i lived in iowa city and went to school at grant wood where i think the tornado started at, i moved to CR after the flood in 93, i remember this happening in 06 cause my brother in-laws were working at Carousell on Hyw 1 and they called my sister and said that they could see it coming acrossed they airport and that they were taking cover, then the phone went blank and you could hear glass shattering and people yelling...... thank god not a lot of people got hurt
do you know why tornadoes cant formate in citis?because they dont have enough space to form!olso, they can form on a hill or something and than to hit a city.Happy Easter to all \m/!!
I was at my brother's house off Lower Muscatine Rd. when that happened. I'll never forget the sound when it hit downtown. Just happy no one died in that one!
lol i scared my twin sister bad that day :D. twin sister: guys please! go in the basement we are gonna die!*sob sob* lol! that was pretty scary though. but i was playing my gamecube upstairs
that day many twist & turns i remember cause me & my brother & his friend we were stuck inside the movie theater & i remember getting a call saying don't go out at 1st i'm like tell me this isn't happening i was scared as fuck
wow, I still remember this night, I just got home from track practice, and they put out storm warnings, it was such a weird night how the weather change so fast that day, and its still weird to go through downtown knowing what had happen to it that night
I'll never forget this night...My grandmother and mom got home from church just as the electricity went out. And we had to go into the creepy down stairs (other my mom and I did as I cried since my Gma, dad and dog refused to join us) and then when it was done our house was fine but the sority down the street was like a doll house. And I just remember being up late calling each of my friends and getting calls from them making sure all of us were safe and okay.
Call me dumb here but...the storm knocked out power as it appears yet the stop lights are still flashing...how is this possible?Just curious..where I live if the power goes out so do the stop lights..just wondering how yours actually can function after something like this.we could use that technology here.
I walked through downtown 15 minutes after it went through to get home from a friend's house. A few street lights worked, but most of the light was provided was by trucks. All the building had no power.
ever heard up backup, emergency city power generators, dumbass???its a university town...we need them in case power goes out in the hospital and somebody's heart rate monitor or respirator goes out of power so that THEY DONT' DIE!
that was a really scary night for me and everyone...my friends houses got smashed, and our school had no electricity so we had no school. and we helped clean up neighbor hoods
i live just north of iowa city in solon and my sis was at the hospital when it happened with some of her friends she happened to park in a different place than she normaly would and she went past were she normaly wouldve parked later that night and all the cars were smashed into each other and overturned

@cwhale06 a woman did die; in Muscatine County, 20-miles away; by the same storm; I think the tornado touched down again; it was kind of up and down.

The start of the clip looks like it could be in a tornado safety commerical or a movie with the music and how you positioned the camera.
