  • i'm currently reading the book and everytime I finish a chapter i get really sad...

  • do you know the title of the soundtrack?

  • Comment removed

  • just... why the hell are they using Fatboy Slim at the end there?! it totally runs the mood from the Air stuff and... it's not relevant time-wise or in any way. I'll never understand the mind of trailer-makers.

  • do you recomend this moovie?

  • @fuck40023195 HELL YEAH!! its fucking amazing!

  • "Obviously, doctor, you've never been a thirteen year old girl."

  • Watched this for the first time today and it changed my life! Ohmygosh this movie is perfection.

  • amazing book. i named my cat Luxe.

  • de mais

  • I just watched this and I was in the film, I felt with it. This movie is amazing !

  • i like this movie so much

  • i lmfao when dany divito showed

  • sorry boys shes taken by spiderman himself

  • Why?Why does everyone love this sooo much???Please explain because I thought these girls were incredibly selfish and cruel. They had no reason to ruin the lives of those innocent guys. I dont usually like to post negatively because I respect others' opinions but I just hate this movie with a sick passion...

  • THIS MOVIE IS THE BEST

  • Masterpiece

  • Interesting movie.

  • The soundtrack for this film is perfection

  • anyone knows the song that play @1:08 ?? please help me :) thanks !

  • @bob35430 Pretty sure its 'right here, right now' by Fatboy Slim....hope thats right! :)

  • @Fest1valHead that is completely wrong

  • @sweeneyyful Then reply to the person who asked, with the right name of the song. I'm not the one that needs to know....

  • I own the movie on DVD and I don't remember the scene at 1:40. I was looking forward to that scene. Maybe I need to watch it again.

  • woah i had no idea this had been turned into a film! i love the book, i need to watch this.

  • I Just Saw tht movie those bitches made the boys think tht they were all gonna chill and "have fun" instead they walked on a hanging pill overdose, stciking head in the oven, and something else wow crazyy i would been scared for life xP

  • Can someone tell me the plot line?

  • Ooh, a piece of candy.

  • @SargeTheFourth Duuuuude.. that's cold... but still funny... ^_^

  • i dont get it... LMAO :D

  • Does the song slightly remind you of ''Memories''?

  • @theheadlessb that's because Memories samples this song (Right Here Right Now by Fatboy Slim)

  • @iljbmate whats the song at 1:08 ? :) thanks !

  • I don't know why I like this movie but I do.

  • @BlackTeddies I hate it! I couldn't read the book for my college class so I came here to watch the movie instead. The book feels like it was written by some kind of psychopath! I'm more into optimistic, happily-ever-after, all-well-ends-well movies and books. Watching scary movies and reading book written by psychopaths is not something I enjoy!

  • @23parkour23 so I guess there ARE people who love those movies I hate!

  • @floatinroundmytincan Haha, vice versa. I love what you hate, and hate what you love.

Anyways, by saying I love "happily-ever-after," and "all-well-ends-well" movies and books doesn't necessarily mean, "Cinderella" and "Snow White," movies. I meant movies like "Click," "The Pursuit of Happyness," "The Bucket List," "The Ultimate Gift," etc.

    Btw, loved your comment!

  • @23parkour23 This movie is just a pretty movie about teenagers, what you feel when you discover the real world, when you understand that you're parents are not gods. It's about rebellion, education, love, sexuality, errors, poesy. These parents doesn't let their daughters make mistakes, they're to scared about the real life. It's a kind of religion and education's critic. Sorry for my english.

  • @cokaaa8689 No problem, your English was almost perfect. All you need to change is "you're" to "your," "doesn't" to "don't," and "poesy" to "pussy."

Haha, I'm kidding about the pussy part. :) I agree with you, but I'm not the type of person who prefers watching these type of movies cause reality sucks lol

Life is something we take and just add meaning to it. I'd rather add something positive, something beautiful, something that makes me feel happy -- even if it means living in my own world. :)

  • @23parkour23 Yeah, I understand what you mean, but for my part, i thought that it was a kind of positive movie, in his way... Even if it's sad, the vision of the world through the eyes of these girls is beautifull. But, all tastes are in the nature, as we says in France. We can feel uncomfortable with this movie.

  • @cokaaa8689 Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. :)

  • @23parkour23 Yeah, that's true, well said

  • this is actually a good movie. makes you wonder..

  • What's not to like here?(!) A very good trailer for a very good film.

  • Literally the best trailer ever!!! (In my opinion)

  • Do you have any idea what is this song that starts at about 1:20??

  • Why did she commit suicide?

  • A.J.COOK <3

  • whats the music for the trailer?

  • I just watched this, and have to say that I wasn't impressed. It was very...Dry, and had a very thin plot. But that's just my opinion.

