  • The Beatles were and always will be the best band ever!

  • hahahaa ice age

  • I once had an idea - g-l-a-d.com - it saves time, gas = money - please help.

  • Listening to this some forty years on, and it's every bit as good as when they first performed it. This is genius alright. And you wont find it in any pop format on offer today. Forget it! Only one Lennon and Macca - only one Beatles.

  • @raceching macca?

  • @SagradaMascarita Paul McCartney

  • @Luxmaxnike ye kinda figure that out

  • BEATLES DO XUDER

  • Hail George Harrison!

  • i had a girl and she bossed me around

  • /watch?v=J6iAykoKLog&feature=related

  • It's not quite the first one. "See My Friends" by The Kinks, which came out four-ish months before, had a distinct Indian sound, but this is the first one to have a sitar. Gorgeous songs, both of them.

  • @MargotMilevaZ

"Heart Full of Soul" by the Yardbirds was released before see my friends

  • What a song - Ravi Shankar and Anil Baghwat pure artistry.....and my favourite group of all time.....Paul's falsetto is brilliant... you will be missed boys....xx

  • haruki murakami :)

  • A dollshouse, like if you know what i mean.

  • Beautiful song by a band I often overlooked. It's my favorite Beatles song. I just wish it weren't so short.

  • Tokyo Blues

  • this song is mere magic to me! ^^

  • For me, this song represents someone that I lost and loved just too much, it brings back many good memories... the other day that I was eating lunch and Norwegian Wood started playing on the speakers of the restaurant I couldn't stop a tear falling from my eye. Now I understand how Toru, the character from Haruki Murakami's book, must had felt on that airplane.

  • omg! rainy mood is the shit! :D

  • George on sitar... AMAZING!

  • its so enchanting

  • what was the rumor about this song that Lennon was saying he was a cheating on his wife by not really telling her but i got to say the song is a clue thats what i think

  • only The Beatles could write an epic song like this, still very good 46 years later, RIP John Lennon and George Harrison

  • This was my first LP as a 7 year old in 1965 and this was my favorite tune. Incredibly, I just noticed its a waltz - that's right folks, its in 3/4 time.

  • @DreamsCumTrue469 It is a waltz but it is actually in 6/8 time.

  • @baxtersave96 Dont confuse waltz with 3/4. Not every 3/4 song is a waltz. So as not every waltz is entirely 3/4.

  • @piccinini02 Well obviously you are not going to see people dancing a waltz to it.Most musicians however know that when you say waltz you are refering to a song in the time signatures I mentioned

  • @piccinini02 I'm a music major in college and it is definitely in 6/8 time. This could well be a waltz if someone wanted to dance to it in that way I guess. It's just the style and time signature that would make it a waltz type song.

  • @heathermaria247 Thank you. Not that I needed such justification because I play guitar mysef and I knew I was right but it's nice to have some confirmation

  • I don't care what anyone says, The Beatles were easily the best fucking band of all time.

  • Golliwogg APPROVES of this song.

  • The arrangement on this song is beautiful. The harmonizing starting at "She asked me to stay and she told me to sit anywhere" is perfect.

  • i like the name of the uploader

  • @punkvictim hahahahahahahaahahaha yeah!!

  • This is the 83rd best song ever made.

  • Isn't this song influenced by a Bob Dylan song ? If so and anyone knows the Bob Dylan song I'd appreciate the info.

  • 2 people got upset after i humped there moms to this song

  • That second dislike? That was from me. I accidentally clicked it! D: I'M SORRY!!!

  • @tombkreeper3 Fix it! Fix it right now!

  • @tombkreeper3 I think we can forgive you. We'll try.

  • @tombkreeper3 It sux how you can't Undo those 'little accidents'

  • @tombkreeper3 if you like it it cancels out the dislike it think

  • Nah, I think Cynthia disliked it.

  • @itsbridgetlogann

Most likely. It's a song about an affair of John's after all.

  • @flwhrtrb90 Sales don't matter. The music does.

  • Who's the person that disliked this?

  • Is this Stereo?

  • NORWAY POWER!!!!! xD

  • Really? Only 113, 276??

  • 2 comments....this song is about an affair john lennon had with a german model who was married to one of the beatles photographers. she claimed they had a 2 year affair.

2nd dont know anything about justin bieber but what i do know is he is about 2 billion in sales behind the beatles. elvis might be the king of rock and michael the king of pop but the beatles are gods of music especially since the beatles have sold more than elvis and michael combined.

when bieber passes elvis let us know.

  • Beatles are my all time favorites. this song just another example of their artistic excellence combined with musical genius.

  • I dont think ringo is in this i thought it was just George on the sitar and johns acoustic and vocals:/ This song is amazing!

  • @MrChickenstew2 I think he was on Tamberine

  • Ringo sounds great in this song.

  • @dandaily4 i can,t hear ringo in this only john

  • @MrMGD92 That was the joke. I was implying that, because Ringo did not contribute to the song, he sounds good. So to speak, I was insulting Ringo.

  • @dandaily4 o,h sorry.its very hard to tell a joke like that on the internet..

