  • epion there is a lot of really good music of today. even mainstream. check out adele or amy winehouse, they got soul dawn. but nothing will ever top that era for sure.

  • He sings the kind of music that you "feel". Love, love love it!!!

  • His voice was AWESOME!! SOUL!

  • this one video defines "soul" more completely then words ever could. Otis has been gone 44 years today and I love and appreciate his music more then ever.

  • i weep holy shit. you know why cant we sing like this now'er days with passion and lyrics that mean shit!

  • 1:20-1:37...... hot damn. The song is amazing but, that music. You can just feel the passion.

  • I love this song so so much! Love Otis Forever!

  • I GOT THIS

  • Simply BEAUTIFULl in every aspect <3

  • Justin Beiber?

  • I remeber when I was 10 and they showed then recovering his boddy from the crashed plane. I used to have this album, yes it was montery pop. one side was ottis, the other side was jimi hendrix

  • Jeez this man sings! Thank you Dad for naming our brother after him. Otis xx

  • How do you turn a duck into a soul singer?

put it in the microwave till its Bill Withers

    MrMattpozdol your not wrong

  • Otis was surely the greatest soul singer of all time!

  • @MrMattpozdol he was good , Al Green is better

  • surement un des meilleurs chanteurs black us !

  • 40 peoples have shit in their ears

  • @Lilag0 Too true

  • wow this is great.

  • This man is a legend.Without a doubt.

  • ...and this is the kinda voice the Pop idol industry will tell you is not acceptable to make you famous, or a good singer - Fools.

  • Maravilloso Otis Redding,bellisima cación,5*

  • Still some of the best music today. Otis, you'll live forever!!!

  • greatest performance ever

  • Like Brother Al Green says, "How can you mend a broken heart..."

  • oh wow. i got a little teary eyed listening to that. so much heart and soul.

  • Love it!!! Back when music had soul. I love everything about that era. The style, the cars, the music, the clothes. Look at the music today and see how far America has fallen. Back then, it was about the music. Today it is about the money.

  • @EPION1989

That's because back then, there wasn't any money in it.

There's still plenty of great soul singers today, you just have to look for them because radio doesn't play them often.

  • what year is this

  • 1967

  • Wow, he melts my butter!!!! I get goose bumps every time I hear his voice. One of the greats!!!!

  • OMG... Wow!!!

  • Outrageous! Magnificent! I'm out of words here. Love it love it love it love it!

  • how i can back in time!!!

  • ctownz, you make some very good points. However blacks are always complaining about being treated like criminals so maybe young black men should stand up and stop singing about violence. You say music doesnt cause violence, let me ask you this,if they played Otis & Al Green at the club do you think fights and killings would occur?

  • When the people running the industry only look for black female singers and seem only interested in black males who rap then this is a result. Plus I agree with the point that music doesn't cause crime. The blame falls exclusively on the individuals.

  • love this song, especially in this version.Otis has a beautiful and profound voice

  • i remember playing these sounds over and over of odis and jimmy reed , while waiting for my boyfriend to arrive, we both loved this music---------

  • 33 year old white male,if blacks would stop singing CRAP,I mean Rap,and start singing like OTIS and Al Green crime would plummet!!

  • 18 year old, i don't think rap music is the main reason crime is what it is

  • i agree with u and im 23 yrs old.. if music was liek it was back then it would be much less crime.. cause people wouldnt be worried about gettin money, hoes, cars, and etc but would be focused on being happy cause money dont buy true happiness.. thats my opinion

  • sorry sir but dont blame blacks.Hip hop use to have something to say but marketing people seen that violence sold especially to suburban white kids. Now they put out music that perpetrates hate because thats where the money is.I know you know better to think that all marketing people are all african american. Also you cannot blame music for dumb peoples actions

  • My man...

  • love it, love it, love it

  • Now thats a great song! so passionate.

  • amazing

  • One of the best things that have ever happened to this world was the birth of Otis Redding. One of the worst, his death. R.I.P. Otis

  • 63 year old white male, gives me chills

  • Quite simply I ask you, "Is that not close to perfection?"

  • Yes! Sir! Like me these songs prepare you for the work day lol

  • For anyone that is a fan of great soul music, including a cover of this song, check out Marc Broussard SOS cd.

