  • Are you getting any image retention or burn in playing consoles on your PV450? Because I got a similar LG a few months ago and even playing for 10 minutes leaves terrible HUD IR for over an hour which sucks and I'm scared using the same game will lead to burn in. Now I can't play and think of anything other than whats happening to the panel!

  • @TwentyEightySeven Nope no burn-in issues. As mentioned in some of my other replies I do get some IR but it literally goes away within 60 seconds of switching out of the game back to a movie or TV. I've never had anything stick for longer than that. Don't think about it, just play. If you are really worried about it just do a color wash on it after you are done playing each time and it will get rid of it within a minute.

  • Dude awesome. Convinced the wife on this tv. I used to have a 54 inch viera, but then I took an arrow in the knee. Also it had a shitload of lag. I'm getting this one in 3 weeks bitches.

  • @redpepper75 Good choice, this set is still going strong for me and I still love it as much as the day I unboxed it. I want a bigger one now though, I just saw an ad for the 60" version of this for $999 at Best Buy.

  • How is the 600 refresh rate? do the games look smoother than on a 60hz tv?

and can you use this with a playstation 3 & a pc at the same time? and easily switch over between them? please tell me! thank you.

  • @colpictures It's just like watching a CRT or rear projection TV, there's no detectable crappy motion blur that's associated with LED/LCD's. Yes you can have both hooked up simultaneously and easily switch between the two with the remote.

  • @FragTek Thank you, i just ordered my tv, and cant wait : )

  • @FragTek

Plasma motion still isn't quite as good as CRT, but it's a great step up from LCD. Instead of the blurring there may be noticable dithering....I've noticed when playing Super Mario Galaxy when zipping the camera around, but it definitly beats the blur no question. ;p

And I'm extremely sensitive to lag, even the smallest. Motion Controlled/Wii pointer titles such as metroid Prime 3 get hampered quite a bit when it comes to input lag. I keep going back to my CRT. sigh* ;p

  • @Donatello97 If you notice the dithering you either sit way to close to the set or you have your brightness cranked way way too high.

  • @FragTek

I was at aound 9/12 feet and i still kind of noticed it, only when i was in control of the camera and zipping it around. but then again, you really have to look for it to really notice it. How's the phosper trailing on this set? I feel like I'm pretty much done with my LCD.The motion handeling and weak black levels are getting on my nerves.i was thinking of going with either the Panasonic ST30 42" 1080p plasma or the LG 720p PT350 42" plasma, not too sure yet, need to test them out.

  • @Donatello97 Panny makes the best plasma sets in my opinion, at least if you are looking at a high end set. If you are looking at budget sets like I was, I think LG has a slight advantage in the low end price range. They had a comparable 50" Panny at the same price sitting right next to the LG at Sears when I was shopping and I liked the picture and colors better on this LG so I went with it. I'd definitely go with the 1080 set though, I don't think I could ever own another 720 set. :)

  • @FragTek The other "50 inch plasma" you saw at sears was probably the Zenith 50 inch TV. It is identical to the LG. They both use the same panels and they both have the same innards of the insid of the TV. Look it up. Many people on AVS forum confirmed it. The Zenith is cheaper too. Its on sale on some website for $522. Saw it on slick deals.

  • @minority86 Negative, it was a Panasonic.

  • Sup, I was wondering if this TV has any sort of HD lag when playing video games because I'm really interested into getting this TV and the lag on some HDTV is what is keeping me from getting one.

  • @Wilson530000 All HDTV's have some amount of lag, some are better than others. This TV has not affected my gameplay at all which leads me to believe that it doesn't have much latency. I haven't done a real test as it requires a second set, etc, but I feel there's no noticeable lag.

  • I'm new to the Plasma. Do u set it to normal or orbiter? mine is orbiter. how many times do u use color wash or white wash per week or day? When im playing video games, does the health display, map display, score, ammo, etc affects the plasma screen after its left for 4 hours or more? Can u please help me out?

  • @Joker4Prez I keep mine on orbiter. I haven't had a need to use color or white wash yet since buying the set. Any image retention from gaming goes away within 30 seconds or so once I switch to a different game or to watching TV. Those static images while playing games will cause image retention but it won't be permanent unless you let it stay up there for like 24+ hours straight. I wouldn't worry about it. I game a lot on mine, no problems at all.

  • Hey,

is this Flickering noticeable or is it because of the camera.

    Regards,

    Justin

  • @baamtot There's absolutely no flickering. The flickering in the vid is just due to my camera and tv not being synced at the same refresh rate.

  • Could you please upload a vid, which shows the blacklevel in a dark room?

