  • i'm crying :')

  • I can listen to you guys all the time now just like back at Capo High. Thank you for your music.

    April Jo Rogers

  • I used to deliver UPS packages to Gaston and Walter Georis in Carmel in the early 70's. Never had a clue that they were the Sandals. I saw Endless Summer at the Carmel Center too. Walter had a Birkenstock store and I think Gaston was Casanova Restaurant in Carmel. It was many years ago..still a very cool tune..many mahalos R

  • "The Endless Summer" and "On Any Sunday," two of my favorites!

  • Being around the age of Bruce and the Sandals (generally) this brings me back to the halceyon days of my youth (LOL), Being from Bridgeport, Ct. I'm not trying to tell you I was a beach bum but I really liked this movie and soundtrack and have brought it with me thoughout my life in a way of whenever I need to shed myself of the daily accumulated stresses of life I put this track on and unwind totally. Which is what I'm doing right now. Thanks for that!

  • I saw the film before there was a sound track. I was 18 and moved to Hawaii summer 1965 to attend UH in fall for what was going to be 5 heavenly years. That summer,non-surfers took me to (Punahou High School ?) to see "a film about surfing." Bruce Brown was on stage narrating with music the future Endless Summer sound track. I bought a new, custom made 8'10" board by Hobie's from a NY kid at UH in fall. Mentored by the best (new friends), I eventually rode 18' waves with Doyle, Pomar, Sweet.

  • gosh, what a great time to be alive, california in the 60s and 70s...thanks lads. a grandma fan.sigh...

  • So relaxing. play this every time I go surfing.

  • This song is embedded in so many people's head...many like myself, who were stuck in The Midwest saw the flick, and them dreamed about surfing the world. just as powerful 45 years on.Many thanks!

  • When I think of my middle school years growing up in Daytona Beach, Florida in the mid 60s, this song always comes to mind -- sort of the sound track for those years, "after all these years," as they say. By the way, I love that maple neck Jazzmaster! Thanks for putting this up on Youtube.

  • Great clip. Thanks, guys.

  • Every summer on the last night before school I watch this movie, just got done watching it. Thanks for something to look forward to during the school year :)

  • This is one of my all-time favorite songs. The Summer of '66 was one of the best times of my life, thanks, in part, to this great movie and song. That song has remained in my mind all these years, and I was so happy to see it on youtube. You guys are awesome!

  • I can slap a collection of disaster videos on this theme and it will still bring me peace.

  • Such a casual, laid back tune....takes me back to a more peaceful time! Thanks guys

  • what a great tune, always one of my favorites. as a so cal native i can think of no better song that represents the 60's surf era...basic chords to play along with...cmajor dmajor...right around 2:15 the bridge comes in, can anyone tell me what those chords are ??

  • This is such a great song :) The Endless Summer is such a awesome movie, and that movie is a true surfing movie.

  • Does anyone know the name of the song that plays during the Hawaii scenes near the beginning of the movie? It has lots of violin in it, trumpets too, but no guitar. Can't find it anywhere.

  • Great film and great song. It really defines that era and generation. Wish we could return to those times. Thanks so much for posting this.

  • The Cape St Francis takes with this song and accompaniment of xylophone and clarinet are awesome. I watch this flick at least twice a year. A great feeling movie.

I grew up with Bruce's On Any Sunday and didn't find this one until later. Love em both. You are one of my heroes Bruce. You Sandals too!

  • I remember watching Endless Summer 2 as a little kid. Such an awesome movie, really inspired me to start surfing and bodyboard

  • I was 12 when I saw this movie in the theater...LOVED it!!!

This song flashes me back to such a sweet, simple time growing up in Miami. I'm posting it day in celebration of the 1st day of summer! :)

  • it's called a Clavietta or melodica...

perhaps on the internet or ebay..

    good luck

    The Sandals

  • I want to cover this song SO BAD with my band Outerwave. Where can I find one of those toy wind/keyboard things.

  • The ocean always lie in my heart even days away from it. I hear this song when I'm falling asleep. Almost like it's playing right next to my ear.

  • Was the keyboard part in the recording played on a melodica.... or....?

  • Does anybody have a video showing how to play this song?

  • Yeah! This is all about having found the right people at the right time and being in right place together (California forever, but this occurence happens all over our great world). A fantastic song for an unforgettable film. Thanks You Boys!

  • I'll say it again, "MAGIC"

  • How could there have been five dislikes? Those were the five Taliban guys in a cave in Pakistan?