  • Goosebumps. It took all of two seconds.

  • great video

  • That´s Soul!!!! =)

  • Inimitable and unreachable..

  • ...beyond my foolish words. That's how I feel mystery or spiritual "something" of soul music. I thank you(this video owner) and OTIS.

  • omg its to beautiful to listen to it why there no singer like this anymore

  • KING OF SOUL !

  • One world.

    Beautiful.

    xxx

  • one phrase to describe these singers and era of music; TRULY GIFTED & TALENTED.

  • wat a cool tune? fantastic!!!!

  • i have been looking for the artist ot this tune for a long time, it gets me all in a flutter? josie

  • It s just wonderful!

  • foarte foarte frumos

  • Woooo *claps*

  • He wasn't even alive when Dock of the Bay was released. Did all the by the age of 26...

  • What a great emotion, what a great song, what a fabulous singer. This is an all time classic. It is sad that "Sittin on the Dock of the Bay" is the song that most non-fans think of when they hear his name. I really do like the song but don't rate it in his top 5.

  • W/digital editing & corrective tech for pitch, tone & rhythm, (heck, most 'vocal' riffs lately are the singer's voice loaded into a keyboard!), it's rare, if ever, that you'll hear a true vocal performance. A well financed tour can even use this stuff at 'live' shows. Knowing they can 'fix it' has created an entirely different mind-set in modern 'singers'. Not a good one. "yianpap" you posted: "No offense to Justin Timberlake"? I say: Hell -yes-, offense! -To him- & -by- him!

  • Indeed. He hosted the episode that he sang on, bringing in other soul greats like Sam & Dave. Standing beside the other performers reveals Otis's incredible physical presence, making Sam, Dave & English fans like Eric Burden look like little children following behind him.

  • Otis remains the great anomaly of pop/soul: Tone, phrasing, melodies & lyrics w/a long, deep, full life of experience behind them, (all due credit to Steve Cropper's immense contribution & the MGs' perfectly understated backing), yet "Dock" is the only tune recorded at, (barely), 26 , the bulk of OR's hits having been released at ages 21-23! This level of maturity & sensitivity in such a young man is astounding beyond comprehension & unique to this one great man.

  • There is no voice more sincere.

  • Best voice of ALL time and forever,Amen!!!

  • There were singers out there who had wider vocal ranges, more diversity, etc... but nobody had the soul that only Otis could bring. Man, this guy just breaks your heart with deep and beautiful emotion. Otis is humanity at its best. Wow.

  • AMAZING

  • Love this man! :D

  • big tune!!!

  • there is nothing better than this old romantic melodys...

  • a realy great singer!

  • His voice !! OMG I looove

  • Otis Redding's version of White Christmas can paint a Norman Rockwell like picture of Christmas. During Christmas our family would get together at Grandpa Tahiliani's Ranch deep in the rocky mountains of eastern Idaho. We would sip homemade hot chocolate next to the fireplace singing along to Otis Redding on Grandpa Tahiliani's 8 track tape player what a joyous time we had. Thanks Mark Tahiliani

  • his best song in my opin

  • magnifique video

  • the "music" that understands.. life!

  • so powerfull. what a talent

  • I remember Otis Redding's I Got Dreams,Been Loving You Too Long, and These Arms of Mine. Played Otis Redding songs hundreds of times with the Casuals, Cadillacs, Impacts and Heartbreaks (1964 through 1969). Andy Jackson was THE BEST Otis Redding Singer I have heard. If you heard Jackson, then you heard Otis. Nobody could sing Otis Redding like Jackson. You could Close your eyes and Otis was singing. Andy if you read this, reply. I'm still picking, singing & Kicking.

    Djax114

  • all time greats!!

  • Sensibility has died in most people...too bad.. that was our humanity ..

  • This mans music brings tears to my eyes so filled with powerful and deep emotions! IF you are not emotionally moved by this song you are 6 feet under! Remarkable musical talent love his powerful feelings so sincere so touching..

  • Unique voice.

  • Truly a magical performance!

  • Male or female; black, white or asian; young or old... how in the hell could anyone listen to this man and not be deeply moved and touched by his genuiness and depth. What a gifted talent that was taken so young.

Otis... in a class by himself.