  • second song "right here right now" by fatboyslim amazing song !

  • this was sad...but emptying too...because they never really explained why they were so unhappy =/

  • @mshottie128 Yeah, I agree. I watched it on Plane ride and thought the reason it was so unsatisfying was because they edited bits out, but I think that's just the storyline. and I don't really understand the boys' role in the film. kinda confusing

  • @cartergirl3of3 i know right

  • @cartergirl3of3 Read the book.

  • i regret buying this.. it was so depressing

  • i got say, i never liked this movie or lost in translation, becuase i reckoned they were trying to hard top be artsy and aloof, these qualities are valid, but to me they come as rather contrived in this

  • Ahhhh...... yes, FATBOY SLIM!!!! Thanx, been looking for that song for a long time.

  • Can someone please PLEASE tell me what song is playing during the last half of the trailer??? Everyone keeps saying its AIR but I have only found an AIR song for the first half of the trailer. What is playing during the second half????????????

  • Comment removed

  • Oh my god this movie was filmed in Toronto at my school and at the grave yard across the street from where I live !

  • This reminds me of the Bronte siblings. They were isolated, too--kept apart from the world by their dad. And there were consequences to that isolation.

  • what's song in 1:08?

  • @pazipro right here right now - fatboy slim

  • @pazipro Right here right now by Fatboy slim

  • is this that movie where all those girls kill themselves, because i have been lookin for this movie 4 a while now i remember watching it bak in the day but i wanna see it again?

  • soundtrack couldnt fit better, perfect!!!!

  • Sophia Coppola took such a beautiful book and turned it into an equally emotional and mesmerizing film

  • the movie sucks! i've read the book, which is great, but i was very disappointed after watching the film!

  • the trailer didn't show me anything to make me watch it, i even got bored, can somebody tell me why is this movie so great?

  • @LaikaAlthea If you don't think this trailer's great, then you should not see the movie. Enough said.

  • The best trailer ever...

  • should i read the book before i watch this movie??

  • @TheFaith318 See the movie first. Because then, when you read you'll have the narrator's voice inside your head. That's what I did (:

  • Helllllla depressing movie

  • oh my god, this looks amazing. :'D

  • ...they were still at the top of the hill, young, beautiful, mysterious, in-between a woman and a girl...and they were choosing to get off the bike before the hill started to decline. First one sister, then the rest follow, like kids leaping off a bridge.

  • @leadmyskeptic finally, someone that gets it!

  • but the film and book heavily seem to suggest that their suicides are more of a conscious, clear-headed choice to not enter into the compromises and dulling down of a person's soul that is entering into adulthood. Lux in particular was burned-out by sex, her at least initial idea of "love", and anything in that vein by 14. It's almost more of a metaphor or a symbolic gesture: The "Virgin" suicides...

  • This is a delayed response, but I just wanted to say, with everyone debating why the girls killed themselves or didn't and if it was 'reasonably fucked up' enough for suicide to be perhaps justified..

All the specific factors of their lives (pre Cecilia's suicide) their strict upbringing, caring but emotionally distant parents etc. contribute to their disconnect from the world (can't fit this all in one post...)

  • This movie introduced me to Air and Josh Hartnett...I will always love it for that reason...and its damn good too!

  • @alexmedia59 i asked around, apparently it's "The Word 'Hurricane'" by Air. so this trailer has 3 music.

  • 1:40

You're not even old enough to know how bad life gets.

Obviously doctor, you've never been a thirteen year old girl.

  • @Gaddkraelarn "Don`t critizise what you can`t understand" -Bob Dylan :-D

  • @flescum True true

  • I know a girl who life is just like theirs. they say she's very beautiful, everyone thinks her life is perfect but they are on the outside looking in. That girl is me.

  • @christinaaat and me.

  • @christinaaat I think i just choked on some cheese,,,,

  • can anyone tell me what's the title of the music on 0:30?

  • Comment removed

  • ooo josh hartnett is fiiiiine <3

  • I created an EPIC video tribute to one of my fav films "Artificial Intelligence" by steve spielberg. Its a long video, but I spent some hours on it and please check it out, its worth watching I promise.

(Have other awesome tributes on my pages, and soon to be dubstep music videos as well xD)

  • so they all kill themselves? why?

  • @madamfiction haha watch the movie!

  • What's the song at the end of the trailer?

  • what does the mother say to Lux after 0:33 ?

  • @sharkattack119 Lux, please, put your shirt on this instant.

  • i want to watch this movie & read this book soo badly. :(

  • mmmmh Mary Jane

  • If you read the book, you'll find that virgin suicide has two meanings: First, the 'virgin suicide' was a reference a rock song made to the first sexual act - in essence 'killing your virginity.' However, the sisters actually all DID in fact commit suicide, and most of them were virgins - in essence also young. There is continual reference to purity and religious metaphors throughout - it's not as apparent in the movie because it is a movie of few words....Hope that helps.

