The more I listen to Freddie King the more I realize how much SRV, Clapton were influenced by him. THey took what he had and practiced it 10000x times over and perfected it. Kudos to you Freddie!
People people, none of your opinions matter, they won't change the world and they only lead to more conflict. even more so 90% of your opinions are based on your fantasy reality. Seriously just enjoy the music and stop wasting your life by debating everyone on the internet that has a different made up opinion then you do....
One of my favorites... I was lucky to hear Freddy many times in Houston in the early 70's, he played there a lot. Mostly I heard him at the old Liberty Hall. Heard Lightnin' many times there also. And, by the way, I'm a Clapton and Joe Bonnamassa fan as well. I think Joe's one of the great electric blues players today. I'm a guitar player, too. Among players, you don't worry about who's the best. It's like who's the most gorgeous woman... there are a thousand versions of gorgeous.
I'll say it again just to piss you off because it gets under your skin apparently...Joe Bonawhatteva SUCKS! Ha! Some people take this crap so seriously WTF really? Get a life!
you people shouldn't discuss weather bonamassa is a better guitar player than freddie. because he simply is. but it's performance what it's all about. i'd like to hear freddie any time any where instead of bonamassa. just as you could say joe satriani is a better guitar player than hendrix or any other. if you look at how the guitar is played. joe satriani is very skilled. no doubt! but some artists like freddie, hendrix, B.B, lightnin' or any other blues(rock) hero. they are a force of nature.
@q8gooner Oh! My God! So sorry, Mr Clapton. 3 times!!!??? Wow, he must be a genius, those who decide on the Rock n' Roll are brilliant people, so he must be a genius!
Not like Freddie King, never inducted into any fucking Hall, I'm sure he was very bad.
@keeprocknrollalive03 thats funny, cause i was jammin to another Freddie King song and a big chunk of my pick broke off while I was trying to play one of Freddie's licks XD
Freddie had this ability to bring in the gospel influences into his singing while playing absolutely killer blues licks. I miss him so much.
Freddie, Jimmy Reed, and SRV had more crossover hits than any other bluesmen in history. While all were true bluesmen, they had such broad appeal. Watching this video, you younger folks can see why Freddie was so immensely popular. As Clapton said, "Freddie King is the one guy who taught me everything I needed to know." --Gator
Trash, the only semi-impressive feat is his bellowing voice after the 3 minute mark, other then that his guitar licks lack the bluesfeel in my oppinion.
@cbowen61 Im sorry im sure i sound like a Clapton lover who fails to acknowledge other artists have talent too. In general im no hater, like i said this just lacks that old blues vibe in my oppinion, Clapton isnt the best guitar player but the way he can put his all into his lyrics and guitarlicks just does it for me, i recognise this to be classic, but in my oppinion it doesnt beat Old Love @ Hyde Park.
@dutchdude1985 Do you realize that Freddie was Eric's number one inspiration?? Eric would disagree with you 100%. Eric loves the Blues because there was a Freddie King to move him!!
Fk me this mofo kicks serious ass. Clapton who? This is raw and emotional like no other I have ever seen! This is da blues. The poor guy had no other options in his life. He was put on this earth to play real blues. RIP Freddy. You are a legend.
Freddie steps into the song, and lives it, you can feel the pain.... his vocal power is out of this world, his guitar is an extension of his soul... the youtube peanut gallery of teenage sweep picking girlfriendless jackoffs can not comprehend what is going on here.. what those imbeciles dont know is that Freddie most certainly nailed all those fine ladies at 8:02 :)
@sundiatasoulbefree Thats a load of bollocks. They're two blues legends and freddie king had a huge influence on players like clapton, peter green and rory gallagher. I think the glee comment is just bullshit. Mr. E.C. does a great version
@sundiatasoulbefree what makes you think your opinion counts for anything? Freddie is great, as is Eric and many others! Putting one down to make another better, in YOUR opinion, is childish and imature. Grow up. They are all good, in their own right!
@graylab2 My opinion counts because i have ears and when i listened to Mr Claptons version after I listened to this version that was the first thing that came to my mind, i am just being honest yea sure maybe it was a little disrespectful and abrasive looking back on it but it was a honest reaction, its not immature to have a OPINON that is different from yours and i never said Eric Clapton sucks I just prefer this version gee whiz you people are sensitive.
