I fucking love this live, but if anyone here will say Shinya sucks I will blow up his retarded head and slowly cut his body so he will die in such pain he deserves. Moral of the story: Don't insult my favourite drummer~
kyo's look now with his black hair looks great he looks profesional and like legit, but to me this look he looks like hes on drugs. i like the new look.:)
Who dares to compare Diru to Slipknot or Korn. Diru is one of the darkest bands [lyrics] I know, and Slipknot and Korn don't even come CLOSE to Diru's brilliancy.
@Skid20055 I'm not sure about the validity of the word "brilliancy"but Dir En Gray are certainly darker than the teenage angst of Korn or Slipknot and you don't even have to look at the lyrics to work that out. They are a lot more expressive in their music, live act and videos and even though it strictly isn't my sort of music now I've gotten older, I really appreciate the artistic merit.
You guys have to be fucking deaf if you don't hear some early Korn influence in this song, just listen to the bass and guitars, I'm not saying this band sounds like Korn, but this song kinda does.
@TheDragonlord103 I've heard the studio and live versions, and I must say the kind of guitar riffs are pretty similar what Korn used to play in their early songs, there's a CLEAR influence in this track.
hey EVERYONE!!!!! SHUT THE FUCK UP AND JUST LISTEN!!!! DIR EN GREY IS THE ONLY AND FUCK OFF IF YOU COMPARE THEM TO SHITTY AMERICAN BANDS LIKE KORN AND SLIPKNOT!
@ThrashingInAcidRain lol. Korn isnt shitty. I dont see whats so shitty about Korn. Dir en grey and korn have amazing lyrics and songs. Slipknot on the other hand. Huge fucking sell outs. Fun music to listen to. But huge fucking sell outs.
Its from year 2008^^ at the hide memorial summit. RIP hide. well.. I love that live^^ kyo isnt cutting himself because he had a bad childhood (he didnt had a bad childhood, he said that it was just normal like everyones) i think, hes cutting himself because of his emotions, I mean, srsly read the lyrics, you guys know what i'm talkin about. i'm glad that he stopped doing that live, also i dont like that he cut himself at a memorial summit..-__- anyway.. I love Kyo <3
I wonder if Kyo hurts himself because he is tormented by some deeply traumatic childhood horror like most self abusers. The performance was great but honestly it does bother me to see him hurt himself and bleeding. Maybe its a turn on or relievement for him. Guess I just care too much....
@ankl3deep Thanks because Kyo in general sometimes weirds me out but I love their sound and Toshiya and Shinya. But isn`t it real when he scratches himself up? You have to admit some of the stuff he does is throwed off but sometimes I like throwed off.
@SATOunbroken It's just kind of obvious. On tour he usually does the same kind of stuff at exactly the same point in the show every time. If he actually cut the same spot in his arm that many times for every show of the tour he would have cut clean through the bone by then.
@deathsinatrix93 Kyo mentioned about his lyrics being the foundation against which suffering and realistic pain in which we bear in the real world can be compared and contrasted. Cutting himself is a common theatricality found in many performances. I find it much less painful to watch than pop singers gyrating to auto tuned voices and technically boring looped tunes.
wow. I cannot believe that anybody criticised Diru due to skill level! I mean, if you don't like them, fair enough, but to criticise their skills as musicians? Are you crazy? Shin is an amazing drummer, Kaoru and Die are fantastic guitarists and complete riff machines, Toshi is an awesome bass player and Kyo, he is an extremely talented vocalist and front man. LONG LIVE DIRU!
@jackxu1 It's about abortion. The lyrics are all in japanese, but he says "Blood, babies and sacrifice" in the bridge in the middle. Look up a translation vid, theyre great lyrics.
@girlpride14X3 Probably not. Kyo just has a very strange style of vocal delivery, but IMO, it works perfectly. The slur on the clean vocals fits the setting of the songs quite nicely.
WHOA Toshiya is damn cool here =D He doesn't usually play Obscure like that though. Haha, it's a pretty boring song bass-wise so I guess decided to "spice it up" It's such a cool technique, not propper slapping, he's just wacking the hell out of that bass! 8D
Diru sounds like Diru and not like Korn or Slipknot . . . Do you ever thought that Korn and Slipknot sounds like Dir En Grey . . . ?! Godbless Diru !!!
@28fatkidsLater Dir En Grey obviously has the Korn Element since their partialy Nu-Metal Not so much Slipknot, Hence their low tunned like korn, The bassist mimics Fieldys style in some performances and has a similar sound as him and Dir en grey only started in 1997 Korn and Slipknot Are older. Non the less this band is brilliant and godbless them indeed
@28fatkidsLater KoRn came way before Dir en Grey. They had that sound way before them too. It's ok for them to be influenced by them. Slipknot is obviously influenced by them too. That doesn't make them any less talented or great as musicians.
hey im needing alot of help i found music video by them awhile back and now i cant rember the name it was like 11 mins long and i was whanting to downlaod it but cant rember the name plz help
Hmmm Am I the only one who kinda see's these guys as the Japanese SlipKnot? More or less the older SlipKnot. Like their creepier songs you know? I see so much of that in here. I love the freaky tainted feel here.
@CrypticGrudge In a sense.. but theres a huge difference between Dir en grey and Slipknot... Slipknot likes to sound like utter gross tones and repetitivness when it comes to their songs... Just cause they don't care.. Dir en grey doesn't care what people want, but they do care about what they wanna throw out. They take a lot of time and pride into what they write and express it live.. And it can go from one extreme to the next in their genre all the time. Slipknots always heavy
@FacingItAlone Not quite. I think Slipknot puts as much work into their music as anyone else. And I kinda felt that Dir en Grey sounded more like Korn, kinda cause of the emphasis on rhythm and the bass being more noticeable, rather than drowned out by the rest of the band, as Slipknot tends to do. And Slipknot isn't always heavy, especially in their past two albums.
Drummer sucks? Are you serious? The song might not be that demanding but alot of their other stuff (especially Vinushka) is very technical. Glad you like the song though. :)
@Lostman916 Sucks? Everyone how actually knows something about playing the drums, should see he`s very good. I play myself, and I`m not nearly as good as Shinya but still I admire him. You can`t judge about him after listening to one song. I agree with Crackapples1337, you should listen to Vinushka. It`s quite good.
Like said before... really NOTHING gives you the right to say Shinya sucks. He a really good, appreciated drummer. You don`t even know his name, obviously, so I bet you didn`t hear much of his music either. First think, then talk,