  • Well virgin could mean young, and innocent, it doesn't have to be about sex. Lux wasn't physically a virgin, but she was still very young. It's kind of difficult to explain but that's the best I could do....

    :)

  • I never understood this movie. It's called the virgin suicide but Kirsten Dunst character is not a virgin. Her sister were so shouldn't it be called the virgins suicide? I don't know I'm confused.

  • I am so jealous of Kirsten Dunst!! At this movie she is so beautiful -especially her eyes! and all the scenario with Josh Hartnett is so perfect! I wish my life was like hers in the movie!!!

  • @marizza107 You wish your life was like her life in the movie....-_- did you actually watch what happend to her in the movie -___________-

  • @Pekeno201 Well, i mean that in the movie Lux seems to be perfect. She is very beautiful and an amazing boy is in love with her...Paradise!! But you are a boy or a girl? Just curious...i cant understand your username...

  • @marizza107 I'm a man. I understand what you mean, yeah, I'm sure her life seems perfect on the surface. I understand what you meant

  • @marizza107 you wish your life was like someone suidicidal because they're pretty & a cute boy liked them ? out of alll movies ! lol

  • read the book to understand better why they killed themselves.

  • Too many trailers now a days completely give the story away. But this one left me pleasantly intrigued :)

  • there' s something wrong in this movie, the pavlovian chill'out music, the coded-in "pure indie " scenes & plot ,also ridiculous a hot actress kathleen turner playing a repressive mother-why Sophia don't show the healthy of good relations between girls and boys and and safe sex instead of those gloomy depressive boring dire situations?

  • @patsematary

    Grow up. It's a MOVIE.

Anti-depressants will do a body and mind more harm than this film.

  • @missjamespage hold your horses,Ms.Calamity Jane, once upon a time there was some *real* director like Bob Rafelson ("five easy pieces","the postman always..") and Hal Ashby ("coming home") , definitely not "childish themes",and I grew up building my own concept of what is "a movie .I know, lot of people grew up watching colourful & tearful Toei anime....:)

  • @patsematary It was a book made into a movie.

  • what songs are played in this trailer?

  • @Glycerinification air-playground love and fatboy slim- right here, right now. (:

  • JAMES WOODS

  • @NicoleDionne

and im telling you over and over again you stupid bitch that a summary of such a serious topic does no justice to any teens watching it, besides make them believe Oh hey, if things arent going how you wish, just blow yourself off! and hardley any point did these girls act depressed to nearly any extent of what theyre emotions were probably suppose to express in the story.

so why dont you shut the fuck up and im sure the book was great! but a short summary ruins its point.

  • @wetdream09 As a teen watching it, you are wrong. I found it insightful, if anything. You said "One goes so we all have too?" How is that bad? That really happens, sadly, in real life. I found the characters flawed and pitiable...not glamorous at all."Oh hey, if things arent going how you wish, just blow yourself off! and hardley any point did these girls act depressed to nearly any extent of what theyre emotions were probably suppose to express in the story" No...just no. They act out. cont*

  • @wetdream09 They are repressed. No, perhaps they don't cry. They don't outrightly declare their depression but I FELT their depression. I have been depressed and I didn't cry. The movie never said that what the girls did was right. "you stupid bitch" Really...REALLY? Why do you feel it's necessary to call someone on the internet you have never met a rude name. Resorting to name-calling is low and makes your argument lower as well. Play nice.

  • @NicoleDionne

I am discussing the story of the movie because that is the topic!! Not the Book, if i were to complain about the novel id be on amazon leaving a review. Im criticizing the movie on how ludicrous the entire suicides were! One goes so we all have too? Teenage suicides are very real and its appalling this film will attempt to glamorize it with its stunning scenery and visuals. It has a Responsibility and if you cant understand that then i feel sorry for those with no hope!!

  • @wetdream09 The story IS the book, not the movie. The movie is a summary of it, is like judging a trailer for the movie. It does not glamourize suicide. People have told that they gave up trying suicide after watching/reading this story. Honestly I cannot see glamour in it. The story is plain sincere about what happens to people when they are really depressed without help but it makes people think that, instead of dying, they deserved to live, face the difficulties and survive.

  • You can never know what's going on inside someone's mind. You can't just count their problems and balance that with how pretty and popular they are to know whether they are happy.

  • does anyone know the title of the first song on the video?? HEEELP

  • @chillypizza I think that you are looking for AIR - Playground love?

  • @milkwithcake

thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you :)

  • what's the name of the song that begins at 1:31?

