  • Cute! Sounds just like my cat, only without the annoying whiny meow.

The American Cockroach is by far the cutest cockroach in terms of looks, though.

  • I want those! but mum is scared of them hahah...:s i think they r kinda cute :D my friend has lots of animals...i go visit them often ^^

  • omg

  • AAAA!!! Lmao

  • Best video ever.

  • whenever i see a bug.This is wat i do...

1st thing---Run and grab either my knife, taser,or airsoft gun and shoot it/tase it/stab it.

2nd thing---if i were to have my axe near me and my lighter i'd flamethrower it.

3rd thing---Grab anything i can see and throw it at it

4th thing...---Get my laser and aim at it so close it will burn!

  • @BUNNIEZHELL are you 5? seriously. none of those things would be effective and why would you even want to kill it. there is nothing wrong with bugs

  • @CRohan793 they're ugly.

  • lol a cockroach killing ad next to a friendly cockroach video

  • FUCK that...

  • FAIL!

  • @sesamechicken101 Ain't nothing more "succeed" than a cockroach. ;^) I've read estimates that would have them surviving where almost nothing else will.

  • @cephalothorax Given testing that was done, Roaches while not the most resiliant creature, will easily outlive humans, mammals and pretty much everything else in case of biological, chemical or even nuclear warfare.

A roach is definately by no means a fail, more fantastic and fascinating

  • @NeonFlash Bacteria are the critters that display success and survival most strongly. Roaches are still fairly complex organisms.

  • I would like to get one or two hissing cockroaches, they look interesting :)

  • hmm, I should get one of these....I'll name it erh.....

    Steve.

  • I had two of them and named them hitler and mussolini

  • @NicoleHeckYes Funny stuff... Brilliant.

  • @NicoleHeckYes lol you sir are epic

  • Im scared of roaches and this doesnt help

  • @TheTaylorJohnson1 If you want to be less afraid of them, learn everything you can about them. The reality is often far less scary than what our imaginations can cook up in our heads. :)

  • @TheTaylorJohnson1, anyone who has seen this video will be attacked by a giant cockroach on the 13th night of the Jojoba festival in the year of the dragon. You are doomed.

  • we have one at school....his name is fred I named him.....there was another one named satern but he died :( they are very interesting to watch

  • @SharkKid42 I love the name! Fred is a great choice. :D

  • For some reason the 'commentary' in this is awesome.

It's weird, I love spiders and mantises but I can't stand roaches, although it's not as bad as slugs and caterpillars. I can't even look at them.

  • @0BatGirl0 The humour isn't lost on me either. I'm freaked out by moths. Doh!

  • @cephalothorax That's understandable, they have a terrible habit of flying directly at your face!

I think my fears probably came from my mother, she would freak out around roaches, caterpillars and slugs, so from a young age I guess I just learned to fear them too.

  • @0BatGirl0 I used to be scared of snakes too, but we don't have any dangerous ones here. When my girls were younger I sucked it up one day when they were curious about a small one they'd found outside and showed them there was nothing to fear. I was crapping myself inside. They went on to have no fear of frogs and snakes and such. It was a small price to pay and then I went on to be taught to love them from those same girls. LIfe...

  • hly crap that couldn't be on me or near me 1 of 2 thing might've happened

    1. i scream and run

    2. i throw watever i can at it until its dead, even if it means destroying the room its in

    lol i hate bugs...............

  • @icyblade4452 Hate? That's way too strong a word. ;^) There was a time when I didn't know the first thing about them either, but that changed as I got curious and then my whole idea about them changed. Keep an open mind.

