I guess we'll just have to see if the new S-stock follows the increasing crap reputation of the new 2009 tube stock!

  • @crazydc2 Hopefully not though :D

  • thks for posting this, ive been meaning to get on this train for ages now.

  • @mrJackasshasreturned Thanks for commenting :)

  • What was the ride like? Was it smoother than the older trains?

  • @dylanpatel1 Oh much smoother than the A Stock!

  • What a beautiful train! I cant wait to see this up my end of the Metropolitan line. Its got a space age look to it. It even sounds like an aircraft when it moves off.

  • @BrendaChalfontier Indeed it is a very pleasant train!

  • this is cool!! when was this train in service?

  • @captaincoolpants11 Yesterday :). Thanks for the comment.

  • This is an amazing train and I cant wait to film it next time I'm in London!

  • interesting... not exactly the same sound as the 09 stock...

  • @FanRailer Yep :)

  • @luerexbob I wonder if they have the specifications out for both models....

  • @FanRailer Check Wikipedia?

  • @luerexbob eh, that's my semi-home site and i'd only ask around if it's not there or anywhere on google...

  • @FanRailer Ah right. Well then I have no idea haha :)

  • Oh my an actual video footage of an S Stock and not pics... :D...

also a nice whistle from the driver sounds just like the D78 Stock whistle loool...

You prefer this to the 2009 Stock (If you rode the 2009 Stock that is)

  • @jack253 Yeh I do prefer it :)

  • very good video, the S stock is really nice!

  • @wangtong04 Thanks :). Yes it is really nice. Was sad to only go from one station to another :(

  • It looks and sounds great

  • @TheBritishmike Hell yeah!

  • ur really Luck u kno :)

  • @X2K9 Well I did miss the first journey!

  • @luerexbob true . I wanna go on the new metropolitan line :)

  • @X2K9 You should :D

  • @luerexbob kl :D
