  • listen you can hear the banjo panting

  • My step-grandfather died two years ago. I remember him playing guitar and banjo just like this as I grew up. I used to think it "hillbilly music" or music for old people. But awhile back I discovered indie-folk and have since become enamored of these "social anthems" dating back to the English troubadours; a historical record unto themselves. As I listen to and learn to play songs like this I am reminded of the precious resource I neglected.

  • I was proud to call Fleming Brown my friend. He did one hell of a job to keep these old songs and the performers alive and noticed in the folk world. RIP Flem.

  • Proud to say I'm from Hobart's home town of Saltville, Virginia, the greatest place on Earth.