  • @MrMGD92 Haha, I don't blame you! But don't worry, I'm not that much of a moron... I hope.

And I was just kidding. Ringo is awesome! Even though he didn't play in this song.

  • @dandaily4 ha i was saying you failed in telling your joke;)it was nothing to do with me;) yes ringo is great.

  • Who the fuck is Justin Bieber!?!?!?!? >.<"

  • @5thfemalebeatle

Do yourself a favor and don't ask.

  • Beiber with the cereal bowl haircut has already had his 15 minutes of fame.... adios douchebag!

  • What a beautiful song, one of my favs from The Beatles

    -Everyone

  • buen cancion..muy buena filosofia..y esta entre las mejores 500 canciones de la historia

  • justin barber will be forgotten this time next year its a joke-beatles fannatic

  • @JamesTKirkCobain No you have it wrong. Justin Beiber thought these guys a.k.a. THE BEATLES looked friggen awesome. Thinking he/she could possibly pull off the look and maybe attract fans. He failed.... Epicly

  • Justin Beiber wrote this that why these dudes have the same hair cuts as him

  • @JamesTKirkCobain Never...Say that...Again...

  • @JamesTKirkCobain the first comment including justin bieber that truly make me laugh :D thanks!!!!!

  • @JamesTKirkCobain Justin Bieber, who the fuck are you talking about?

  • @JamesTKirkCobain Oh yeah huh, that's why this song came out 29 FREAKIN YEARS before Bieber was even born. Get you're math right.

  • @JamesTKirkCobain No way you r confused with Justin tv

  • @JamesTKirkCobain ha yes of course he did.never mind the small fact it was realeased 29 YEARS before the beibs was born.you idiot.

  • My 2 Favorite Bands???

    The Beatles

Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band

  • @94raymer94 Haha clever my friend

  • I Love this song so very much

  • i think of the japanese movie when i hear this song! it's awsome!

  • This song is so beautiful! George Harrison= Sitar Hero.

  • Can someone explain this song to me please.

  • @gypsiecat1 It was a one night stand, don't over spiritualize

  • @travisbailey1964 Thankyou! I wasn't over spiritualizing. I'm just confused why he burned her house down. =D

  • @gypsiecat1 In one interview PM said (yes, I know JL wrote and sang it, but PM made this statement) that as the boy did not get anything from the girl, he slept in the bathtube and the following day she was gone, the boy had to have a revenge, so he burnt the apartment, and JL kinda finish the phrase, meaning he agreed with the explanation.

  • @bonitodia1

john slept with the wife of a friend of him and canthia, then wrote a song about it right under her nose, everybody knew it except for her.

  • @OropherThranduil yep, poor Cynthia !! ....but what a beautiful song...."So I lit a fire, isn't it good, Norwegian Wood".......also a song about the sweet leaf, as well as a one night stand...

  • @travisbailey1964 Because he probably woke up with one hell of a case of blue balls and was pissed. :-p

  • The sitar in this song is absolutely genius!!! I lov it!

  • the sitar bit is nice n all, but that acoustic guitar is really lovely, especially that wonderfully emotive opening riff...

  • I want to see Reiko Ishida play this...

  • @lingnemesis That'll be 100 yen, please!

  • @ecd82 *hands the 100 yen over*

Heh, great to see a Murakami reader here. =)

  • @lingnemesis Murakami <3 My favourite author. Norwegian Wood is of course a personal favourite.

  • @kampori Good taste, kampori.

  • haha, this is THE very first song i played live in front of people. epic = beauty days.

  • i freakin love the sitar. :)

  • evidently the one person who disliked this, their bird has not flown

  • @15clays and they are kept awake every fucking night by its whistling

  • My favorite Beatles album by far is rubber soul. Its perfect!

  • My bus driver was whistling this one day and I whistled along with him. He turned back and looked at me with surprise. He thought we'd all lost good taste in music.

  • @iamtheicekid...Good story, good bus driver. :)

  • @iamtheicekid i think he was coming on to you

  • @iamtheicekid man I remember my bus driver would always play classic rock on the stereo in the bus, and I was always like ''YES!!'' hahaha

  • This is one of my favorite albums!

Along with Revolver and Please Please Me...

    <3 TheBeatles!<3

  • I like very much this snog

  • Their amazing acoustic work is so simple yet delicous!

  • @ToolFan68 taste like strawberries does it?

  • :0)

  • Did you guys notice the only music part after the girl said that it was time for bed? Haha :P

  • Love this song. Rubber Soul is my fave Beatles LP

  • Just looking at the album cover brings back so many memories. Right now it's my favorite but as soon as I look at Revolver or some other I will change my mind. Love the simplicity of Rubber Soul for sure.

  • @MrJlennon1 lol this is about John Lennon cheating on his then wife Cynthia

  • John Winston Ono Lennon

    October / 9 / 1940 - December / 8 / 1980

    May He Rest In Peace

  • genius :)

  • 1 Dislike, Obviously elvis is still alive and has made it his mission to downrate every beatles video

  • Comment removed

  • I'm from Norway! ;D

  • @MrJlennon1

See dudemanbearpig's comment for the meaning. Note that his comment has 54 thumbs up, so it is not only my opinion he is on the money.

