  • thank you

     very helpful

  • Love the Lakland. Great sound.

  • i cant get the thump right... i just hit a note instead and i want it to mute...am i doing something wrong?

  • @Masturbassest Yeah, you'll just be pressing too hard. It's a very light touch needed with your left hand.

  • What is this an English Site?

  • @afterthefox7 Let me guess.... you're American right ?

  • sweet! I do a hammer on before your 1st step to make it 4.

  • Thanks, man. Way to break it down.

  • shut the fuck up your not famus

  • thanks m8 thats the most useful video on utube it helped so much

  • after long time of watching youtube finally found how to start with this. All videos are not even close to this one. exactly what i need. Thanks man long live and all good.

  • Great lesson man. I'm getting a 55-02 soon YEAH!!! haha

  • that small video there has helped me more then any explanation i have read or seen on youtube or the internet!! brilliant!

  • Seinfield anyone?

  • thanks for cutting the bullshit. i've been practicising this technique for a little while now, and then realise that i've been doing correctly, only after watching someone like you doing it, whereas every other tutorial procrastinates around the actual lesson.

  • We need more dudes like you on youtube 5*

  • Great video buddy. Really clear and can now start practicing it slowly and properly!

    Keep up the videos!

    Take it easy

  • thanks..this is the way of teaching.easy to understand...

  • i <3 brits

  • I´s cool... congratulations.

  • Thanks man!

  • woow dude , that's exactly for what i'm looking for =P, thanks

  • Great vid mate, love your speed and accuracy. I play a Lakland 5 string through an Ampeg SVT4pro & Classic box & would love if you could show what kind of settings & strings you use on your bass to achieve the different tones you're getting. Love the sound!

  • nice, I like the way you explain stuff

  • thumpalicious!

  • why aye man... :) nice

  • thanks muchly, that was easy to understand for a change...will check it out.

  • Very good lesson. Thanks a lot. Nice playing!

  • Thanks man. I'm finally starting to get this figured out because of your vid. Thank you for being gracious enough to show how instead of showing off.

  • Low action and light gauge strings

  • thanks alot man iv been tryin 2 find good vids 2 help me with slap bass

  • This guy is a very good teacher - well done, clear and simple for the layman!

  • THANK YOU!!! Finally someone who takes the time to explain it properly and not just showing off. 5* :)

  • when you do the left hand thump, do you already have your hand covering the high string, or is it just a matter of practice? if I take my hand completely off, i tend to play the g string

  • For the first part of the lesson the g string is muted. The second part you'll see that I start playing fretted popped notes in the same circle of triplets as before.

  • its much easier than most people think. i can also do it fairly fast like e does. once you get the hang of it you can mess around with it

  • he makes this look so easy, like he isn't doing anything. and the facial expressions are awsum!

  • Omg excellent explanation!!! I literally got it right away not up to you speed but consistently. Thanks soooo much, I have been trying to learn that forever.

  • When I tap It aways makes a note.. Is there a way to get your strings closer to your pickups or even your fretboard?? Any tips will help. I was thinking my bass isn't the best for playing slap.

  • When you say 'tap' you mean the left hand muted 'thump' across all the strings ? It's more a matter of not being too rough, if you press too hard you will get a tapped note instead of a muted one.

  • Can't really answer your question without knowing what model of bass you have.

  • @ehill1536 Yeah, just lower the bridge.

  • goooooood jobbb

  • nice! what bass is that?

  • A Lakland 44-02

  • thanks for the quote man i try to keep it simple as possible.

  • live4maiden, I dare you to go around the pubs in Sunderland on a Saturday night and ask people if they're from Newcastle!

Great vid far0n! Short, clear and to the point.

  • i would love too :L but i live in ashington

  • are you from newcastle ? xD

  • Thankfully not. I wash more than once a year, don't drink Stella in my front garden and I have a full set of teeth. :oD

  • lmao ! its just you sound like your from the north east :P

  • I am... Sunderland :O)

  • i can't make the left hand thumb sound that clicky and nice. i have quite old strings, i must admit.

  • you know your good when you study other things in the room XD

  • Lol you sound like Doctor Who! :D

  • lmao, better than a Dalek i suppose :o)

  • wats a gud slap and pop bass. along with a nice groove sound to it when i do chording? do i have to have to separate basses or can i get one that has a mixture of both? rite now i have an ibanez sr505. anyone can help me out?

  • fender p. ritter roya if u have the money. basically any bass... depends more on how you play and the amp blah blah blah. a good player can make a plywood crapheap sound like a ten grand beast.