  • @johannaniclasen Right Here Right Now by Fatboy Slim :)

  • I have depression and I don't find this insulting either. Imagine being so isolated and not being able to contact anyone.. that would mess with anyone's head. This is disturbing, this movie. It messed with my head.

  • @xoCarolineBabexo you depressed? Have you gotten help?

  • Does anybody know the name of the title font? It's so beautiful..

    LOVE this trailer <3

  • can someone tell what is the second song of the trailer (the one after playground love)?

  • @La1994La Do you mean Right Here Right Now by Fatboy Slim?

  • @MahiroWyster exactly, thanks!

  • @Nekologic

Yeah and it was AFTER the prom, so basically it was SUMMER, so there was NO more school and therefor what they were going through was called GROUNDING.

its total B.S. to me- the picture glamorizes suicide which is why i have issues with it.

  • @wetdream09 You cannot judge the story for the movie only, because it's a small part of the story. The novel makes explicit that they were locked at home for months! One year had passed after Cecilia's suicide when they decided to do the same. It's a lot of time to be locked! Also, it was not only this, the whole family got depressed with Cecilia's suicide. The description is terrifying in the novel. Also, to lose a sister by suicide and not having any help to overcome this is really hard.

  • God, Kirsten Dunst looks just like Laura Palmer.

  • Could a more perfect trailer exist?

  • @UserPickForSix

    I don't think so ;p

  • Lmao! Oh ok. It was an honest mistake. Thanks

  • Amazing Book.

  • Ew at 3:02 he was smelling a tampon.

  • @KillahIceKelsey He was smelling a lipstick tube...

  • @KillahIceKelsey, he is smelling lipstick, not a tampon :)

  • The song being played in the end is Right Here Right Now by FatboySlim

  • They never tell you how their lives were before the movie started. They never show you everything they have gone through. Cecilia killed herself, and she was 13. You must wonder why she was so depressed. What was so wrong? She never says why. The last 4 remaining girls don't either. You think it's because they're trapped in their home... But if you really stop to think about it, it must have been something more.

  • People need to read the book. It doesn't explain why the girls committed suicide but it's a very good read. I don't find the suicides insulting, and I have severe depression and have attempted suicide before. I don't think people should be judging them like that, saying that they "didn't have it that bad" or whatever. You have no idea what's going on in their heads. I understand that they're fictional characters, but there are people like them.

  • wats the song being played in the end called?

  • @JJenvy i believe its part of almost all the songs in the sound track

  • what a perfect movie

do not die before you see this masterpiece

  • @sinus2alfa "do not die before you see this masterpiece' lol well said.. well said..

  • Comment removed

  • Did the girls kill themselves because they were grounded? Okay and they had to burn they're entertainment pretty sad. But they had each other couldn't they have been supportive or bright enough to move out rather then the other extreme?

I actually found they're deaths more insulting then sympathetic, perhaps if this movie were 3 hours long to show the audience the extent of they're depression it could have done a justice. (suicide never has 1, less with these girls!)

  • @wetdream09 i think thats what the director wanted, for you to wonder why they killed themselves instead of running away, for you to put yourself in their situation and see their predicament the way they saw it instead of how you see it.

  • @wetdream09 no they killed themeselves BECAUSE THEIR PARENTS LOCKED THEM INSIDE THEIR HOUSE AND WOULDNT EVEN LET THEM GO TO SCHOOL. Have you ever watch the movie? they were too young to move out.

  • I don't get it why did the four girls kill themsevles. I can understand if you are depressed and anti social but these girls were none of that these girls were popular and pretty they had no problems at all. In my opinion these girls are selfish there ismore people in the world with more problems

  • @sodakandy They were popular and with no problems? Seriously, did you really watch the movie? They indeed had problems, they were locked inside the house with no contact with the outside world for months! The novel says they were admired for their beauty, but they didn't have any real friends (do you see any in the movie?) So yes, I can say that they had reasons enough to do so. I'm not saying it's right but that they had reasons. Psychological suffering is "a lot of problems".

  • i like how some people were saying they had a mild problem. it was a huge problem their parents were being too strict and not letting them have a social life. If i had to live in their house for 18 years i think i might have killed myself like the youngest daughter at 13. when you dont have the freedom to live your life whats the point in living. Their parents pretty much wasted their entire childhood. if thats not enough to take your life i dont know what is.

  • @Swedishlachick so true, it wasn't living like, it was existing

  • @Swedishlachick Ok so maybe they did had a reason of killing themselves but to me it was a mild reason. Most people who think suicidle thoughts feel like they are not excepted but these girls were excepted in society and by parents maybe not the youngest one. and most people I know with strict parent don't come to think about killing themselve.

  • A.J. Cook was the only hott one

  • does anyone know where i can freakin find the full movie where youtube hasnt deleted it. ?

  • whats the song at around 0:45 ?
