While I love this video, there are also a couple of things that bother me about this...

First - that announcer. Oh. My. God. I'm not sure if it's his voice or the interjections telling the audience to cheer louder which annoyed me more.

Second - the idea that sacred dances have shifted into the equivalency of sports. Don't get me wrong - I'm all for learning the dance and passing it on, but turning this into a competitive structure bothers me.

Love that he explains it beforehand, though. :)

I enjoyed this, but yet it made me sad to think of how such a culture is slowly disappearing and instead being used for amusement.....Native American culture is so sacred and the modern Western culture needs to take away more from it then pure entertainment.

If you saw our complete presentation you would find that it focuses on cultural diversity, sharing our culture in a very possitve light and breaking down the walls of that separate all cultures. By putting a smile and good feelings in the hearts of the spectators we are taught that we are sharing the blessings of life. The dance is a great way of truly opening the eyes of people to the beauty of our native culture. Thanks.

good dancer.. my 2 yr old granddaughter LOVES pow-wow , she listen's to it all day an has been dancing for quiet a few months now.. n this Ga Mom encourages her an dances with her, tho i aint ever been a dancer .. i am Prod of her.. Omg this is awesome!!! I'm a hoop dancer too but I put my hoops away this summer and go fancy :) No videos of me though... Oh well next year!
