  • anyone know where to go to download this song as mp3 or any of the bitter suite please

  • XXXXEEEEENNNNNNNAAAAAAAAAA, I LOOVVVEEEEE YOU =D

  • I remember watching episode when i was like 12 and thinking: xena...what. the. fuck?

  • Now, I'm so used to Lucy Lawless in BSG, that this is *really* weird

  • I think the dad is herchules and thats why she want tell anyone

  • @xenagabrielheros lol... The father is actually Calisto (She turned good in the episode "Fallen Angel") it eventually became time for her to "re-incarnate" so she chose Xena (who is all confused about it, but accepted it none-the-less) to be her new mother.... But good guess!

  • @XelaWarriorAngel I think teh father would more be Eli. She got pregnant when he brought her back adn Callisto chose to be her daughter.

  • @deadakito yes it´s right Eli brings them back, but callisto touch her belly and i think thats the moment when xena gets pregnant. so callisto is the "father" of Eve.

  • Xena is a great mom

  • love it so much

all the girls sung this at assembley

  • lucy is a fan of annie lennox and you can tell!well sung lucy:)

  • "now who did you say the father was?" cue awkwardness

  • she is amazing just truly brilliant!

  • I love when Lucy sings and it is even better when she sings in her Xena accent!!!

  • i love lucy in spartacus!!!!!!!

  • @rsbandbj1j2j3 Lol same here

God she's so awesome.I don't know if I love more her or the Xena's character.

  • Don't forget a few things, folks:

    1. Lucy was EXTREEEMELY pregnant when she did this - that's why she' s in the long coat in a sauna.

    2. Original song written by Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart, performed by Annie and Aretha Franklin - gotta give props.

    3. The actress who played Cyrene, Xena's mom, apparently had no rhythm and was not into the dancing - however, this actress DID release an album at one point in her career!

    4. Lucy has been on Broadway several times - she's legit!

  • some say the song excludes lesbians. does the song go with the era?

  • This scene was to make up for Lucy not being clad in leather for the entire season. A bunch of women dancing around in their underwear in a bathroom who were probably about to get it on before Xena burst out into song.

  • i enjoy this song

  • Lucy, I love you. :)

  • @KelleyGaither2000 wow that is an awesome story. lol. it is funny though that it always seems to be your mom that can tell what is really going on

  • I agree, Lucy totally pwned that song. And she did that dancing and singing with 8 months pregnancy. She's awesome! :D I love how she nods while dancing. Really seems to be enjoying herself. :P

  • It's a brilliant scene, and funny too!! Everybody else is half naked and Xena is dancing in her big long coat!!!

  • love it

  • who was the freaky gay dude, at the end coming out of the hot tub?

  • @dnaivnae That was Jace, one of Joxer's brothers.

  • @AustenFugitive ah, thnx for clearing that up dude^x^ appreciate it

  • @dnaivnae no problem. ;D

  • @dnaivnae haha, that was "Joxer's brother" Jace XD

  • @Najiro0988 lolz oh, okay my bad.XP

  • Lol! I have the feeling that Lady Gaga was inspired by this scene

  • @poufkimashoula wouldnt doubt it^x^

  • This is my favorite episode of Zena.

  • 2 things, wuts the epi, and wut r they talking about?

  • @dnaivnae This episode is called Lyre Lyre Hearts on Fire, and they are talking about the fact that there is no father for Xena's baby. One of my all time fav. episodes!!!

  • This is an old song from 1984 with eurythmics and Aretha Franklin. Lucy (Xena)is covering this song

  • Oh my god!! Now i realise how much i love lucys voice, it´s fantastic, i wanna sing like her!! :)

  • LOVE THIS SONG!! And Lucy Can SING!!!

  • The volume turns up as load as possible with mega bass... So empowering!!

  • By far the hottest Amazons known to man...kind lol

  • The 3 girls in the shower remind me of the three naked dancing Gabrielle's

  • @RangikuMatsumoto3 yeah it's true hahahhaha!

  • ahhhhhhhhhhhhh love it!!!!!!!!!

