I just had this surgery plus a anterior and posterior vaginal repair done on april 22nd 2009 and believe it or not they all look a lot more painful than they really are. The stitches suck and of course there is tons and tons of pain and discomfort but It just looks a lot worse than it is.....I am just hoping that once it heals up that I am in less pain than I was before I had it done.
she had a prolapse of either the uterus or the rectum into the vagina which sometimes happens in older women after strenuous childbirth or improper care after giving birth. this gave the organs support.
Technology is amazing these days, but i cant help but feel sick at the sight of being butchered like that in a delicate area. i wouldnt like any of my friends of family going thro this
I am an RN, and I had this surgery with removal of my ovaries 2 weeks ago today....no wonder I hurt so much they had to administer Dilaudid every 2 hours with Percocet in between! If this surgery is successful, I will be forever grateful. It is a miracle how much better I feel, even though I still have surgical pain, compared to having everything feel like it is coming out. It is a miserable way to live. Thanks to my doc, Dr. Lindsey Kerr, (Google her name) she is amazing!
Men do not know how lucky they are. There are so many things that can go wrong with women. I have had 9 gynae operations and at 32 I need at least a few more.
My mum had a hysterectomy that left her with a pro-lapsed bowel.she had had two heart surgeries, gall bladder and myriad other operations, but she reckoned that was the worst thing to endure. The last 2 yrs of her life were a misery because of it.I'm glad there is help for those who need it.Alas,my mum by that stage was too underweight & weak for surgery.I still cry when I think of how she suffered with this. Thanks for posting.
I'm pretty sure this surgery was done because the woman had a prolapsed uterus. Something that can happen to a woman who has had a hard delivery with a large baby perhaps. Everyone needs to keep up their keegle excercise to prevent this from happening. I read somewhere that having regular sex helps keep the uterus where its supposed to be, but I don't know if that's true.
Candid Health: How We Really Feel is just about ready to launch. After getting dozens of interviews last Friday in the streets of New York, we are currently editing the content into short episodes. These videos are the voice of New York, and of America itself, from street preachers to war veterans to businessmen and women, and show how you really feel about health. Keep checking our channel as we upload these videos over the next few days.
We ask that you share your medical stories with us, either via comment or video form, so that we can best create video that suits your needs. If you create a video explaining your story, or walking through a procedure if you're a physician, and we feel it is a good one, we will edit and enhance your video for free and post it right back up on YouTube.
Are there other excercises besides keegle that help prevent this? What is the problem with just taking out the uterus when someone has a prolapsed uterus? Why do you need the mesh?
That does not look very pleasant.

>Why do we need to send the mesh from the vaginal canal? Can't we just enter with laparoscope and stich the mesh and lateral cervics?
Well isnt it smart to use a hole that already exists ?

The mesh is to bind/shape. Its durable and wont cause clotting or build up of fluid, due to its porus make.
