Maybe to watch a sheep get plundered by a coyote is a little more than a herder could bear. Sheep average heights are 2-4 feet.. wolves are 2-2.5 feet. Coyotes are 20-25 inch tall. If it was a coyote it would be much smaller then the sheep. Compare the height first. Also a coyote tail are much more bushier and lower to the ground. Also they have a more pointier ear while wolves are rounder. Coyote only hunt small animal