  • @cephalothorax its not that i dont know anything about them............ i jus dont like bugs

  • @icyblade4452 lmaooo totally there was once a flying roach in my living room and I screamed then my older brother threw a black ball across the room and I thought it was another one so I started to cry lol. I freakn... cant stand bugs >_< I cant sleep at night without earplugs cuz well... I dont want one to crawl in my ear. lmfao paranoid me much XD

  • @PokemonVampireKisses lol

i wouldn't have cried, i would've jus like quarantined that room forever lol

  • @icyblade4452 lol thatd be hilarious like plastic wrap all over the room, but yeah me and roaches deffinently dont mix >_<

  • @mannyi03 lol same

  • Do they bite?

  • @jiroubu They don't bite at all. They just feel really weird on your hand, but they don't hurt you. I think they're really cool. Very strange bugs, but I like that about bugs. Don't get one that has it's antenna cut. That means it's been bred and might have babies.

  • @jiroubu I have been bitten, but you'd have to really provoke it. Just handling it usually doesn't "help."

  • woah a cockroach i dont want to step on great

  • why do u have a bug for a pet?

  • @iluvcynder I have a bug for a pet because ignorance is evil and I like to learn. ;^)

  • Isn't this a female? I can never get my girls to hiss.

  • @zolo1243 A quick check with Google will keep you straight on the sexes. Mine hisses most after it's been ignored for a few days.

  • @zolo1243 I can never remember which is which. I seem to remember that the the females will have their antenna lopped off if they've been bred, which this one hasn't. I think you're right.

  • @cephalothorax males are lighter in color and have bigger "horns." That's the easiest way to tell.

  • @zolo1243 females have humps where males have horns. The one in this picture is female. Females only make a disturbed hiss (This only hiss when you bother them.)

  • @GamerAmps

Yep, but there are exceptions. I had a female with horns (I knew she was female by the shape of her ventral plate), but she recently got very sick and died. Poor girl.

  • @zolo1243 she was probably quite the masculine one for a female. Warrior princess?

  • @GamerAmps

Perhaps. She hissed a lot too!

  • @zolo1243 wierdo u collect roaches ewww

  • @TheBubbles10

    How old are you?

  • Don't think he was ready to be on TV, hisses of anger.

  • @RamseyBoy88 Ya he's a shy dude. I don't think a defensive posture necessarily means anger though. Often I hear people describe snakes and reptiles as angry too, but it's almost always clear to me that the response is defensive and nothing else.

  • @RamseyBoy88 Ya he's a shy dude. I don't think a defensive posture necessarily means anger though. Often I hear people describe snakes and reptiles as angry too, but it's almost always clear to me that the response is defensive and nothing else.

  • @RamseyBoy88 More like defense I think. They don't have much more to offer than a bark. I've yet to experience a bite.

  • @cephalothorax they don't ever bite no matter how much you piss them off. At most, they can hurt you by kicking their spikes into your skin.

  • @GamerAmps yeah, those spines can draw blood though if you have them pinned, which is really the only time they do that.

  • @RamseyBoy88

That cockroach was a female :P

  • what does it mean when they hiss. anger, scared, or may be preparing to attack

  • I don't know about the anthropomorphic language. I expect it's just a defensive posture to help they from getting gobbled up by predators so often. ;^)

  • @cephalothorax way late for this, i know but all madagascan roaches have a hiss. the normal hiss you hear is a defense mechanism. the males have that hiss and a fighting hiss which is self- explanatory on what it does.

  • they do it when they are scared and/or mating

  • @carnews333 it means they are annoyed

  • Teach it some manners! :P

  • I know! His teachers at school say the same thing. ;^)

  • Very compact video, and yet it did have everything in it that I expected it to. Very nice, five stars!

  • So kind of you to say so. No editing involved either. I just got lucky. ;^)

  • i got a tank of them in my school im not sure if they were as big as that one though

  • it hissed!

  • tthey can survive nuclear bombz and eat wallapaper books anything they could find

so what im wondering is why the hell would you want a cockroach in your house -.-

  • Maybe you haven't been following along. Read up pal, it makes for better and more informed comments.

