Linux 11 seems (to me) as easy to use as Windows - without having to be a tech-head. Not that I have anything against tech-heads because without them we'd be living next door to Fred Flintstone. But people want to just go into a computer - do their stuff and not fuss with coding at all on any level. So yeah - I find Linux Mint 11 intriguing and Pinguy OS is pretty slick though buggy here and there last I checked. My only gripe is the lack of effective Windows programs running through WINE.
LAS is seriously one of the best tech related shows I've ever seen. Most tech shows I've seen that have a couple or more people talking back and forth are nothing but nerds with overinflated egos trying to puff up how awesome they are cause they think they know more shit about software or tech companies than the other guy talking. I don't see that at all here or any other Jupiter shows.
@TheEpisteme TekHD, lockergnome, John4lakers, and all the of them are apple fanboy( with they denied ) that only care about the newest iPhone, or macbook. They're all idiots. good thing we have a show like this that shows the real side of tech and real mentally of the Geeks, that actually know something about what they are talk about. Long live Linux Action Show.
That ,,new UI" isnt a new windows ui shell, its in fact a start menu replacer, where you can access all your apps, wich are displayed as real-time tiles.Microsoft will include an app store too, so you could make apps and display them on the ,,windows marketplace", or just simpley download or buy already existing apps.
@rasiakwood Try Arch Linux( with E17) on a netbook with a Atom d550, dual core and hyper treading , now that kicks ass. No, Linux does not suck on a GOOD netbook.
@lucatechxx i dont have time to play around with arch - i tried few lighweight distros and they all suck - battery life is much shorter when surfing the web or playing HD movies. Im sorry thats a FACT.
And WHAT is good netbook? I tried it on low end Samsung Netbook - single core, 1gb of ram - also on my new netbook Asus 1215N.
Result in both cases is the same - Windows 7 is more responsive and battery life is better.
yes with the gnome guys and ubuntu deciding to blow up there desktops i think we all will be finding a new distro to back in the fall. im the same way give me the old school 2d menus that say hears your friggen stuff. im using xfce myself due to this.
Swap out your heat lamps (lights) with some LED ones. All the same light, none of the bake. You just need a larger quantity of bulbs and fixtures IMO. But even if you tripple that, you're still using 50% the power. Without the heat and therefor the cooling needs.
I'm honestly hoping that Linux Mint Debian Edition finds a way to install drivers more easily. LMDE is faster than the regular version but as of now all my comps have intel graphics and broadcom wireless. Finding and installing said drivers in LMDE is a NIGHTMARE!
@lucatechxx openSUSE is doing great on my NetBook. KDE dosen't work to well on it even though. i really Like the KDE netbook interface but its just to heavy on the weak hardware. but Gnome works great and the Gnome shell Works nice on such a small screen. the only issue i have with openSUSE on the Netbook is My battery Life is about 20 Mins Less. But i i think that's because Windows goes into power saving mode as soon as your switch to the battery wile SUSE dosen't have such a feature.
You edit these videos on Windows 7 ?

If you want HDMI on a netbook, your only option is getting one with an AMD fusion core. The only downside to that is they only ship with windows.
