I don't agree. facebook has provided no impetus for advancing deaf rights, it is trivia centric, it also to a large degree prevents direct access (People to people), which is essential for effective deaf community. You can't run your social life sat at a computer. The point about facebook being made in that it enhances the deaf community politically has not been validated.

I think that some deaf organizations are clueless about social media advantages and strategies...Business Convention and Expo of the Deaf, May 27-30,2010 in Houston,TX,U.S.A. The biz event will have program to educate and introduce people to social media advantages and benefits. I am sure deaf biz owners and organisations will learn a lot there!