  • This'll be my theme for this Easter holiday :)

  • Takes me back to better times. I so enjoyed the days when music of various genres ...Rock & Roll, Country, Pop Ballads, Instrumentals (movie themes, Ventures, Acker Bilk, Percy Faith...)...all had a chance to make the Top 40 on AM radio. Thanks for the great post...thanks for the great song...and thanks for the special memories...Tunesmith

  • This song made this movie! Thank you so much for great memories.

  • Not only does this song make think of all the great waves ive had ,and the sessions im going to have, but it remins me of one of the best days in my life. the day i married my wife Mandy , she surpised me with it when we wailed into our reception 15years ago.( how cool was that ! )

  • Just wanted to post a comment to say thank you for this song. I listen to it every day

  • Thank you so much for posting this.

I can remember the song way back when the movie first came out during the late 1960s.

Great tune and I love it very much.

  • Everyone one really should listen to The Sandals soundtrack for "Last of the Ski Bums" - 1968. "Winter Spell".....absolutely beautiful instumental. I just digitized my vinyl copy. This soundtrack is so different from the 1964 Endless Summer and more intune with the acoustic based releases coming out of their Tri-Surf label since the 1990s.

  • makes me think of the life that ive always wanted chasing the endless summer around the world surfing. and now im finally living it! this is prolly my all time favorite song

  • There are no words I can use to express how moving this song is and how great of a mood it puts me in! The Endless Summer just may be the best film along with one of the most purest surf tunes ever written. I hope I have the honor to see you all play one day!

  • This is the song and movie that changed my 45 year journey threw life. I'm a surf photographer living on the North Shore now with a surf video channel on YouTube as well. Thanks for the inspiration, I'll do what I can to carry the torch and inspire. Those were the days my friends. Aloha and mahalo...

  • Ahh, my favorite song from my favorite album! Just awesome!!!

  • Thanks for your support...... It's great to see that this song has touched the hearts of

    so many people...

    The Sandals

    TRI SURF RECORDS

  • this song is amazing. without a doubt the essence of surfing! i love surfing, i love the sandals, and i love the endless summer!

  • Sandals truly an American icon.. You guys are hero's and pioneers. Just like The Ventures.. I was born in 86 but I listened to this when I was riding my motorcycle down the Hawaiian coast.. I swear I could feel haven... Thank You...

  • awesome!

  • HOW ABOUT A COPY OF Lonely Girl ??

  • The perfect soundtrack for the movie. I'm convinced that the 60s was "the" era for instrumentals. What with The Sandals, Duane Eddy, Jack Nitzsche, The T-Bones, and The Routers.

  • The greatest music ever!!!

  • Beautiful music...

  • BRUCE BROWN'S, THE MAGIC OF THE SURF MOVIES...

  • @manthega2 Toca pra mim, numa noite de lua cheia e quando estiver apenas nós dois...

  • The late Ward "Pally" Austin, a DJ on a several Sydney radio stations used this theme as his intro. I was just a tiny kid, but had fond memories of that.

  • Can someone message me and advise how I can put this in my favorites on my Youtube page please. That would be appreciated.

  • I spent 2 1/2 years living and surfing on Oahu starting in 1964. It was the best time of my life. I came home to Michigan just as the Endless Summer and your absolutely beautiful soundtrack was released. This simple D to C instrumental is a perfect match to Bruce Brown's masterpiece. The two combined works were instilled in the hearts of every surfer of the period and brought surfing to the main stream the world over. Thank you for preserving my memories with this video.

  • This music is the greatest... brings back such memories and nostalgia .... watched this clip about 5 times over and over.... then noticed electric guitar not plugged in... lip synch... how disappointing

  • Kept thinking that it was the Ventures...glad to finally find it....

  • Hi SandalsBand: Thanks for posting the video's. I happen to have an original album - taped it on cassette and played it to death - played it to people who didn't have a clue about the world of surfing culture.

The coolest surf music ever composed. What an epic time when this all happened. My kids even get the vibe and know it was such an over the top piece of surf film - art and music.

    Thanks again.

    Scottie from Boston

  • Legends in easy listening and mellow surf. Music Hall of Fame stuff.

  • SHAPED the movie is the official opening film for the Southern California Film Festival. The film will be showing on Sept 28th 2010. Screening at 7:00 pm

    Come and check it out!!

  • @thesandalsband . Can you please tell me the maker/model of that melodica? Soooo beautiful!