  • The baldish blonde in orange kinda freaks me out cos she looks just like me when I had shaved my head, though of course I don't have a dancer's body like her. :P

  • long live Xena!

  • my fav episode of all time

  • "now, who did you say the father was?" BOING

  • This was one of the songs I loved most. Girl power ftw! ;D And I adore Lucy's singing skills.

  • hahahahahaha i thought i imagined this!!! i can't believe someone really thought this was a good idea!!

  • Love this song! I just have to say Lucy looks like a anime character. Ryoko from Tenchi Muyo/Universe/Tokyo and the movies. The resemblance is amaaazzzing!!!!

  • I'd never noticed it before, but you're right, there is a kind of resemblance. All she needs is the ice-blue hair and gold contact lenses.

  • love it so awsome Lucy has a great voice

  • alaylaylaylaylaylaylaylaylaylay chhhheeeee aaa!!

  • I always wondered how that was spelled.

  • hahaha i don't think I spelt it right

  • Don't forget Annie Lennox!

  • Right and Annie Lennox what a boom!

  • Annie is one amazin' sistah!

  • Ok, honestly, that does it! I got to get season 5 on dvd aswell!! xD Only got 1-3 =S

  • Actually, considering you probably mean a man did that...well, no.

Callisto "gets" Xena pregnant. So either way you look at it, a "sister" is involved with Xena's pregnancy.

  • I'm aware of how it happened in continuity, and Xena still didn't do it for herself.

It's still daft; just like Xena and the gang singing "War" at the beginning of this episode, especially considering Xena's war-- well, okay, let's make that "murder spree"-- against the Olympians later in the series.

  • Do you have to analyze everything, tho? Xena was singing about war because she stopped causin' and started stoppin' it. Sure, she still killed, but for the right reasons and only when necessary. And putting the WP aside for a moment, Lucy is still a pretty independent woman in her life. This song doesnt necessarily mean sex. Sisters are doing many things for themselves nowadays without a man's say so. I'm just sayin' :)

  • What would the "right reasons" for killing be (outside of defense)? I say again, she murdered the Olympians.

Of course the song isn't about sex; I was just referring to the amusing oddity (not lost on Lucy or the "Xena" crew, I'm sure) of the notion of the song sung by a woman who has obviously been, shall we say, "collaborating" (whether with her knowledge or without) on something that a sister normally can't do on her own.

  • Again, why you gotta physco analyze it? Cant you just enjoy it? She murdered the Olympians to protect her daughter! i would have done the same damn thing. And that whole oddity thing, the show is full of those...you gotta get used to it. Are you trying to put down women here by pointing this out or what? Just enjoy the song. Women are independent now, getting pregnant doenst change a damn thing.

  • I'm not psychoanalyzing anything, I'm just pointing out what appear to me to be oddities. You don't have to agree with me, but you don't have to pop a cork either.

Of course I can enjoy it; Lucy Lawless is a brill singer and this is (believe it or not) one of my favorite songs. But being possessed of a sense of humor, I also enjoy the silly side of this rendition.

And how on earth do you see me as putting down women????

  • Well, you seem to keep pointing out the fact that she's pregnant and "needed" a man to do it. The oddity, as you call it?

  • Yes indeed, an incongruity which lends the chuckle which I'm sure was lost neither on Lucy Lawless nor anyone on that set.

  • I totally agree with you there is no point on analyzeing this

  • I agree too! I was just making a flip remark.

  • @MaskedMan66 Yea...sorry for butting in but Xena didn't really go on a spree. She was just going after the ones that went after her baby. Xena is still a woman and, in this series, an insanely powerful and strong one. Add that to a mother's intuition and protectivness and her actions are more than justified. If you take note, she only killed the ones that went after her or her baby. Aphrodite and Ares stayed alive because Xena didn't view them as a threat

  • Bullseye.

  • It was still, to coin a phrase, overkill.

I started watching "Hercules" because I love the old Greco-Roman myths. I stopped watching "Xena" for that same reason.

