Mu? Mu is fucking easy. At some point you get Psycho Slider and then everything becomes running around sliding everywhere because it's awesome. Having trouble with the boss? Too bad, use Psycho Slider and be invincible the entire time while dealing damage to both of them. EZPZ.
I've played through this game so many times that I can beat it without using a single herb, and it's reached the point where I don't think of Mu as being difficult anymore. But seeing these comments has reminded me of how much trouble I had on my first playthrough.
Yeah this was the one dungeon me, my brother, and stepdad kept getting stuck at. Back then, we rented it, we had no idea how to beat it, and the instruction booklet was tattered to sheds (which for all we know might've been from the previous renter's dog). Eventually I decided to ask for a fresh copy for christmas so I could finally beat this haunting level for good, with the help of an undamaged booklet which might as well have been the game's miniature strategy guide. *sigh* Nostalgia... ~_~
Hey everybody! I have released my new album 'Progenitor' which has electronic music inspired by great games such as Illusion Of Gaia. It’s up on my channel ORTmusic to check out and download!
You know what was worse then the puzzles in Mu? Only having one hit point and those floating cloaked guys shooting those plasma circles at you. I had to slide out of their way just to stop myself from dying, but unfortunately I ran into one at the time.
Gaaah MU, this was a very tedious temple with lots of backtracking, confusing and it nags on your nervs. The Song actually captures the mood there perfectly. Gaia, one of the best games.
Mu is definitely one of those areas in a video game that you HATE but the game just couldn't be without. When I went from Sky Garden to Mu I was thinking, "Are you shitting me? Pretty sure there was no "level up" anytime in this game ANYWHERE, assholes!"
I only hate Mu when I'm there. The Vampires were some of the most difficult Bosses to beat in any game I've played (although it got easier as I got older, the first time I was 8). Still tho... I feel the rage deep down inside for this sadistic level bubble and creep up when I hear the music... The memory of ALWAYS dying on the very first mob in that level makes me sick, but I wouldn't change a single thing about the game. The difficulty is weaksauce leaving the character xD!
Mu is Atlantis. Strangely enough the guy who decided to decipher the Mayan language just invented random letters for the hieroglyphs he found. Two of which represented some sort of sunken island, and in his "translated" script it was "Mu".
It's confusing on the first playthrough that's for sure, took me a good time to get through when i first played this game, but great temple and the music- fantastico!
@Thedutchjelle It sure wasn't easy. I think in retrospect I might have made it harder than it needed to be, but this was certainly the high point in difficulty in the game, especially if you hadn't been diligently clearing every map area before now.
@Thedutchjelle Probably just speaking for myself. I was 13 when the game came out. I always find old games are easier in the tough parts when I go back and play them again much later.
@Thedutchjelle Shit mu was mad fun and I like the music and level I know it's annoying runnning back and forth draing the water but it is what it is, the onlything I hate about Mu is the bosses, they don't match the theme of the dungeon cause
Laira cliff = weird dragon kinda makes sense
Sky Garden = Bird thing makes sence
mu = vampires ??? no
great wall of china = sand fanger yeah makes sence
the music really captures the atmosphere. it's bleak, and probably the toughest dungeon of the game. you get few powerups for ages, hard bosses (especially with Will.. didn't even realise you could fight with Freedan initially), hard enemies, and only a couple of rest spots. Pretty good stuff.
You had to do something, backtrack, do something else, backtrack again, and then backtrack some more until you actually got to where you wanted to go.
And then the Bosses killed you. And because the monsters are hard and you don't get any bonuses for the first two thirds of Mu, you have no lives, and you forgot to save.
The first ten seconds kind of feels like you're in a maze surrounded by monsters while all your friends are lost and in danger... So I guess it's accurate.
a god awful maze followed by some of the most difficult bosses ever....and yet this was always the level that always stayed in my mind. this game rules
Not sure where MU itself is in real life, but if I remember correctly, on the game's world map (or on the map that was inside the game box that my family had), MU is around the general area of an island that looks sort of like Easter Island.
This Spaniard decided to destroy all writing tablets of the MAYA, and a few that survived he decided to translate on the whim. One of which he said represented Atlantis, and the Mayans called it Mu. So Mu = Atlantis.
I read somewhere on wikipedia that there is a rumor that mu was another continent lost alltogether that was of a civilization even older than egyptian culture.
What i want to know,is where did they get some of the statue of faces?
ye i fucking hated that piece of shit level! and its music! argh :D
but was a good game.. i just never found out why the hell i tear my ass up to find 50 jewels, beat that monster boss thing, and then nothing happened...
haha fuck this place!! omg...I remember walking around lost as hell..and then finally finding it and it was one slightly different left then the one I took before....
Why were water temples so damn hard and annoying in the good ol' days?
I always HATED doing this level. You always had to backtrack. I don't know, the feeling of this level was just annoying. So was Mt. Temple
I love this game, and love going back and playing it. Sometimes I wish they would port it to VC, DS, or maybe remake it for some system. Either way, I LOVED this game

I circled & backtracked round this dungeon so many times. It was a pretty big, and frustrating.
I remember that I was constantly doing Will's slide kick on every single spot. And I always hated those bouncy bubbles...
Also, It's better to use Freedan, In this dungeon the only thing Will's good for is sliding in the smaller area's

This level was a bitch, especially the boss(es). They were even hard when I had to revisit them in Babel!

Mu is probably one of the hardest dungeons I'll ever play in a videogame.
It's just pure evil.

But Mu sucks. :(

Mu is a legendary continent, supposedly located somewhere in the South Pacific.

It doesn't. It's suppose to represent Atlantis.
