To transfer SECAM or PAL you'll need a VCR that can convert them- my favorite is the AIWA HV-MX100. What's really cool about this one is that if you have a SECAM or PAL camcorder tape (8mm or miniDV) you can still use this unit for conversions- just play the tape into the VCR and on the other end tell it to 'spit out' NTSC! Or just pop your VHS or VHS-C tapes (with the VHS-C converter) into the unit and tell it to output NTSC. You can find a used one on eBay most of the time.

Hey! does anyone know if I can use this method to transfer SECAM tapes if my cam uses NTSC? Whats the best hardware I can use if not?

About the video camera. Can it be one that plays cassette tapes? or does it have to be one that plays dvds?
