I was in Korea in 2000 and saw this on TV. I was so blown away that the next day I found a CD store and checked every shelf until I found what I hoped was the CD with this song on it. Only when I got home and played the CD did I learn that I'd guessed right, and that the name of my new favourite singer was Park Ji Yoon.

Let's see that would be how many years AFTER Thriller? A good song and choreography stands the test of time. Haven't you seen really old stuff that kicks ass now? Stuff from the 80's, 60's, 40's? Contemporary dance is not technologically advanced. Music constantly borrows and adapts older styles, sometimes completely copying older styles. One can make comparisons, musicians and choreographers do all the time. Anyway, Park Ji Yoon is incredibly beautiful and would be considered so in any era.

i realize the dance is difficult and they have a lot of talent, but as far as it being something fans would imitate as opposed to just watch just is too unreasonable. the dance is complicated (for non-dancers), not very fluid, and not even much fun to do. for a dance to catch on it needs to be easy to follow and "catchy". This is a performance piece and very enjoyable to watch as is Park Ji Yoon of course.

Yes I have. I'm not saying I'm great at it (what does it matter what I do, in any case) since I rarely have occasion to do it but I have seen people do both and done both REALLY well.

For example: Broadway - they can sing AND they can dance at the same time. Imagine that!

And I'm not saying lip syncing is unnecessary. Singers can't sing all the time on tours otherwise that will strain their voice. However, if singers only lipsync, that takes away the whole point of their profession.

Okay, there a lot of comments on this video pointing out that she is lip-syncing. The truth is that most singers lip sing when dancing and performing on stage. The fact is that it is very hard to keep your singing pitch and dance around at the same time! If they didn't lip-sync they would sound really bad. MadTV even did a joke about this once.

I don't know why people think it's poor to lip-sync—it makes perfect performing sense.
