Gorgeous song. I'm not familiar with The Wraith, but I bought this song in a bargain bin many years ago and it's one of the best folk songs ever written. Shame the band isn't around anymore.
It's beautiful indeed. But Stephen Duffy definitely is around and he's released great music since Black Velvet. Try the "Keep Going" album by Stephen Duffy & The Lilac Time.
I loved this vid. The music gives a feeling of tenderness and its just so unlike all the other wraith vids. Videos with wraith queens are SO hard to find and now you've done one with one of my favourite pairings (sheppard/wraith queen) I especially loved the clips from Submersion it gave off chemistry between Sheppard and the Queen.
Very cool! For some reason, I usually associate the Wraith with heavy metal, but this folkish song worked really well. I think it gave the clips an almost somber feel. If I'm not mistaken, you slowed some of the footage down too, so that also added to the overall effect.
Glad you liked it! The song is a long-time favourite of mine. It has a very haunting quality to it -- almost a Gothic lullabye. The lyrics are very dark, but seductive at the same time, so it made me think of the Wraith Queens.
And you're right, I used a lot of slow-mo effects with the footage -- partly to add to the dreamy (nightmarish?) tone, but also because the raw clips I had to work with were often too short and fast-pased to fit with the lyrical phrasing.
the Wraith Queens sure like Sheppard.........