Thank you for your great tunes.

  • I remember looking at the liner notes to Endless Summer. It seemed the Sandals would go on their way and Endless Summer to the bargain racks and rummage sales. 46 years and counting it's remained a classic. Thanks guys!

  • i think green day were inspired when they did their song "last ride in",

    check it on youtube too.

The leadguitar sounds nearly exact like this one.

    Alltough great song

  • Really nice...love the V dubs ...great clip ...

  • when i hear this song i not only see the endless summer movie in my head, but i think to so many surfing sessions ive had. like the sunset session in puerto rico where the local bar had a band covering this song and it you could hear it in the lineup. i will be getting no work done for the rest of the day

  • How it was and how it should of always been. But thats OK, I keep it living like it was. :D

  • The Endless Summer soundtrack is worn out!! I played it so much, it eventually just got fried. So I have no favorite cd anymore. I Wanna buy a new one, or get it from iTunes but I can't... Wherezit?!

  • After all these many years this movie still hypnotizes me and this theme is totally perfect. Every time.

  • Righteous! Holy! Thank you.

  • hey everyone check out my new surf doc SHAPED the movie.com

new Sandals music and music from the next generation from Max Georis

  • If he got that theme for free, then it was one HELL of a deal! One of the best in movie history, perhaps.

  • I love this song. It take me back to my old beach days from Newport Beach to Seal Beach. I would learn how to boogy board, body and sand surf. Now I live in the middle of Colorado. In July, I hope to visit my old stomping ground and do some body or boogy boarding surfing.

  • It's a melodica.

  • what the instrument that has the keys and mouth piece

  • The Endless Summer, the ultimate adventure, searching the island for the perfect food experience....

  • Too bad there isn't a backing track for this to play to or if there is, please let us know.

  • Probably the most Fitting and most Beautiful Surf song ever written. I saw Endless Summer when it opened, I was 16 years old at the time. This song was one of the main things I will never forget from the movie. Hearing this song always reminds me of sitting on the beach with my girl.... Thank you guys for such a wonderfull time. Oh yeah, I'm now 60 years old!!! Regards Sonny

  • Growing up in San Clemente we danced to the Sandals many, many weekends. Not just great musicians, but great guys to know. Although I was younger, they were always cool to talk to during our dances at the old Catholic church in SC.

  • Super duper video and music. I remember seeing the original Endless Summer film in Boston back in the 60's when it first came out. I was fortunate to get the original Endless Summer 33-1/3 album on e-bay a few years back....still listen to it. I'm 65 and still surf in RI/MA. I'm glad that you three guys are still together and put out the good "tunes."

    Aloha - Tom...

  • We "old farts" can still show you a thing or two. And to think, no bycicle horns or police whistles, Just pure guitars. This is music. =Stefan=

  • awesome.. i loved & lived this..

robert, sam, & weaver are friends.. i loved surfing texas w/ them... ask the about my BBQ...oh yeah Pat Magee..

  • One of the best songs and movies of all time! and it brings back memories of the old Casino in San Clemente when you guys used to play there. I also still have your old 45 "Always I Will Remember" from that era - from Leo Fessenden's House of Music! John Gibson lived up the street from me and Walter, you gave me my first guitar lessons at the above named music store. Cool to see this on You Tube!

  • @maccabarb I remember going to the Casino for the dances. What great times back then. Now I am considering them for our 50th Class Reunion from Capo!!! Go Cougars!

  • Your song influenced my surfing and skateboarding style. I started surfing in 1971 after watching Endless Summer in a theater in Rio de Janeiro Brazil. The theme song impressed me so much. Beautiful. I remember going skateboarding and thinking about the melody to inspire my skateboarding.

I still listen to it these days and it just gets more beautiful as time passes by.

    Thank you!!!!

  • i love this song and this movie

  • most unforgetable tune from my youth in 66

  • Esta é a Minha Praia HE HE HE...

  • Aloha Brother!!!

  • Walter Georis is the man!

  • It is called a clavietta...neat sound, eh?

    Aloha from RI...

  • the movie is a CULT- the music also! simply a CLASSIC!!!

  • wow this is for real! What a song. Been looking for this for years (I'm slow). -=This movie and song had major impact on my life.I was a young surfer and music lover. Now I'll definitely hook up some Sandals music. I didn't realize they played in the second Endless Summer film also .= every time has it's bad and good..but man things were good back then.

