I got to wrestle 6 min with Cael Sanderson at a camp last summer. He's the master of motion. He doesn't use or rely on his strength as much as most wrestlers would. He'll simply beat you from shear speed and technique. Which is why I don't think his age of 32 is going to ruin his chances for an olympic bout in 2012 at all. I'm looking forward to seeing him wrestle at a new peak in September.
Trenge got majored 12-4. The closest final he had was against Dan Cormier. I think the score was 8-5 or something like that. Cormier also scored a takedown in that match.

Really PA dosn't have the best wrestling. More then a 1/4 of the NCAA all americans are from PA. And yes competing against Iowa. Iowa's university which have done a fantastic job by luring kids from other states to wrestle at Iowa universities. I think last year out of 80 D1 All Americans 24 were from PA. There reason there is a tournament called the dapper dans which is PA vs the rest of the country. Other then Dan Gable name some absolute mag. wrestlers form Iowa. rem. Sanderson is from Utah.

PA has good wrestling but it is nothing compared to Iowa and the rest of the midwest. Cael will draw from the entire east coast, not just PA. So in a couple of years it will pretty much be the entire east coast vs. Iowa and we will still crush you.

And look at the latest H.S. rankings on AWN 24 PA kids in the top ten. 6 from Iowa and wrestler of the year Jake Herbert, another PA boy.
When he grabs an ankle, his hands seem like a bear claw coated with super glue. I bet he'd do well in the UFC, if he had the desire to try it, as Brock Lesnar did.
sanderson and gable are both amazing wrestlers...the argument shouldnt be whose better because they both brought so much to the sport..gable was my inspiration just as much as cael was...they're both incredible technicians and they both trained extensively to be where they are...
all i have to say is........natural talent some people are just born with it as hard as you work you will never be as talented as the naturally gifted
that is definatly not true, ill give you an example, if a naturally talented wrestler went to practise every day and sat there and the less gifted hardworker went to practise and trained 110% every practise the non gifted person would eventually surpass the naturally talented and beat him hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard, cael sanderson worked his ass off every practise and enjoyed doing it, and if that just being talented was the case no one would practise

Rulon Gardner is a beast too though, he wasn't that good until he got to college...and he ended up beating a 13 year straight undefeated Soviet Union reigning World Champ to win the world title...then after having recovered from an injury in a ski accident or something he comes back and places 3rd in the Worlds injured...now saying who's the all time best?! Who knows! I mean seriously, they're all great and all worth learning from! Anything is possible...Btw, Gable is the man too!

PA has the best high school wrestlers bar none... if thats what you are refering too... Oklahoma State i would have to say is the most historically dominant college team ever... arizona i wouldnt doubt is coming up but both arizona and iowa have some catching up to do to be even mentioned with PA (high school) or OSU (college).
disagree totally ohio has always been known as the best wrestling state in the nation i mean st. edwards, st. paris graham ( an ohio division 2 team that was the national champs this year), walsh, cin. moeller and a ton others a way better than Pennslyvania.
i will give you that blaire is better than every school but as a whole PA is the best they lead in the amount of wrestlers who make the ncaa tourney.... J. robinson who won atleast two ncaa championships is who first told me this... i would love my home state to be the best too but its just not not pa is the best
freestyle is dying out? its only the most popular style of wrestling in the entire world haha... even in the US the are about 50 people in a single weight class in some of these freestyle national tournaments. Folkstyle as far tv ratings may do better but i would say that its still not much better than freestyle olympic ratings

i wanna say cael. i met gable so i like the guy but i think competition slowly gets better and better with new supplements, training gets better, kind of like every other sport. the guys are getting better and better. but it's still tough to say.
i would have to go with cael better competition and more total wins even if dan beat owings. also more national titles. and a more dominant junior and senior year. cael had no offensive points scored on him his junior and senior year
What more can be said about CS, the greatest wrestler of this generation and maybe all time. Shame he doesn't have any interest in MMA because he would be a monster at 185. If he was to transition though, he'd have to learn a whole new skill set and that takes years. I'd say with 3 years of concentrated training on MMA, he'd be a star on the rise and possibly one day a UFC champion.

i dont know if we are judging who is best on soley collegiate accolades. but as far as international goes, zeke jones and john smith are the only two american wrestlers to get recognized as the most technical wrestler in the world games.

We should not forget about Dan Hodge--the FIRST undefeated NCAA wrestler; Dan won 3 of 3 titles.
Like Dan Gable, Hodge was not allowed to wrestle varsity as a freshman.

You might want to get your facts straight dude. Gable wrestled his freshman year and won a national title. Gables only loss was his senior year in the finals of the national title. 3 titles and on runner up four years.

The NCAA wrestlers today (as in every sport) is hands down better athletes than past years. Anyone who says Gable was better than Sanderson, or Butkus was better than Urlacher, etc...are FULL OF CRAP! Todays athletes are superior in everyway, and tomorrows will even be better! PERIOD!

cael did get defeated in college as a redshirt freshman but since he wrestled unattached it doesn't count, so technically he did LOSE a match in college.

cael is the greatest collegiate wrestler of all time. he was a 4 timer in comparison to dan gable's 2. he also is one of three wrestlers to recieve the dan hodge award more than once and he won it 4 times. i think people confuse dan's coaching legend with his wrestling legend
