English: Scjaraçule Maraçule, the far light and the trap, the baby is sleeping, but stain powder, O Scjaraçule Maraçule, with the rocket and the walnut, the girl is a trap and the boy even more. This song was sang from old friulian 'witches' from 1500 to 1800.
  • @fredericktheregister It was associated to witches in 1600, originally it was sang by the "Benandanti", a cult linked to the Alexandrinian origin of friulan evangelization. They sang it in the Middle Age, during their rituals in which they walked keeping in hand a stick (Sjarazula) and a fennel (Marazula). The text you reported is modern, composed in the XX century, the original one is lost.

  • Excellent!*****

  • Glad you enjoyed my old recording.