  • Hit the wrong key. Jones Beach is on Long Island.

  • theendlesssummer64: Great vanity plate for a great movie! I saw this movie at the Kips Bay theater in Manhattan where it played for almost a year. Just shows that everybody wants to be a surfer. Even folks from cold dirty old New York City. NYC and Long Island are not exactly a surfing meccas, but I do have many fond memories of body surfing at West End 2 at Jones Beach(Lond Island).

  • This is such a great movie, a nice simple entertaining flick. I'll watch the movie a couple times a year just to relax and enjoy simple summertime fun. I liked the movie message so much, when I just got a new vanity plate for my car, it reads"ENDLS SMR"

  • @theendlesssummer64 My favorite movie of all time.. That and Step in to Liquid.. I remember I just broke up with my girlfriend after 4 yrs and was alone. No friends or nothing.. Just this movie and my dvd player.. It was cold here in NY about 12 degrees. This movie put me in to another place.. Within a month I had it and took a trip to Hawaii alone but got a new life..

  • Incredible song. The mellow rhythm progression accompanied by the soft, and hopeful lead melody reminds me of the sun coming over the water on a glassy, A-frame morning. One of my favorite songs of all time. Truly a masterpiece.

  • @MondoBone

Exrremely well said. My sentiments exactly

  • Wow John with a Jazzmaster. Where's the Gibson from the record cover?

  • You noticed!!

John Gibson has not been part of The Sandals for many years now. The group consists of three of the original 5 members.

    Thanks for watching

    The Sandals

  • God I LOVE THIS SONG!!!! More than any Beach Boys song, more than Jan and Dean, more than ANY of them, this song IS the beach, the sand the surf to me. Always get a little depressed at the end of summer and I hear this. I have heard this song since I was a youngin'......being 50 now, it still takes me back. Love it, love it and LOVE IT more. Great Jazzmaster.

  • I love this song sooooooo much.

Do musicians like these still EXIST?

    I certainly hope so!

  • Best old school surf movie! This is one of the greatest songs of all time too, great job Sandals!

  • This great song takes you back to different times when things were all good, simple and easy. The feeling this song still gives a sense of calm, beauty and serenity to this day in a world way different from which it was born. Thanks so much sandals!

  • very well said. It has an extremely mellow and relaxing affect on the listener.

  • This song is eternal and takes you to a place we all want to be... I am proud to perform it with The Aquamarines.

  • First saw the movie on British t.v. in the seventies.I have loved this tune ever since

  • Grandes lembranças do surf na adolescencia

  • Espectacular!!!

Pasan los años y solo mejora...

  • First heard this while sailing off the South Atlantic Coast and then over to the Western Gulf.......1967.........Yes, the song and the thoughts in that context (recall watching surfers off South Padre Island) are something surreal.

  • i from greece, is good

  • good song, good feeling, good memories.

  • awesome !! that was the time i wanted to life.... too bad... it surely was a good time inbetween the 60´s !!

  • One year ago I commented on this song.

Now, I finally have the time to listen to it again.

I first heard it during the late 1960s.

    It is timeless and BEAUTIFUL.

    Thank you for posting.

i´ve been 4 weeks in south england and lived the typical livestyle as a surfer boy. after i bought the dvd "endless summer" this whole thing is much more fascinating to me and my pal... we saw so much old vw dubs and boys who still searching for the perfect wave.. this tune is dedicated to all lovers who livin or lived the dream.. my dream is to get a vw dub samba from back in the days and live the way of " the life is a beach"...

    greetz from germany !!!!!!

  • I grew up watching Endless Summer whenever it was on local Los Angeles television and I have to say that this is BY FAR my favorite surf tune. Simplistic yet very effective. I defy anyone, unless you live in say Vermont or Road Island to not want to pack up you 21 window VW bus, your longboard and head on down to Redondo or Huntington Beach and just bask in "The Warmth of THe Sun". Ahhh, those were the days my friends.

  • Never fails to get my stoke up...I want this song played at my final paddle out.

  • Man, you guys inspire me :) Love this!

  • man this music just chills you right out... can't beat it

  • Excellent, very Shadows like......

It's not on iTunes UK - thanks

  • Thanks for your interest,,

you can get the CDs from Tri Surf Records Carmel Cal

  • most excellent :)

  • WOW! This song says it all about a lazy summer day, especially an afternoon as the sun is setting.

You could be on a surfboard, motorcycle, in a car, on a road bicycle, mountain bicycle, on a jog/run, and just the way the sun hits you, you feel this song come out of you.