  • idk i jsut freaked cause i saw a cockroach crawl ing on the edge of my sink yesterday

i dont wanem in my house though id proably keep some sort of bug as a pet i mean i like the fuzzy brown catterpillars

  • Education is key. I keep two males. Keep up the good work.

  • @mzh3000 These types only eat fruits and vegetables thats why they are clean and people hold them

  • This kind of cockroach may be cute, but the american cockroach and similar ones, are really scary.

  • I think they all deserve more respect than they are given. They're way too resilient to be taken lightly. If I kept them for feeders again I would not feed them live. It's too tough to control them outside a double bin colony that's carefully managed. They are amazing escape artists even if they are known to not climb things. I keep two male hissers now, but no feeders at all. I went back to crickets.

  • Are they hard to keep?

  • They are really easy to keep. I keep mine on ripped up newsprint and feed them carrot for moisture and ground grain for food. Very easy.

  • I see, so i can keep them in a small aquarium with riped newspaper and some wet food? im curious about them, i would like to buy, and have some in my house for curiosity but im still not used to grab one of those since im a roach-phobic o.o

  • that was strangely cute

  • A Radroach kill it it will bite you!!

  • Silly!!!!!!

  • this made me laugh alot

  • I keep them to educate the ignorant. I used to keep Blatta lateralis - Turkestan roach as feeders and stopped keeping them for the reasons you are concerned about. They are wickedly good at spreading. It took me a year to clear the building that contains my herp room. I was very careful with double enclosures like one might have in a lab and I still couldn't contain them all. I keep two male hissers. No babies, thanks. :)

  • i went to a history museum the other day in oxford and they let u hold them and wen they hissed every1 screamed it was so funny =]

they tickled me wen i held them lol XD

  • I think they tickle like crazy. I always have a big grin on my face when I have these guys on my hand. Sounds like a great day at the museum!

  • that is so cool its like a cat that hisses thats funny,my mom said she loves it but she doesnt want to see one in real life she likes them on the computer.

  • "That would be it"

    Lol..

    Amazing( =

  • I want one of those.. But I can't find any in Toronto D:

  • Hang out on a web forum for reptile breeders in your area. I know one out your way has loads of them. Ask for Jeff at Exclusive Dragons. He'll hook you up.

  • LOL come to the ROM, we have plenty ;)

  • the madagascar hissing cockroach !

  • Very cool.

  • For some reason, I found that funny.

  • It was certainly shot with that intent. heheh... I wish I could get my savannah monitor to fire up on cue.

  • me 2

  • Finally I was able to hear one hiss.....

  • niice!

  • lolololool so funny, anyways can u get that in pet stores??

  • im pretty sure u cant but there r many other ways to obtain them

  • check out my channel

no vids yet but plzz subscribe!!!

  • Were do you purchase these?

It may sound mean, but I have a bearded dragon I wanted a pair of bredder cockroaches so I can feed it to them. Wouldn't mind having them as a temporary pet! And how much are they? I already have money for a holding bin, but how much do you think... eh, maybe two breeders would cost? If you can help I'd VERY much appreciate it! ^___^ I love these guys they're cute!

  • The MHC's are actually (if i'm not mistaken) toxic for animals to consume. i'd stick with pinkies, crickets, worms, salad, catfood, & the occasional tortoise chow. i guess a juvenile MHC wouldn't do any harm...i'd check online for breeders, can't donate or sell them from where i work lol, sorry!

  • the MHC have a toxin that nums the face and mouth if counsumed. they r still good pets

  • this is the only cockroach i think is cute.

  • i hear that they like to be petted

  • cute

  • Hehe!~ At a school I wuz helping, I got to hold one... I was a helper.. and everythim I held it.. it would run, and I'd drop it and get scared it'll run away.. x.x But they're so cute ta me!~~~

  • I'm sure there are those that might think that of our species. heh We fear what we don't know generally.

  • i will say that they are beautifull if they don sound that mean

  • ^wow...ive seem millions but u actully touch em and stuff cool

  • I have one of these for a pet.

