    Interesting.

    But I can tell you about the shift...

    People like beautiful things. Ie men want to look good for women as well as women look good for men. (I suppose)

    And the shift from athleticism to just doing it for looks is because now you don't have to be fit to survive...

    Well that's my theory anyways.