Oh one more, is out on the porch, drinking a cold one (be it ice water, lemonade, Coke/Pesi, beer, whatever) and you watch that sun set. Just like at 3:06.....

    Who all felt that?

  • Wow!! And posted by the original Sandals! Thanks for The Endless Summer,an Endless Classic!

  • thee archetypal Surf instrumental ballad

  • This song can really bring some peace to me at a moments notice. The video is pretty rad too. I hope you all have the best days of your life today.

  • I totally agree. When ever I am having problems with relationships or school, I just listen to this and everything is alright.

  • i dont surf but i skimboard and whenever i go to the beach I think of this song. Its so surfliciouse!(I know that isn't a word)

  • ha ha fuck yes!! fellow skimboarder rock the fuck on!!!

  • I used to surf back in the seventies. I also own the original soundtrack on vinyl.

  • nice i surf so i feel the bond

  • after everthing is said and done in surfing, i think this would have said it all

  • Is there any sheet music for the movie? Especially this song.

  • i kid you not.. this song is in my head everytime I paddle out.

  • I love this song and movie!!!!

I have the CD ( which anyone can buy , if they choose to) Takes us back to a time when the beaches weren't over crowed or "sub divided" for fascists beach front homes!! Why did "our" government allow it? To screw us over! As usual!!!

  • ha ha fuck yeah dude!!!

  • I'm not a surfer but I've loved watching surf movies and listening to the music since 1963.

This could be regarded as the signature tune of surf movies and music.

  • I grew up surfing in the 60's in so.cal and this song more than any other makes me relive those days...thanks guys for being a great part of my life...it's good to hear this again...

  • Oh man...this takes me back...I'm 62 and I grew up surfing on the So.Cal. beaches and met Mike and Robert at a contest in Oceanside around the time Endless Summer came out...this was the first song I learned to play on the guitar...still love it...thanks guys for being a great part of my life...

  • The day I saw the movie and heard the song stands out in my mind like it was yesterday. I was in 6th grade. I'm 55 and have been surfing since I was 9 years old. It is my favorite song of all songs, period. Been playing guitar for 32 years and just last March in Costa Rica, learned to play it , rhythm and lead. Now I'm a happy man......Thanks guys for the joy in my heart.

  • Goodmango

makes us happy that we have connected through music and the love for the ocean..

  • Wow- is that really you guys? Cool.....best part is that this wave goes on and on and on. My music/surfing/ocean friends and I will continue to play and hear this song and share the wave with others........this song is totally a gift you have shared.

  • @13goodmango - goodmango what a wonderful comment! Makes me smile to read your story. :) I love this song.

  • @MaddensRaiders That is exactly what I mean. So go share your smile......enjoy

  • WOW !! What terrific, white soul music. I lived in Santa Barbara in the early 80's & this music captures the soul perfectly. A surfing music masterpiece.....Atop Ventures or Beach Boys. A real classic amongst classics. Thank-you, men, for dropping this time capsule [this music contains great ideals] when I could really use it. There are some good men still in this murderous, Zionist country who've preserved a few great ideals that we can use today. THANKS !!

  • This song is sooo SURF!!! I have loved it since it was recorded!!! ha ha

  • Can't get enough of the video, song, everything! Thanks!

  • A true american folk song for generations. Thanx guys for writing such an inspiring piece of Americana . ... Johnny

  • This song is not only the best surf song ever but the best pop instrumental ever. This song made Bruce Brown's captivating saga much richer. I remember laying in my bunk after a hard day of Army basic training during the Vietnam era and playing this song in my mind to hypnotise me to sleep and take me to a better place. Endless Summer was more of a fantasy than a documentary. Both the movie and song were FANTASTIC at that. Endless Summer Forever, Bruce Brown, and the Sandals forever!

  • A work os beauty now if I could only find the sheet music so I could learn it. This is among the greatest works of surf rock their is. Thanks I give it a 99.999 out of 100. (For lack of sheet music for us amateurs.)

  • Yes, I remember Gary P. Didn't know him--but always saw him in the surf contests at the Canaveral Pier. There were a lot of really great surfers in my area at that time. Lary Pope used to live on my street & shot some photos for Surf Magazine.

  • Yes, I remember the Shark Pit! But I usually surfed off E. Gadsden, which was several streets S of the Canaveral pier. Fourth Street S & 2nd Light (PAFB) were also great spots...