  • Yep, I've go about 100 of them.

  • do you guys keep them as pets or something lol

  • One of my daughters keeps one as a pet.

  • hahaha. lolz. i have about 300 of those as pets. lolz

  • I figure I do fairly well for the bandwidth available to me. If I had more than dialup, I'd probably get into some longer ones, but I really haven't had anything I've wanted to drag out yet.

At over ten minutes, you video would take me about an hour to load. That's living, where the air is clean and the bears are still shy and I can catch fish in my back yard.

    Fixed wireless is coming!!

    Peace

  • In that case I take my comment back. I wish I lived in a place like that !

  • she's cute! mine likes chips.

  • Too funny! Must be the salt.

  • maybe.

  • It's just a cockroach. People, if you are scared of this thing, you are a total coward. You can't argue with that. Besides, the Madagascar hissing cockroach is the best kind there is. The largest, oderless, wingless, harmless, awesome cockroach.

  • Education is key. We all have chinks in our armour that we may or may not be aware of.

  • Sorry, I don't speak that language! Haha, just kidding. But seriously. Elaborate. I'm not that smart.

  • It's likely a language best found under your own steam, at least it was for me.

    Peace

  • ur weirding me out.

  • It's one of my strenghts. :) Do you keep some kritters?

  • i have an emperor scorpion named Lucille. she's a big and docile critter.

  • I miss my big guy. :( Maybe one of the two emps I have now will grow big. I should warm them up.

  • mine's huge. she has got to be about 7 or 8 inches.

  • lol thats a scary looking bug but its cool!! =]

  • Yup. It took me a bit to get use to it. It kind of lurches forward when it hisses too which is a bit off putting in the beginning. ehh

  • *touches roach8*

    RAGGLE FRAGGLE!!!11!1one1!

    *roach jumps on ur face*

    ARRGH!!

    *panic ensues*

  • o shit jesus, it'sa rattlesnake!

  • Oh ya... some kind of weird!

  • do they stink?

  • No they don't stink. I'm keeping a colony of Blatta lateralis - Turkestan roachs and they aren't nearly as bad as crickets. I've never seen a colony of the hissers, but this one is pretty much odorless.

  • yuck, it sounds like a rattlesnake kinda

  • Ya it used to creep me out, but now I'm used to it. My new 2 year old savannah monitor really makes a cool sound. :D

  • What do you try to feed him?

  • Neat Vid. ^_^

  • It's my daughter's critter. It's neat, but I'm amazed it's still alive. Hasn't eaten since we got it two months ago! It is neat though, I agree.

  • Yeah, It takes alot to kill those things.

  • yeah they're probably the only creatures that would survive a nuclear war

  • They eat anything really mostly rotting fruit. If you havent seen it eat yet its probably eating bark in its tank or whatevers in there.

  • It's all settled in now and eats properly. I have a colony of Turkestan roaches and they do well on fish flakes, so that's what this one gets. It also has access to a mixed grain.

  • this sucks balls... like your mommy did to me last nite

  • Some people say that there is no difference between man and a jackass. But this wrongs the jackass. (Mark Twain)

  • In the constitution it says that all men are created equal. Well that's not quite true lol. Some are dumber than others.

  • ;^) Maybe that's where Mark Twain got it!

  • Your best bet is to ingore the ass holes. I don't know why people feel they have to talk shit on the internet.

  • And lose my opportunity to enlighten the ignorant with vocabulary skills? heh Never! As long as it's fun, I'm in like a dirty shirt.

  • When I lived in Prescott AZ there were hissing beatles that would climb up on the screen door by the hundreds. I think they were attracted to the light inside of the house or something. I was a kid then and I would try to flick them off the screen and they would hang on and hiss at me. Weird stuff.

  • lol. I live in scottsdale, and i see those 1 pound things almost everyday.

  • >.> eew

  • Eww man thats Gross