yeah that is a very sweet video but dude there playing to backing track with his vocals played back so ofcourse its gonna sound better where as here its all live with not so many dubs
Well this is the Hide Memorial Summit (commemorating the 10th anniversary of X Japan guitarist Hide's death). It's expected that they be showing some respect for the man, which would explain why they don't exactly seem "into it".
I don't think it's that. Because if they were to show respect, they wouldn't be playing loud and hard shit like that on HIS Memorial. I think it's because Japanese people actually have respect for others and don't get too crazy like the Americans here. Because during the American Dir en grey Tour, I just saw a bunch of Americans moshing and beating the crap out of each other, but not the Asians in the audience.
"they wouldn't be playing loud and hard shit like that". hide probably would've enjoyed music like this considering he had an exquisite taste for music. It's easy to figure that out if you listen to all his music (X Japan, Zilch, Spread Beaver..)
most venue's in japan tend to be like that with everyone "sitting down behaveing" if you look at any gig there most are like that. tbh it must be pretty daunting for bands.
I fucking love this live, but if anyone here will say Shinya sucks I will blow up his retarded head and slowly cut his body so he will die in such pain he deserves. Moral of the story: Don't insult my favourite drummer~

Check out "Dir en grey- Obscure live (Blitz 5 Days)".
On that vid they're just fucking epic.
Also, they're wearing the same outfit as in the obscure music video.

they are badasss in that video. But keep in mind your voice does tend to take a toll when using the kinda vocals hes using
ChildoftheKoRnf9 2 years ago
yeah that is a very sweet video but dude there playing to backing track with his vocals played back so ofcourse its gonna sound better where as here its all live with not so many dubs
finalsky666 2 years ago
I know they're playing with a backing track with all the effects from the original song.
Are you sure about the vocals though? It sounds pretty much different from the original.

Was it just me or was the audience not feeling it?

Well this is the Hide Memorial Summit (commemorating the 10th anniversary of X Japan guitarist Hide's death). It's expected that they be showing some respect for the man, which would explain why they don't exactly seem "into it".
coasterman927 3 years ago
I don't think it's that. Because if they were to show respect, they wouldn't be playing loud and hard shit like that on HIS Memorial. I think it's because Japanese people actually have respect for others and don't get too crazy like the Americans here. Because during the American Dir en grey Tour, I just saw a bunch of Americans moshing and beating the crap out of each other, but not the Asians in the audience.

"they wouldn't be playing loud and hard shit like that". hide probably would've enjoyed music like this considering he had an exquisite taste for music. It's easy to figure that out if you listen to all his music (X Japan, Zilch, Spread Beaver..)
jenkun666 2 years ago
most venue's in japan tend to be like that with everyone "sitting down behaveing" if you look at any gig there most are like that. tbh it must be pretty daunting for bands.