  • @dyinDream I'll try and get around to it. I sold my good Canon HD camcorder so I am stuck with my iPhone for taking vids which doesn't really give a good feel for it.

  • bcb2 vs moh victorie moh my conception

  • I just ordered this tv yesterday from amazon. It should be here in about 8 days or so. Im so excited. Is it pretty slim for a tv? cause i want a slim tv kinda

  • @terryispro Good choice, you will LOVE it! It's an exceptionally thin set. It's not as thin as some of the $5000+ Samsung LED's but it's really darn close.

  • @FragTek Alright cool

  • just bought this from costco online my question is : is it good for xbox360? and also what the hell is this image retention, burn in burn in blabalbal shit??? sorry im new to plasma, its just that ive read somewhere that plasma offers better image quality and faster refresh rates which is good coz im also planning to connect my laptop on it.. its just that my 24" samsung monitor cant go up to 60hz and is a bit small... sir would u kindly educate me bout this burn in, image retention shit.. :-p

  • @KH1523 Image retention is when a ghost image of a static image "sticks" to to screen and you can see outlines of the image even after the image has stopped being displayed. Image retention on this set happens rather easily but it's not permanent meaning that the outline of the image will fade away quickly and does no permanent damage to the screen. True screen "burn-in" is when a static image is displayed so long that it actually damages the panel and the image outlines never go away.

  • @KH1523 You will be just fine using your XBox on this TV without worries of any permanent image retention. However you say you want to use the TV with your laptop as well. Be very careful doing this because this IS how you can damage your panel with permanent burn-in. Computer desktops have places that remain static all the time (the task bar for example if you are running Windows) and after a long enough period of time being displayed will leave a permanent outline on the screen.

  • @KH1523 Wikipedia can school you on everything you need to know about burn-in.... Go to Wikipedia and search for "Screen burn-in".

  • @KH1523

thanks a lot sir so ahh, i also found out the this tv is native 16:9 right? so i wont get black bars when usin my 360

  • @KH1523 Yes it definitely is 16:9, no black bars with your 360. :) When setting up your "Game" AV mode make sure to turn off the following advanced features: "Noise Reduction" and "Edge Enhancer" as these will cause more input lag and are not needed with a true HD input source anyhow.

  • tu as eu des difficulté pour reglé la luminosité ??car moi sur mon 50pv350 j ai eu du mal is good bfbc2 my fevoris medal of honor ciao

  • thanks, just ordered mine for 800 shipped, be here monday !! i read somewhere to turn OFF the energy star feature to get a sharper image and to turn down the noise reduction feature as well. im anxious to see what COD and medal of honor look like on here compared to my sony 46 inch

  • @photoguyhudson Good choice and good price! Definitely turn off the power save feature, it's horrible, as well as the auto light sensing garbage. As far as NR goes I run it Medium for my FiOS, Off for PS3 gaming, and Low for BluRay's. Video games look godlike on this sucker. :) Don't freak out like I did when I saw my first bit of image retention, it goes away easily but I freaked a bit the first time it happened because I didn't know that it wasn't permanent.

  • Thanks for posting the video. What does the rear sticker claim the power consumption is for this plasma?

  • hey , the past 2 weeks i been doing research and this is the tv i want , one major question i cant find out is, in the menu sound options, can you turn the speakers to OFF position? cause on my last 2 tvs i use wireless headphones playing my ps3 games.

  • @photoguyhudson Yes you certainly can. I run a surround sound setup and I have the TV's speakers disabled via the Audio menu. Enjoy the TV, it's a great deal! I think you can pick it up at Costco now for $799.

  • @EarthBoundParanoia I personally wouldn't even give Vizio the time of day. Very poor customer service from the reviews I have read on their sets, and made with some of the cheapest parts on the Chinese market. There are no motion tweaks on this set as they are not needed. With a 600hz refresh rate it looks like watching TV on a CRT tube style TV, there is no motion blur at all.

  • @EarthBoundParanoia Like I said I have yet to notice any true "burn-in" at all. It does have some temporary image retention however. If you leave the set on a stationary image for 30 minutes and switch to a black picture you can see outlines but they fade in about 30 seconds. I really only use this set to game so I have a lot of stationary bits that stay on the screen and nothing has truly burned in to the set yet and I probably have 500+ hours on it already.

  • @EarthBoundParanoia No permanent image burn in yet and I game on this TV a ton. When I start to get some image retention I run the color wash for about 1-2 minutes and it's back to being perfect.

  • Thats niiiice!!

  • @jauchiu I LOVE IT! :) I actually make time in my day to watch TV, movies, and play video games now, hahaha.
