  • simply T-E-R-R-I-F-I-C! thank you sooooooo much for this flip side PJ i am appreciating more and more of your postings. much respect to you and your seemingly endless collection. tom d brick,nj

  • For the record, nadinedoowops (someone named Bill Maddocks) was NOT one of the Reminiscents, although he has apparently been passing himself off as such. The Reminiscents were: Angelo Naviello (lead), Judy Steinhart (first tenor), Walter "Buddy" Kritsky (second tenor), Bobby Sibilio (baritone/bass), and me, John Costa (bass/baritone). Our picture is on the cover of The Best of Acapella, Vol. 7 (Relic Records), and our names are listed on the back of the jacket.

  • well i am intrested in who JCinaz1 is i dont rember him as I was one of the Reminisents also nadinedeck@yahoo.com

  • Hopefully you can connect with each other and figure it out :D

  • @nadinedoowop, it's not nice to try to take credit for someone else's work. You were not one of the Reminiscents. The Best of Acapella, Vol 7 (Relic Records) has our picture on the front of the jacket and our names on the back. You, Bill Maddocks, were not one of us.

    The Reminiscents

  • Danny marsala of Linhhurst N.j. the leader and founder george hamburger

Bill Maddocks, JIm Day were in the group also did zoom zoom zoom , cards of love

    WOW

  • Wecut this in 1966 or 1967 (don't remember exactly). We also cut a second 45 on a sister label, Day Records -- Zoom Zoom Zoom (originally recorded in 1958 by the Collegians). Flip side was Oh Let Me Dream. And we had two cuts on the final Best of Acapella, Volume 7 (Relic Records). Then life started interfering and we broke up.

  • Thanks for the info.. That makes a lot of sense since Danny Marcella and Jim Day produced your records (Marcel and Day labels). I haven't found the Day 45, but hope to find one sometime soon. It's a shame you guys broke up. You had a really good sound

  • You guys did a great job!! on this I always thought the haunting quality lent itself to an organ and guitar,

Eddie Black, lead/first tenor The Five Sharks

  • I agree Eddie. They did your song justice

  • Thank you all for the kind comments, and thank you PJDooWop for posting it.

Yes, we were from Lyndhurst, New Jersey. The original version by the 5 Sharks made quite an impression on us. We never felt we could match their acapella version, but we gave it our best.

I was pleasantly surprised to find this on YouTube. Listening to it again brought back some wonderful memories.

    John Costa, The Reminiscents

  • I'm really happy that you found this. When did you put this out? I'm guessing it was in the mid 60s sometime.

    John

  • Thanks for requesting it

  • Very different kind of record, definitely,.. and a totally pleasant song to listen to! The beginning just VAGUELY reminds me of 96 Tears..

  • I see what you mean with 96 tears. If you haven't heard it, check out The Five Sharks version of this

  • I agree with Eddie.....................nice version. Ours was done Acapella..........and a big thanks to the Reminiscents for the credits................keep up the good work PJ

    Kenny B

    The Five Sharks

  • Thank you Kenny

  • Great keyboard introduction! Heavenly yet haunting harmonies are perfect! Thank you PJ!

  • Fantastic Harmony :))

  • Not a bad version of my groups song Flames , and they did give us writing credit relatively rare record , great post PJ.

    Eddie Black, The Five Sharks

  • Although both are good, I do prefer your version.

  • Thanks , always thought over the years that the haunting chord structure of this song almost begs to have an organ and guitar layerd over it, apparently ,I was not the only oneLOL

    Eddie Black, The Five Sharks

  • Wow this was so great!! I really liked this PJ!! Reminds me of Dion & The Bellmonts.

  • Superlative post,PJ! Group Harmony doesn`t get much better than this!

  • You should check out The Five Sharks version too
