If this disturbs you, there are other videos that pair "memento mori" death images with traditional funeral hymns & you'll find these even more offensive since the Church doesn't use these images at all. I made this point & got tutored on how these images were used in churches across Europe, but I made the point, NOT in the Orthodox Church.

Orthodox is truth, it has kept the scriptures exactly the same since the Resurrection of Christ our savior. I was catholic, i am English.. converted and been happier then ever.
@lethal337 :) interesting i was Orthodox and became Roman Catholic exactly because after a lot of research as a Historian and Archaeologist came to understand that the Roman Mass has preserved the most of ancient christian traditions, also i find the Latin chants far more appealing to me. But the immense beauty and spirituality of both Roman and Byzantine Christianity cannot be doubted.

@stevennewnan I am no expert, but it seems to me that this is Orthodox iconography, or maybe both.. It is a beautiful iconography that I think suits the hymn very well.
@stevennewnan Being born into the protestant church, I do not have the knowledge to know the two iconographies apart.. I saw the greek letters and assumed it was Orthodox.. I do not belong to any religion now, but my heart belongs to Jesus and I love this hymn praising him..
@novocain13 I think you mean, you don't belong to a denomination, not religon. Regardless if your Catholic, Orthodox or Protestant they're all Christians. To be a Christian, is acknowledging Jesus as the Song of god, who died for our sins and resurrected on the 3rd day according to the scriptures which is basically the fundamentals for all Christianity types.
I attend the Glendi at my church every year, and I have to sing this song. I absolutely love my religion, I just wish I practiced it more when I was little so that I can be fluent in Greek. What a shame....

When the Great Schism occurred Catholics branched off & became the western church & the Eastern Orthodox church stayed as it was--Eastern Orthodox, nothing to do with the Pope. I am an EASTERN ORTHODOX Christian, meaning a member of the TRUE church.

Orthodox is truth, it has kept the scriptures exactly the same since the Resurrection of Christ our savior. I was catholic, i am English.. converted and been happier then ever.

@lethal337 :) interesting i was Orthodox and became Roman Catholic exactly because after a lot of research as a Historian and Archaeologist came to understand that the Roman Mass has preserved the most of ancient christian traditions, also i find the Latin chants far more appealing to me. But the immense beauty and spirituality of both Roman and Byzantine Christianity cannot be doubted.

@novocain13 I think you mean, you don't belong to a denomination, not religon. Regardless if your Catholic, Orthodox or Protestant they're all Christians. To be a Christian, is acknowledging Jesus as the Song of god, who died for our sins and resurrected on the 3rd day according to the scriptures which is basically the fundamentals for all Christianity types.