  • I'd agree with that to a certain extent. Over the years you get an idea of what suits you. I've owned some fabulous basses that have been rubbish... Stingray... Kubicki Key Factor. Utter waste of money. My current Vigier Passion, nice 17mm string spacing.. sounds great either fingered or slapped.... I learnt to play on an old Ibanez Roadstar II which I had nicked, sorely missed :o(

  • yeah. i love my bass to death. its a yamaha rbx 260. all i need is my allan key and my rotosounds to have a beautiful sound. i find it pretty good since i paid only a couple hundred for it. and i agree. stingrays are rubbish hahaha. although i played a ritter seal the other day and that was just a pleasure to slap.

  • How would an american fender jazz work?

  • Hey, can you reverse it? I'm asking now and I know I'll try it before you answer, but hey why not put the idea out there. I'm think of using the thumb first and then the left hand and ending with a lovely pop.

  • You could yes, but you're talking about going from popping outwards to thumbing inwards in a single stroke, which makes things more awkward. The way I've shown you here.... you thumb inwards and on the way back out you pop, so it kinda flows better.

  • Thanks a lot!

  • Thanks man! That really simplifies the triplets a lot. I always wanted to do them, but they looked like he was just double plucking and then a slap. That is why I couldn't reproduce his sound. But this will help a lot! Keep jamming man!

  • cheers man your a legend 5/5

  • nice man, short and easy, well done:D

  • once again so gd

  • r u in a band coz if u rnt u should be

  • Thanks a lot mate, this was most helpful.

  • I just want to say thats its awesome that you actually explained what your doin. Im a guitarist, who dabbles in bass. Every other double thump/triplet video i have seen is just playin with no explanation. thanks for takin the time to explain what your doin. It helps alot =)

  • have you seen a youtuber named "Bassbucket" Far0n? He's quite good with this type of stuff.

  • hey man fuck you ass hole,,,,, pluck first is the ticket ,,, i got it right away,,, wow thx

  • I got that method so fast; thank you!

  • Excellent man!! i never thought of playing the pluck first!! that's a great idea!! i'm gonna try it out!!

    thanks a lot man!!

    peace

  • exelent bass lesson ,, shame u never used live ammo ..........lol

  • Awesome tutorial. 5 stars for you and thumbs up for all!

  • You are the ONLY video that I've watched and are actually learning the triplet technique. Been playing for years and never knew how to do that. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!! Make more VIDS!

  • hi faron alfie here ur real name is to me egg head!

  • thanks! toy teach very well!

  • looking at buying a lakland skyline....would you recommend this model?

    cheers.

  • As it happens, I'll be selling mine soon. If you're interested, gimme a PM. Cheers

  • will do my man ;)

  • is that a lakland skyline or a lakland usa?

  • It's a 44-02 skyline, a newer one with Lakland pickups and preamp :o)

  • you remind me of santa

  • perfectly describes lacquer head

  • wahey a geordie bass player better than sting :) lol

  • Mackem, I'll have you know ! :o)

  • Thanks man...very helpfull, you teach well, it goes straight in....

  • Good informative stuff. Nice that someone takes the trouble

  • ver y good example dude, ! sweet ,

  • thank you that helped me alot, there are so many bass techniques no one documents

  • why are conjoined twins on the related videos? thats weird.

  • ya man, that kind a weird. off topic. i think it got something to do with the word triplets. yikes!

  • ok?

  • thanks for the lesson

  • nice one,it does exactly what it says on the tin.

  • Do you have a Lakland Skyline? Great video although!

  • hi i just wanted to thank you for the vidoes you made, theyve been really helpful in helping me how to learn these harder techniques :D

  • Somebody get this man a trophy

  • thank you

    still tricky for me

  • Thanks man! it is so helpful.

  • it´s probably the most helpful vid to clear up the miracle of what makes slapping so exciting. thanx a lot and please keep going!!! with more slap bass lessons!!!

  • Sounds like you should post a video of Lacquer Head by Primus ;)

  • Shame the expensive bass learning DVDs couldn't explain it as simply as you do. Good work mate. Cheers

  • That's what instructional bass videos do. You pay ridiculous prices for a 30-minute DVD that only gives about 2 minutes of useful information. Now if you buy 10 DVD's then you'll get about 20 minutes of useful info. I just got about 50 pounds worth right here in just 1:40. Great post FarOn.

  • omg, EXACTLY what i was thinking

  • hi there,

that was really helpfull to play triplets on bass!

thanks a lot and alltime the best
