I own this and wouldn't recommend it overall its not horrible however my tip did break from stabbing tests and I tested the sharpness with a new four dollar blade I got from walmart and the four dollar one was sharper. The biggest problem I have about this knife is that it is too thick the blade overall needs to be thinner in order to allow for a sharper more sustained cut
@TheSystemofthefreaks lol, there is no way the 4 dollar knife was shaper i'd rather take my chances putting a 4$ walmart knife to my kneck than this knife to my finger
@AntebellumOg I shit u not it really was I think the reason for it is because the sharpness retention of the tanto has gotten dull while the walmart one is still new but still I'd like it if the blade sharpness stayed longer
To test sharpness you don't cut diagonally, you cut downwards on the paper. And hold the paper with your hand on 1 side. Then just slice vertically down the middle of the paper.
@Luccian22 none that i know of, why dont you try making one yourself there are loads of diagrams and knife designe on google and there are a handful of useful videos here on youtube. this should fit your budget and you can make it however you want. if you're willing to raise your budget to atleast $60, i strongly recommended you buy a kabar combat knife, its great for the price and is doubles as a utility knife.
@varun009 Thx for the reply! I just gave a order for the Cold Steel SRK! It's AUS 8 but i think it will get the job done. My skills in knife makeing are none!
@Luccian22 if you want to get a better knife for a bit more, you can get the recon tanto from cold steel, its a bit more expensive, but what i hear, its a really good knife
i watched all your videos and personaly i think the gerber was most appealing to me, it looks realy comfortable to hold and it looks like a realy beautifull blade good review by the way.
Isn't that choil really designed to hook and twist your opponent's knife out of his hand during a fight? I mean, that's what makes the most sense to me given the design and apparent intended purpose of this knife.
@68Masada Thanks for the response. I only use knives for tools and they don't interest me at all as some type of defensive weapon. I'm a backpacker and I love my 6 inch Fallkniven for splitting wood and basic camp chores. The finer points of exotic knives are interesting, however.
If I lived in Australia, I wouldn't be caught dead without a fixed blade and a lighter or fire steel.

"That's a knife" Haha, I couldn't resist!

@Luccian22 if you're still looking for a cheaper camp knife try the buck 119. I forget what steel they are but they are great knives for their price.

My only disagreement is that the paracord wrap is better grip than that one

The needle point always breaks on these knives. They have for the last 10 years.

nice video. the long and absolutely (!) useless choil on this knife keeps me from liking it.

@enjoythewildUSA It can be used that way but thats not its intended use. Some choils even serve as locking mechanisms on knives
