@theking2105Talk about taking the scriptures out of context to fit your view. That passage you are referring to in 1 Timothy is clearly NOT a holiness scripture. And yes he is being lazy. The Bible clearly requires that we give a reason to those who ask about your faith in 1 Peter 3:15. He refuses to do so, and takes the "I have the Holy Ghost, therefore I am wise and you should listen to me" approach. The only problem is I have the Holy Ghost too and I can prove Biblically why I say what I say.

If they can see your glittery belt, headband, whatever... before they notice the holy ghost glow you radiate, you are TOO ADORNED and others will see you as a hypocrite. That may be "tight" - but it's right! =) (As I've heard an evangelist say!)

While I agree that outward holiness standards come from our inward holiness... our family is troubled by what we see in the UPC as a whole. I have only been in church for 17 years, and in that time skirt have gotten MUCH shorter. Now, many women (even women on the platform) have knees showing when standing, or have knees barely covered & then have a 9 inch slit up the back. The word of God tells us that the knee & above is considered nakedness in the eyes of God. PERIOD.

I was raised in the UPC & attended an UPC endorsed college (IBC) As I child I never had standards shoved down my throat, but at the same time I never had a desire to not abide by them. I can see where people who do not have the Holy Ghost would think we are all about standards, but what they have to understand is when you have the Holy Ghost it becomes a personal conviction. I don't feel scared I'm going to break a "law" with everything I wear, when you have the Holy Ghost you gain understanding

@itsgoodtoseeme91 It's not really a double-standard. No church/person is the same. The headband(for practical purposes) doesn't lessen the anointing, and Kristin does have an anointing on her life, and it is in no way decreased by the headband.

Holiness doesn't come from standards, standards come from holiness. Saying it's a double-standard is like saying no UPC church members should go to the movies, even though some UPC pastors disagree.

I once heard someone from UPC about someone dying her hair. Her answer was simply blunt for me. She said... "It's because you don't want to change the way God created you by dying your hair color." The funny thing, going tanning is one of the things she does the most!!!!!! lol
