fucking hell, ljubicic did nothing wrong and still lost 6, 6 and 6, and all 3 TB'ers were close. thats how magical fed is. overall, its a high level of play from both, and i like how ljubicic is really soft and calm during rallies. great match.
@LuCaRiOfan94 hes like exact opposite of davydenko, ljubicic has slower swings, davydenko moves faster, davydenko has a 2 handed backhand, davydenko is way shorter. just a lot different..
i meant less their game styles and more that, in my opinion, they generally are both more talented than most people think they are and deserve a little more credit. (other than informed/dedicated tennis fans, most people dont give them the respect i believe they deserve). just an opinion. some people say davydenko is overrated but w/e. but ya in a response to you, i guess i referring more to their careers than their games...
the masters series titles went best of three sets for the whole tournament, until the final, where it was best of five sets. but that has been erased, and the finals are now only best of three sets.
imo, the move to best of three sets has made MS finals a lot less interesting.
I´m not sure, but I think they changed the masters finals to regular 3 sets to spare the player´s physically, so they don´t go from one tournament to the next to drained, which is understandable considering how many tournament´s there are during the whole year.
there's the problem. there are so many mandatory tournaments that are squished into little periods of time. instead of cutting down on the # tournaments played, they just cut their finals by two sets.
the players are hit hard by the schedule of tournaments. the 3 set finals change has a much smaller impact, imo.
@reefric yer true. you see it with the last MS series (or used to be with madrid). so many people used topull out of madrid and paris due to sheer exhaustion and wanting to save energy for the year ending masters cup
yes, usually player´s are pretty worn out after the us open, I think it´s good that they changed, makes the grand slams that much more exciting to watch.
could anyone tell me why they had to take a 5sets match like a grand slam?

@BlakkLining before 2007 all master's series finals were a best of 5 match.

Everything that Federer does is beautiful, even the easiest finishes 3:46

lol such bad luck for ljubicic. i was actually rooting for him to win, wouldve been one of the biggest upsets ever.
misterlonely1446 1 year ago
ljubicic was pretty elegant too. Remember all those matches in 05 06 he had with Federer where almost every set had to go to tiebreak.

Good Ljubicic. He played good matches, it was so interesting these tournaments with Ljubicci at the top.

ljubicic is a talented player. he deserves more respect. he kind of reminds me of davydenko and not just because he's bald

Ljubicic played really great during 2005~2006, and he could defeat almost anyone except Federer. It's a pity he hasn't won a Masters Series by far.

I think it´s ok, plus it makes grand slam´s that much more exciting to watch, where it´s the best of 3 out of 5 sets.