  • I really want Sean Lennon to cover this.

  • What clown disliked this!!Idiot!!

  • pre-psychedelia track

  • Uni dei tanti capolavori dei Fab4.

  • LOVE

  • HAPPY BDAY JOHN!!

  • happy 70 birthday john

  • happy 70 birthday john

  • I'm surprised back in 1965 people didn't realise sooner who this concerned. She was really hot, the female journalist from the London Evening Standard this song is written about (allegedly!)

  • I love that Sitar! It was beautiful! I wonder if there will be a Sitar Hero or Sitar Rockband! That would be cool. Anyway, fantastic song!

  • @KrazyLady102 yeah i love the sitar aswell, if you like the sitar you would like a song called venus in furs by the velvet underground, if you have not heard it already that is.

  • @KrazyLady102 oh and make sure you listen to the 1965 acetate version of the velvet underground song, it's a better version of the song in my opinion

  • These are very bold lyrics for 1965.

  • fucktown! very controversial name! I love it!! lol

  • I love this song :) each time I hear it it transports me to a quaint english garden up northern england somewhere in the mountains, sitting on the back porch of a tudor- esque house just strumming away with a bong for added measure lol :)

  • i like the song, but dude, who the HELL calls him/herself "fucktown" ????

  • listening to this makes me feel like I'm high on something

  • this is my favorite beatle song. want to know how old i am...i saw the bealtes live in concert in Portland Oregon. my parents took my sister and i. i wore a cute little suit.

  • I love it. They should have had one more verse though. Its too short.

Does anyone know what the strange instrument is I hear in the song?

  • @ILTSYC that's an Indian stringed instrument with lots of drones, called a sitar. Played by George Harrison. I presume that's the 'strange' instrument you are referring to!

  • @ILTSYC its called sitar and Georgie played it :D

  • @ILTSYC its a sitar, kinda like a banjo on steroids.

  • @Dudethatstrippin Could also be more understandably described as a Indian banjo.

  • Comment removed

  • I love the sixties font on the album

  • talking about sex without metioning it love it

  • @313angels313

Yes, the lyrics may have originally been "Knowing she would" and that was too out there at the time so they changed it to "Norweigan Wood." That is speculation but it sort of makes sense.

  • Just amazing.... ♥

  • norwegian wood was a slang term for POT. NOW YOU KNOW, LISTEN TO THE SONG AGAIN, IT WILL MAKE MORE SENSE THAN BURNING HER HOUSE DOWN.

  • Always loved Rubber soul! bought it when I was about 8 or 9

  • There best song on there best album <3 <3 George <3 <3

  • they had an interview of what this song was about. they asked if the song day tripper was about a prostitute and this song was about a lesbian. i see nothing about this being a lesbian. then some people say it was about john cheating on cynthia. and the only thing that makes sense is dudemanbear... whatever his name is... but i don't know what the hell it's talking about. and i don't think anyone does either. so just hear the song and take it as a really good song and stop worryin what it means.

  • im officially subscribing to fucktown...

  • A little-known Lennon classic, I think.

  • There will never be a group like this! This was one of the best bands to ever occur! I love this group! I grew up listening to their music! It was to bad I was not born in the 60's i would have love to see them in concert!

  • @GgigglesShorty ,

You would have had to have been born in the late 1940s to have seen them live - not the 60s. I was born in 1965 and missed the whole Beatles phenom -since I was 4 when they broke up. I heard them first in 1980 as a second generation fan. So I;m guessing you're a 3rd or 4th generation fan. Still nothing better 40 years later. I agree.

  • Love this son, one of my favourite Beatles songs! If you listen to Dylan's fourth time around. He has basically copied the writing style of Norwegian wood. If it can inspire Dylan, it can inspire anyone. Well, apart from the crap artists we have nowadays. They wouldn't know great music if it came up and shook their hands!

  • Norwegian wood is a musicfestival in Norway, called up after this song...

  • My big band's version of this is really good

  • I heard this song was John's message to Cynthia that he was cheating on her with Yoko.

  • I heard this song was John's message to Cynthia that he was cheating on her with Yoko.

  • can anyone tell me the download link for this song?

  • amazing song. If i knew sitar, i would play this song constantly!

  • very good

  • Ha,the guy from the ''strange'' town uploaded another good song!Your YT name makes`me laugh but angry too. Some grassing B*srd got my last channel suspended for something so harmless. But I aint appealing like a creepy teachers pet.I just want the`middle aged fat shit to pay!!!!!!

  • For the record Norwegian wood was a wood paneling for walls, That was popular in the mid sixties.

  • @cw1310 It was also the name of a Scandinavian porn star of the same era ;)

  • @Tote1883gas Really. How do you know that? Thank You.

  • this is probably my favorite beatles song, ever. <3

  • I'd give anything to re-live the feeling I got when I heard this song for the first time. Sends shivers up the spine! Why don't artists write stuff like this anymore?

  • And the moral of the story is: If your girlfriend is being a cocktease, burn her house down.