If the deaths had been less idiotic, I'd have dealt better, but come on: Artemis fires an arrow, Xena catches it. She fires a 2nd one, Xena catches it. Instead of doing the sensible thing and firing a 3rd (or indeed 4th, 5th, 6th, etc.), Artemis stands there like a lemon, mouth agape, and lets Xena toss the arrows back to kill her.

  • See, this is why smart asses shouldnt watch shows like this. Go watch the Discovery Channel if you wanna analyze everything. Its a show...they will do things that sometimes dont make sense but you go with it cuz its tv, not real life. Sheesh.

  • You really have the wrong idea of my approach to this. When did I ever say it was real life? Never.

"It's a T.V. show," is an excuse a lot of people use to try and justify ham-fisted writing, as if to say that a T.V. show can't be well-written.

"Xena" showed a brilliance in its early days ("The Bitter Suite" was a work of near-genius), but after a while it just became "who can Xena beat up this week?" and "continuity be hanged."

  • Hey, you cant be a genius all the time. Probably ran out of ideas as the show went on. I had a couple things myself i thought could've been done better. Especially that retarded ending. I blamed Rob after those episodes aired but its wasnt worth it. I enjoyed what i got whether i agreed with it or not.

  • Naturally enough, I never saw the end, though I gather there were some amazing visuals.

  • @MaskedMan66 I didn't like the iditotic cliche ending. Her dying outfit was quite hideous if i might say. It was well done from the beginning to middle but the ending, my God. One of the "could have been better" things in the show :)

  • Was that the abbreviated samurai outfit? I know that the episode takes place in Japan, but that's all the info I have.

  • @MaskedMan66 Yeah, thats it. Gold, red, black...the colours were nice but the design was a total turn off for me. The scenerio was beautiful tho. It's just the ending. I would have taken her coming back and them walking into the sunset together over that.

  • That would have been a bit more classic. Maybe they thought that would have been too much like Herc and Iolaus's sendoff.

  • @MaskedMan66 I have never watch Hercules unfortunately so i dont know how they were sent off...?

  • @trishstratus8 I hav the collector edition box w/ interviews and shit- they rushed into a screwy ending, very disappointing, yes, but..I supose it was worthy, passing the torch on to Gabrielle(that was a given) but Xena lived through a shitload of tight situations.. lol froze to death and brout back to life, heave & hell..The Gods even tried to kill her..

  • Oh, and once again, how do you see me as putting down women?

  • "See, this is why smart asses shouldnt watch shows like this."

Sooooo, what you're saying is, only dumb asses should watch it?

  • If you prefer to see it that way, sure. A lot of shows with heros dont make sense. They have to make them look as good as they can each step of the way. Analyzing things like that aint gonna make it easier to watch it. And boycotting it just cuz of that doesnt solve a thing, thats all i'm sayin.

  • Your statement doesn't make sense. What shows are you talking about?

And like the dude said, ain't nuttin' wrong with a well-written show. As for boycotting, that's what gets shows cancelled.

  • Shows that have heroes in them like Buffy, Spiderman, Batman...they all have to make them look good when they're fighting villians. Yeah but Xena didnt get cancelled. He says he boycotted because he thought it was too repetitive i believe. Just came down to who can Xena beat this week but thats what every hero show does. It seems he wanted more musicals than actual action but i did like Bitter Suite. However, the things that happened after that were not worth my boycotting skillz.

  • you got a point with lemon-Artemis....

If they were really desperate gods, they would've just banded together and raised hell, literally, just to kill her instead of charging at her one at a time.....

  • Thank you! Exactly. Unleash the Titans or whatever.

I also disliked that they undid the happy ending that Zeus and Hera got t the end of "Hercules." Why even give them that when they were just going to kill 'em off anyway?

  • "... got AT the end of 'Hercules'" that should have been.

  • And to those who forget, Eve--with whom Xena is pregnant with, here--is a result of Callisto's actions, and is in some way Callisto being reincarnated. Either way, she is a combo of Xena and Callisto.

Meaning this father in question... could very well be considered a woman.

  • I <3 this episode. I do love The Bitter suite more though, but for the emotional aspect of it as well.

  • " who'd you say the father was?" ... parents...if they are convinced that they're right then no amount of singing can change their minds :i