  • amazing

  • I've never seen this footage with this but the audio was on the best of CD, I used to sing to when i was in college when I painted. Girls used to knock on my door a lot and ask for stuff when i was singing to Otis. Now that I look back I understand the real reason. They didn't understand it, a dude singing passionately along to Otis. But y'all get it. Otis was one of those rare guys like marvin, sam cooke, al green, that could just grab your heart and hold you there. Bless him.

  • yes he died but he holds to my heart no body can replace him he got me through the night and more

  • to watch this just let me no what crap to days music is.were did we lose r soul and can some artist bring it back?lets all pray,we need it back soon.

  • ....it brings me to tears everytime, beautiful, otis was always an angel

  • Mr. Redding....you've been gone too long

  • 22bella: He did not die in a plane crash by the way.

The plane crashed in a lake. All of them died on impact, except him, who survived. He couldn't get out and drowned.

Anyway, God bless you "Big O", we shall never forget you. RIP !!!

  • Damn, this is great.

  • amazing. i lov this song

  • C'est cette Chanson d'Otis et interprétée par Otis que je souhaite entendre le jour de mon envol pour rejoindre Flume, mon Frangin et le Père mon Papa.

  • that gave me chills! thanks for sharing!

it's sad to have lost him... long he'll live through these beautiful songs

  • wow

  • plane crash

  • how did he die

  • Otis-fenomen :)

  • It is a shame that great artists like Otis no longer exist. I hope someone comes along who is as close to as good as he was but I am doubtful.

  • love otis what a sad ending for a great singer

  • It remindes me of my Dad.....I miss those times and those 33's

  • such a beautiful soulful song!! my mum used to play his all the time when i was a baby & i grew up litening to it... Amazing!

  • he has such fantastic stage presence. Without the use of special effects, props, dancers, any other distraction, lesser singers would employ, he's still able to capture one's attention. Amazing talent.

  • what a tragic losss it was when he died. they don't make them like this anymore...

  • MISTER SOUL FOREVER!

  • brilliant

  • Words cant do this man justice.XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

  • There is no word to decribe this song

  • You give up too easily. I came up with "genius" in 3 seconds

  • Fortunately, this performance was recorded. Monterey was a 1967 Festival that gave Otis, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix and The Who their first big exposure in America. This is where Hendrix lit his guitar on fire at the end of his performance of 'Wild Thing'. A performance like this one here by Otis, makes it all the more difficult to see or hear most 'performers' these days, or to listen to them be praised.

  • this song brings tears to my eyes

  • this tune is just puuuuuuure amazzzzzzzzing god bless otis RIP

  • what a beautiful voice

  • This is how you Beg...Grown Man Style !!!

Up & comming singers, you need to take notes.

  • I love his...he has capture of my heart...

  • Why do all of the great die before they reach 40? He will, in my opinion, be the greatest singer, because he make you feel the pain in every love song that he sang. This is the song that help me to get the courage to want to beg for my wife to remarry me. Please pray for me on this endeavor. There is one one thing about being wrong is admitting that you are wrong

  • Never beg for anything. Be a man and explain yourself the right way.

  • I listened to Otis redding when i was just a little boy, because my mother and father were great fans. That's why till this day i love his music. His music is lifetime music. It doesn't matter in what year we're in. His music and words still will hit you.

  • I get goosebumps every time...

  • same here

  • YOU GO, OTIS!

  • I was 20 years old when Otis died in that plane crash. I felt as though I'd lost a relative. His music touched my heart from the time I first heard that voice. It still gives me chills. If you read his bio, you'll see they didn't even want to record him at first... What a loss that would have been.

  • he lived 26 years like 80 years!

  • WoW!! My God what a voice. Only once in a life time will you ever hear a voice like that. Dead at 26 years old. WoW! What a soulful voice.

  • Vraiment une des plus belles voix que j'ai pû entendre.

  • we gotta remember him often!

he's been the greatest..i miss him so much!

  • DEAD AT 26, 41 YEARS AGO TOMORROW, DECEMBER 10TH.

  • Best there ever was

  • The blues brothers band before two comedians

    made them famous...

Otis probably couldn't give two shits for a guy like "High Pitch"...

I'm just glad that more people can hear them hit the post, "One More Time"
