  • 2:20 was brilliant!

  • How are you executing the "train whistle" at 1:45? Are you over blowing???

  • Fantastic playing! 'Course I really haven't dabbled in the more advanced techniques myself, so what do I know?

May I ask, what kind of flute are you playing?

  • you make it look so easy!!!!!!!

  • you play this really well:) my only suggestion is to make the multiphonics more...well...multiphonic, if you get what i mean...

  • Tchou...Tchou...

  • Yah his foot joint is a Bb foot

  • o.o Marry me?

  • ian clarke actually played this at my school on oct 4th 2011

  • @imangoed actually, I think it's a B, because if you listen a little after the beginning, he plays a low B.

  • C or Bb

  • @imangoed Definitely a B foot. Take a look at 00:48 when the camera zooms in, there are three tone holes on the foot rather than the two found on a C foot. Also @maplegrove1998 : flutes with the Bb foot are fairly rare these days - I've only ever played one, and they typically have an extra key for the left pinky near the G# key in order to accommodate the low Bb.

  • what foot joint is he using

  • i soo wish that I could play like that it would be sooo much

  • if that was me i would have started crying then died at the end

  • Im so jelly!

  • SOOO AMAZING love ittt!!!

  • bravo!

    you just look to serious!

  • That was absolutely stunning. This must have been such a mission to try and learn! but you've perfected it and all the work you clearly put into it has paid off big time. it was absolutely spotless. Keep making music :)

  • Go Justin~~~! lol

  • This is actually a really top quality rendition of this piece. One of my favourite on youtube :)

One thing I would say though, is that you try not to always look at the music. It's a performance piece, you should look at the audience from time to time.

Well, that's what I've been told by judges at competitions when i've played it there. Nice one though :) -Alice

  • are you a student at conservatory?

  • Great job! love the crisp articulation and attention to details. keep up the good work.

  • You should put more vids on, you're good (:

  • Hey Justin! Im Anna, that person that was in your music exam haha. Guttered that you didn't play this at the competition, you play it really well. What sort of flute do you play on?

  • Yup that was me (: I won the Intermediate Section. I saw u play, u were really good (:

  • Yes I was! It was my first time up there - just seeing what goes on etc. Did you perform in the Young Musicians' competition?

  • Hey you were in the gisborne international music comps!

  • You played that really well

  • Young, Up and coming, Keep it up :o)

  • I have to admit this isn't my fav of Ian clarkes but you do this piece plenty of justice. You should be very proud of yourself. Very impressed. 5 stars for you...dee :)
