Scorpions - Blackout (Moscow 1989)

I ordered this and watched the entire concert live on tv (back when MTV actually played...music videos.) I think the Scorps stole the show, but Ozzie and a very young , energetic, Zakk Wylde, were an extemely close second. I like Bon Jovi, but their show was weak.

I was there, it was crazy!!! The very first time hard rock concert was held in Moscow. 2 days 70.000 people each day. Good old times

All I read about this festival the Scorpions have rocked the Stadium to the ground. A lot of people were going after the Scorps gig.

Bon Jovie hedlined cause they was the first Band McGee signed.

John Bon Jovie once said that he never ever will play after the Scorpions anymore.

@roughraphsen I read that Motley Crue complained about Bon Jovi headlining, and how some of the bands that were at this concert were either drunk, stoned or high, and Motley Crue were trying to stay sober on this tour and show here.

@roughraphsen I was there in 1989. The Scorpions definately should have been the headliner! Ozzy, Motly Crew, and Bon Jovie are great bands but those russian kids definately loved the Scorpions. The Scorpions were king that day MTV was filming.

Since almost all Bands here had the same Manager(Doc McGee) he put Bon Jovi as headliners

It is interesting to hear the Scorpions without their effects and echo. I heard that during the time that Russia was still the USSR that there were only a couple soud systems good enough for major rock bands, and none of them had any good vocal effects (harmonizers, etc.). It is interesting to hear the bands that played in the old USSR. Thanks for posting this.

Bon Jovi headlined, Scorpions played right before. I was there!

Personally, SCORPS blew Bon Jovi away, bad!

Come to think of it, they blew everyone away, as usual.

Skid Row and Motley, surprisingly, were kind of lame...MOTLEY should never play in the day...they're totally a night band....

Also, BJ was the only band with pyro, which pissed Motley off...

I've heard that in Nikki Sixx's bass, there's a sticker which says "kill Bon Jovi". Which side does Doc McGhee favors? ur right, Motley is a night band, their make-ups cannot be emphasized on daytime. the smashing of their equipments at the end of their set says it all, they want the limelight, they're like Shawn Marion of the Phoenix Suns. Nash is Bon Jovi while Amare is Scorpions.

coooooool, they really did rule the 80's for hard rock shows, I saw Bon Jovi, AC/DC, Maiden, MSG, Rainbow, UFO, Def Leppard..all of the big metal names in the 80's but always enjoyed the scorpions gigs the most..

I liked 80's metal the best pre-"hair band" era...such as the following gigs:

-Stranger, Aldo Nova, UFO (82)

-Blackfoot and Ted Nugent (81)

-Girlschool, Iron Maiden, Scorpions (82)

-Starfighters and Ozzy (Randy Rhoades)(can't remember the year, it was the DOAMM) tour...
