  • Contrary to those upbeat lyrics, the Electric Company will not be bringing you the power.

  • I love how Bill Cosby couldn't keep the rhythm even in his youth.

  • Let's see here.....you had Bill Cosby, Morgan Freeman, and Rita Moreno doing a kid's show. No wonder it was so good. Brought back some great memories.

  • What about Rita D:

  • How was this taped? Were there blank tapes for home VCRs in 1971?

  • Bill freakin Cosby, baby!

  • Show # 1...yep, this intro is from the very first episode, broadcast in October 1971.

  • this Electric Company is better than the "new" Electric Company

  • Thank you for stating the obvious.

  • @danleafboy I concur...BUT as an educator I am GLAD SOOOO GLAD that the Electric Company is BACK on the air...I like the new one...not as much as the old one...but I like it...it still covers the concepts that need to be covered.

  • From 1971.

  • Oh family guy. How you spoof the greatest shows ever.

  • You try to explain this show to today's kids and they roll their eyes while they go on playing with with the Nientendo game systems....

  • @parkman35 Jeez how old are you grandpa? Nintendo game systems were around long before I was a kid, and I'm nearly twenty :P

  • @Joebycool..Joeby...I'll be 47 in June. I'm not a Grandpa...yet... and I assure you Nintendo game systems were not around when this show hit the PBS airwaves...my point was...if you'll look at my initial comment below is that shows like this don't interest today's youth while playing video games do...capice?

  • @parkman35 Well they interest me :) And I consider myself today's youth

  • @Joebycool Well that's good to hear.I gues when I'm talking about today's youth, I'm actually talking more about younger kids say in the 6 to 10 year old range. I'd say you're past that demographic to say the least. This particular TV series was a big part of my early childhood educational process, as well as many others in my generation. We didn't have the resources back then that today's generation has been blessed with. Seeing this takes me back to simpler times.

  • I'm really glad you posted this.

    It would've been lost forever.

I sit today with my 2-year-old, doubting she gets it all, but she'll have some obscure references to share with her college roomies of how completely dorky her father is.

And I'll have some nice memories...

  • I used to like it when after the theme was over, someone would light a match indicating the episode number of the show.

  • Morgan Freedman was on The Electric Company as a cast member. What a great actor.

  • and Rita Moreno!! ;)

  • WOW o WOW this is great...I wonder if you could get all the seasons ever made on DVD now? Does anyone know? I soooooo would buy it!!! Heck I'm almost 34yrs old and I used to watch this growing up as a kid in the late 70's early 80's...such great memories indeed...lol

  • what memories this brings back

  • totally awesome, flashback!

  • LOL Family Guy did a good job spoofing this!

  • They mixed this with the "Hey, you guys!" version that was in season 2.

  • I was thinking the same things!

  • Heck yeah! That was amazing!

  • Family Guy spoofed this one!

  • this show was so 70's
