UPDATE: Sadly, this Christmas eve, we lost Gizmo's beloved friend, Otto, my siamese. He was just shy of 18 years old, and passed away peacfully at home. I guess it's the end of an era- these were my babies before I had babies! I will always love and miss them. (sad). However, we are being kept company by our new adoptee, Joe the orange tabby, who needed a home when his owner lost hers.He knew otto and was his friend. He's keeping our laps warm. Sigh, It's so hard to lose.
My cat has gone 1year ago..my mother used to hated him, but sometimes I am watching her cry..lately i was too busy and I didn't have time to play with him.my parents used to lock him in a room because he used to pee anywhere..I was fighting with my parents everyday.my father opened the door and my cat went out and came back later.This happened for 1month. one day I came back from school and i found the door close. all his stuff where gone. my cat never came back.. I know they hide somethink. :(
just the first few seconds brought tears to my eyes, i would be crying so hard if i had to put my cat to sleep. he is only 6 months old and i hope hes with me for a long time i know its gonna be hard to let him go one day hopefully not anytime soon

My brother's baby bunny twitched when she died. I also had a baby bunny. They didn't have enough nutrition cause their real owner's grandpa killed the mom. I loved Billy. :( I started crying just now..
I know from several experiences like this that this is the most difficult and yet the kindest decision you can make. I am sorry this had to happen but thank you for ending the suffering.
:( i feel your pain my cat who was only 8 years old had to be put down when i was 8 he was there every since i was alive i couldnt imagine life without him there it wasnt good but now i have a kitty 1 year old and i plan to keep him healthy to live a long life but ill always remember cody .....
It is always hard putting a pet you love down but we have to remember that it is about what isbest for the animal. I commend you for doing the best thing for your cat.
If you do get a new cat I would encourage you to look at your local shelter. It is always nice to be able to give an animal a second chance. =)

My 17 year old cat had been with me almost every day of my life. She had protected me, made everyone smile, only ever asking. Last year she passed away, 6 months later her kitty husband passed away. After her death the house became quiet, and the only crys were ones of sadness from her husband. He died of oldage, and finally getting to see her again. I took it the hardest in my family.
My heart goes out to you. I have been where you are a few times with my cats. Just seems that you KNOW when the time comes to do it. But I know it's NOT EASY! MY GOD IT IS NOT EASY. @ReginaChick he was never overwieght, just HUGE. and his diet was fine. Also, he became very ill very suddenly. And hey, don't judge me because I didn't want a once vibrant animal to spend his last days in a basket, being injected and force fed, unable to use a litter box, just to keep him alive longer. I care very deeply for my pets, and if he had a chance at recovery, that would have been different. You're making judgments without any information.

@Calpico852 the only alternitive was to give him daliy injections, let him lie in a basket and somehow try to make him eat. MAYBE over time he could have some sort of recovery. But he was so old, and so vibrant beforehand; I decided not to drag on his misery, he wasn't able to just be a cat, lie in the sun, or even walk. So because he was always my friend, I tried to be his, and let him pass in peace, at 17 years old. Not a bad run.
I had to put my snake down one day...I know this is extremely different but oh it was terrible this snake was SUPER nice it even lounged on my dogs back and did NOTHING to it, it would lay on my hand all the time every day. She would bobbing her head to the top of the cage when she would say, Come on its time to hold me! Sad she had a rectum problem..The doctors couldnt do anything about it...We had to put her to sleep..RIP my little lilly...

My cat died at 13 because she had a tumor... we took over to the vet and they said she would die within the night... so we stayed up giving her the best day of her life... we gave her fresh fish that she loved... we took her for a car ride which she also enjoyed at 2:00 AM she stopped breathing and died... we were petting her as she went to heaven.

@TheEpiph0neBassist If I didn't put him down he would have wasted away slowly, not able to walk, use the litter box or eat. A very cruel painful and slow death. I made this painful decision out of love and respect for his life. And if I were 95 years old, non funcioning and in a hospital bed, I'd hope my family wouldn't keep me that way either. Still, it was a VERY painful decision.

I had to put my snake down one day...I know this is extremely different but oh it was terrible this snake was SUPER nice it even lounged on my dogs back and did NOTHING to it, it would lay on my hand all the time every day. She would bobbing her head to the top of the cage when she would say, Come on its time to hold me! Sad she had a rectum problem..The doctors couldnt do anything about it...We had to put her to sleep..RIP my little lilly...

i feel your pain too i miss my white fluffy cat Nemo who died 13 months ago I'm still crying about it i wish he could just stay the same age (7) then i would never have to miss him but i have 2 more cats in the house after they die (if they do) my mom won't let me buy another cat cause they are expensive so once they die all i will have are the memory's WHY MUST THE GOOD DIE OLD!!

@tacluvstoons she looked just like your cat was given to me by grandmother who passed afterwards and was a kind loveing reminder of her watched my kitty grow and play with my neice and nephew just lost track of all the time and miss how she was at the door 9 out of 10 times when i came in and family would tell me how she knew b4 i even made it to the door how she would stop what she was doing to run to door to greet me.

thats the best my cat was on her last day i wrapped her up in a warm towel and laid her in her bed.... she died nice and peacefully..she was 19 and had a great life

My cat died at 13 because she had a tumor... we took over to the vet and they said she would die within the night... so we stayed up giving her the best day of her life... we gave her fresh fish that she loved... we took her for a car ride which she also enjoyed at 2:00 AM she stopped breathing and died... we were petting her as she went to heaven.

@TheEpiph0neBassist If I didn't put him down he would have wasted away slowly, not able to walk, use the litter box or eat. A very cruel painful and slow death. I made this painful decision out of love and respect for his life. And if I were 95 years old, non funcioning and in a hospital bed, I'd hope my family wouldn't keep me that way either. Still, it was a VERY painful decision.
