  • Is this drive still good compared to newer drives? I just need one for my OS. I'm looking to pick up a used 80gb that someone has for less than $100 where as newer drives such as OCZ 60gb are $115 + tax + s/h

  • Will this SSD work better/faster than the OCZ Agility 3?

  • Stacking SSD-drives seems fun, but isn't that going to get hot?

  • I just got the X-25M 120GB and it's awesome. Boot times are insane. Just imagine always putting your computer to sleep and waking it up. Mind blowing.

  • dude sounds like a chick

  • 00:08 it's not just a LITTLE BIT faster, it's MUCH faster than the traditional HDD

  • isn't that a 2.5 to 3.5?

  • Hi, are these hard drives for installing software only? what are they for and what are the benefits?

  • that SSD will fit inside my Phantom case ;D

  • @mcnabbmc I've read that the Samsungs aren't that good. I wouldn't get one.

  • Your tech videos are the best on youtube!!! clear n concise

  • Cant wait for SSD go dirt cheap

  • nice view office or house

  • I have one. It's awesome.

  • Hi LinusTechTips, I'm about to buy this drive but I'm thinking about it because it's very expensive. This SSD will be in my laptop to replace my 500 gb 5k400. I don't know if I really need this drive because it's for my studies I won't play on my laptop and I won't do tasks such as hard multimedia compression. I just want a stable system and a secure drive. What should I do ?

  • @warzazette Stay with the HDD. If you're unsure of any upgrades, don't try it. Chances are you'll regret it. Besides, a 500GB SSD is still probably more costly than your Laptop. :) I Also can't actually find one to this date that large.

  • @michaeldraper thanks for your advice michaeldraper I'll keep my hdd :D

  • Have it best money i ever spent

  • I prefer the Corsair Force or Reactor series 60GB SSDs.

  • Can you tell me which is the best, most powerful SSD availble in the market. And can you tell me the price of ATI Radeon HD 5970 and Core i7 Extreme. Thank you very much in advance.

  • @MUHAMMADHASANKHAN1 why can't you look it up? and it all differs for brands

  • alter der typ hat doch keine hobbys und seine stimme ist auch mal zum kotzen -.-

  • just mount it with double sided sticky foam anywhere in the case.

  • what he sais about windows 7 in 2:13 answere plz!

  • what he means with the gene one?

  • @TheXtremeGamer90

    1st Generation.

  • go hit puberty your voice is ratty

  • Great video

  • LinusTechTips, how much are those ssd drives selling for and what's the best place to purchase it for the best price?

  • I also have a question. if this was set up in RAID 0, does TRIM still work? I need garenteed answers.

  • how much does thisproduct cost? Is there one with a higher space compacity?

  • @DreamRaider1111 in europe this product costs 200 euro!

  • Your video made me spend 500$.

  • Do I need to buy a bracket if I buy a SSD for my desktop? Are all brackets universal?

  • I just ordered one 80G, can't wait..

  • So is the end of 3.5"?

  • @projundertax Absolutley unacceptable. I'm straight and that made me mad. I will report this.

  • Good info. Thanks for posting this vid.

  • I have the very same Intel X25-M second generation, and it's my best investment ever.

You'd notice the difference once you have gone back to conventional HDD, after using the SSD for a month.

If someone took away my SSD, I'd cry !

  • @halo2pc How are the speeds at boot up and access files etc with this intel x25 80gb model?

  • @john0022

Hi, regarding the boot up time, I just re-started my pc, to measure the time.

From switching on until windows has come up, it takes 27 seconds for me.

As for your other questions - google is your best friend.

    Good day

  • im not sure whether to go for one of these or an ocz vertex, any thoughts? and what size do u think is the best considering im not made of cash lol.. but like do they differ in performance in size? anything for performance :P

  • OCZ

  • Thanks for posting this video. Will be getting the X25-M and was wondering what a decent 2.5" - 3"5 bay would be.

  • Or you could just let your SSD's dangle

  • Since when does the Intel X25-M G2 80GB Postville support TRIM? AFAIK intel promised to release the TRIM supporting firmware not erlier then the official Win7 release date.

If it realy supports TRIM please post the firmware rev number here...

  • Nope, you're right it doesn't.

TRIM FW will be available in early November.

  • They released the new firmware but they removed it very soon from their site due to minor problems, like data loss.

  • are they making ide ssd drives? for 10 year old laptops? :P

  • Lolz 8 drives dont fit in my case, but i might go for 2 of these in RAID0 then, if i can afford it :-)

  • i might look into one of these for my laptop :P

  • Do want...

  • What would be the better deal, this drive or the WD velociraptor? (not looking @ capacity)

  • This drive will KILL the Velociraptor for performance.

  • @LinusTechTips is ok to use ssds with games??

  • @Thet3 The SSD is faster in data transfer rate than a conventional HD. It otherwise operates and communicates to the PC the same way. Why wouldn't it be any good for a game? In fact, it should be better for one reason: they are blazingly fast!

  • @Thet3 they will load your game in 4 seconds

  • @LinusTechTips Agreed! Even TWO VR's in RAID 0 can't beat this drive on it's own.

  • Yeah, the SSD is even faster than two Velociraptors in RAID-0.

  • i have 8 velociraptors in raid 0 and 2 640 gb harddrives in raid 1 so i dont care :D

  • So you might have real baaad reaction-times lool.... self owned

  • lolll wat does failure rate calculate to?

  • @GoreKoala Any good SSD will beat the velociraptor, even in RAID.

  • Oh god, I'm having wet dreams about these SSDs. Anyone know how these handle partitions?

  • Will it support TRIM on a RAID-array?

  • I saw more Mount unboxing than SSD

  • Yeah I agree.

I guess a big part of the reason I wanted to demonstrate the mount was that it gives a much better "for scale" comparison, as well as helping viewers appreciate the compact size of an SSD and how they can install more drives in the same space.

    Wanted to make that point.

  • Ah I wasn't being critical, just teasing. By the way I got one of these from NCIX and love it, and to be honest the video sold me on the mount which I just ordered this morning. Thanks Linus

  • Why the fuck are you so rushing when showing shit off..

  • Why's it matter?

  • cause it is a unbox not a full review

  • I think the timing is great. It isn't a review of the drive, it's unboxing. Are you expecting him to show you every angle of the box? Thanks, Linus.

  • Maybe he overclocked his brain.

  • @lemonrind

seems like a stable overclock if u ask me , i could perfectly understand him and nothing got crashed ^^

  • they're still too expensive.

  • He's not gay, he's Linus!
