WT does have some effective stuff but reality check!!! - any good MMA guy who has been fighting & training hard for a year or more will easily smash someone that has done WT for 4 or 5 years because they are fighting, training hard, practicing only effective techniques. The WT person is doing wooden dolly, loads of chi sao, forms, traditional movements, etc = less time on real fighting & techniques you will use. Most WT people do not train anywhere near as hard as MMA guys.
but taangerk against a massive low kick is not possible.... but we learned that anyway in the '90s!!i guess LT was not aware of REAL muythai kicking, nor kernspecht right?
I personally don`t believe anthing that Leung Ting has to say about Ip Man.Also you can not apply the term Bong Or Tan for the leg techniques. You can find the chi gerk techniques from the mook jong.
Chi Gerk also has a lineage back to Tibet where the term 'Goat Riding Stance' can be traced. In the Traditional Wing Tsun system that I teach we have a very similar exercise to Sifu Sergio's. Nice to see Paul here also. You are looking well!
@MasterJulianHitch I am not sure that you are as informed as you make out. Why don't you go to Tibet and not come back. As a Master I am sure you can achieve that.
@MasterJulianHitch Interesting. i have always heard it called "goat shaving stance" as it was used to hold the goat in place with your knees? I suppose those details dont matter so much but I enjoy the origin of words and so forth. Like that all terms in wing chun (bong, tan, pak, etc.) are verbs.. this shows that they are things in motion and not a static pose.. I have seen monks from tibet practicing wing chun in their maroon robes :)
Thank you for posting this video. I am a sifu (7th generation under Ip Man) and in the Leung Sheung lineage. I teach my students Chi Gurk and we practice this, and many other Chi gurk exercises that were passed down to me from Leung Sheung via my lineage which is: Ip Man> Leung Sheung> Kenneth Chung> Ben Der> Ken Werner> Karl Godwin> Bill Graves> Jonathan Petree.

We learned a lot of this in WT..i always thought it was a part of the original system because it fits so well in..
Who ever developed chi-gerk and incorporated it into his teaching was clearly following the WC concept / philosophy.
In my humble opinion it is a good add on.
Even if you never learned it chi-gerk, and you do you're Wing Chun correctly, you do chi-gerk without even realizing that you are doing it..

I've learned from 4 students of Yip Man and they say that Yip Man never taught Chi Geuk (gerk). So I agree with Sifu Sergio.
