well there's some soft songs but you can feel like a sense of emotion when you listen to them
like damned and divine or the heavier version
damned vampire and gothic divine and ciaran's well. they are the songs with the most guitaring in it
the songs suit her voice and stuff and I think she did a good job. theres more heavier guitar in it than some other female fronted bands and some nightwish songs but i still think both nighwish and tarja turunen are brilliant

Just came back from the NYC show...it was awesome, all instruments razor sharp, the only problem was that I had to fill in the blancks for the vocals...good this I was high and I imagined Tarja singing...Tarja forever!!!
Yes she was. She was spending time planning her solo career and running with a new circle of friends to the point where she was dramatically distancing herself from the band.
The guys unanimously decided to cut her from the band and let her work things out for herself.

Why the intense vitriol? Anette just auditioned, it was the band who both fired Tarja and hired Anette. Not only is your anger pointless and stupid, it's directed in the wrong place!
Then you'd realize that they were noticeably moving away from the opera influence and more toward a film score influenced sound in the vein of Blue Oyster Cult and Rhapsody of Fire.
If they made more opera albums, it would have gotten stale. It was time to evolve.

I'm optimistic based on the other stuff I've heard, however I don't think Dark Passion Play will give us a very accurate portrayal of Anette's full capabilities, as everything was written long before she joined.
So the studio's made Tuomas' keyboards sound good too? What kind of rationale is that? And if you like Nightwish, but hate Tarja, that's kinda dumb. What made you like Nightwish in the first place? They didn't put out very many instrumental songs that I can recall where there was no singing. And why doesn't Tuomas do any singing anymore? He's the CEO of the band, he should be singing.

Vocal power? To me it's vocal range + sustainment. Kinda like the castrato singers and why they were surgically altered to achieve. A man has much more lung capacity than a woman, able to hold notes longer than a woman. Removing the jewels allows the greatly increased range, much like a woman. Check out Alessandro Moreschi's (last castrato) 1904 recording of Ave Maria with Tarja's. See how well she stands up to a legend.
My thoughts exactly! I'm seeing their show in November in Phoenix, actually it's in Tempe at the Marquee Theatre. I'm so excited they're coming. Tuomas knew what he was doing and as with everything, it's time to move on. I do hope to see/hear Anette far surpass everyone's bs and low expectations. Ask yourself people, can you sing even a single note with the power and depth like her? Can you bring it? Then shut the fuck up! I want to hear the band, not you.

her new cd does sound like nightwish yes but personally I prefer tarjas work to nightwish
it has that guitaring kick in it that I like also the songs have a more of a darker feel and feel stronger than the nightwish songs
I still like nightwish but I just don't listen to them as much

Then you'd realize that they were noticeably moving away from the opera influence and more toward a film score influenced sound in the vein of Blue Oyster Cult and Rhapsody of Fire.
If they made more opera albums, it would have gotten stale. It was time to evolve.

I'm optimistic based on the other stuff I've heard, however I don't think Dark Passion Play will give us a very accurate portrayal of Anette's full capabilities, as everything was written long before she joined.

So the studio's made Tuomas' keyboards sound good too? What kind of rationale is that? And if you like Nightwish, but hate Tarja, that's kinda dumb. What made you like Nightwish in the first place? They didn't put out very many instrumental songs that I can recall where there was no singing. And why doesn't Tuomas do any singing anymore? He's the CEO of the band, he should be singing.

Vocal power? To me it's vocal range + sustainment. Kinda like the castrato singers and why they were surgically altered to achieve. A man has much more lung capacity than a woman, able to hold notes longer than a woman. Removing the jewels allows the greatly increased range, much like a woman. Check out Alessandro Moreschi's (last castrato) 1904 recording of Ave Maria with Tarja's. See how well she stands up to a legend.

My thoughts exactly! I'm seeing their show in November in Phoenix, actually it's in Tempe at the Marquee Theatre. I'm so excited they're coming. Tuomas knew what he was doing and as with everything, it's time to move on. I do hope to see/hear Anette far surpass everyone's bs and low expectations. Ask yourself people, can you sing even a single note with the power and depth like her? Can you bring it? Then shut the fuck up! I want to hear the band, not you.

I love Nightwish no matter what.
It's sad that Tarja's not a part of the band anymore, but Anette is a good singer too.
I think Nightwish will manage fine without her.
The new songs from Nightwish is really good I think, and Anette is performing them beautifully.

Okay, there have been some stupid comments in this video before, but playing the victim card for being a Tarja fan is just the bottom of the fucking barrel.
People, we got 9 years of music with Tarja fronting the band. But it's been almost 2 years since she was fired. Isn't it time to move on and approach the new album with an open mind?
And to those who say Tarja is the best opera singer, it's pretty fucking obvious you've never listened to a real opera in your life.
