There is something really wrong here. Millions of women in the Western world are suddenly not able to eat stuff that our ancestors only 50 years ago seemed to have no problem at all with. It doesn't make sense. The human body was designed to be able to get fat and still function. In fact, fat women should be MORE fertile. No woman I've heard of has yet been able to cure her pcos permanently so as to be able to eat normally & still be well. So the cause still remains hidden.
Ladies - I know there hasn't been comments on here for months -- but I would like to share something. I have PCOS and have been struggling with it for many years. The best thing I have found so far is the support groups. Type in PCOS on Facebook, Twitter, Google, etc etc. The women on these social networking sites are AMAZING and there is so much encouragement for everyone and a lot of success stories and sharing tips and helpful ideas! Good luck, it isn't easy but it's worth it!~
i am fat hairy with thick black hairs on my face, no motivation to diet or excercise. I take metformin and tabs for high BP. I have the cream vaniqua which does not help but one positive is that i take provera for the first 12 days of the month. this helps with regular light periods
i hate having this disease i feel like the bearded fat lady of a circus and i think people will always look at me as such too. how do i deal with self loathing and ignorant people who make fun of me and cause me to self loath. i am getting lapband surgery for the weight ,plastics for the skin and eventually laser for the hair problem am i going in the right direction or should i get the gastric bypass?i am afraid of the bypass cause of the high rate of death with it
@Lubbcookie that is THE best thing a woman with PCOS can do for herself and this condition... loss weight. It is a slow and steady wins the race kinda battle since losing weight with PCOS is slow and challenging.
@gadgetfreak197444 I have PCOS also, but I do not gain weight because of gene makeup and such. I have had the symptoms since I was 11 yrs old and am now 17. I have excessive hair and I feel liek a bearded lady also. Youtube 'SUGARING' it is a way of removing hair. It is a cheap natural alternative and you can do it at home! Which is a plus. They tell you how to make it. Please inform me on how it goes.
The strange thing about the doctor saying my daughter has this is she does not have excess hair growth? I wonder if we should get a second opion? The only symptome she really has is really just maybe a day for her periods or missed a period.
@Lubbcookie There is a naturopathic approaches for PCOS, it is sometimes posted on eighter the on the 4chango channel or Hevnawe Channel in thecomment section.
my 19 year old daughter's doctor said she has it because the male hormone is just a little bit higher than what it should be, but I don't understand how she got it, I don't have it or my mother does'nt have it I thought it was hereditiry?
@prettyface777 it can be hereditary but, it can also be random. I was the first in my family to have it. I have an aunt that has Endo and we believe my younger sister has it. Diabetes does run in my family so I wonder if others had it but were mis-diagnosed.
My mum has a mild form, my sister and myself both got worse forms of PCOS. My sister is 7 years older and I had to watch her go through years of trying to become pregnant. I had more noticable side affects so assumed I would struggle to become pregnant even more. My sister after many years now has 2 children and after losing 3 stone I became pregnant as well. I really struggle with my weight and some of the other more embarassing symptons. I just wish more people were aware of this condition
