There is one thing Raptor haters are forgetting. The USAF is the single most experienced airforce in the world besides the IAF. We've been building our entire military around defeating foriegn armies on their own soil. The eurofighter is truly superior to anything flying except for the big dogs like the SU-37, Mig-29 OVT, and the one that beats them all- The RAPTOR.
I still can't understand why people would hate an aircraft just because it is built in the USA, and the fact that it apparently better's anything in the sky is irelivent, on paper yes, the f-22 is better than anything, but in dog fighting which is an old hobby now, it depends more on luck than anything else. on paper the Eurofighter is the second best fighter in the world, way better than anything made in Russia, su-27 and mig-29 dont even have supercruise.
Eurofighter isn't even in the same league as the F22. The eurofighter isn't even much better than the current generation of fighters. Even the manufacturer says it's 80% as good as the F22.
dont consider europeans to be silly and have to much pride, people all around the world hate the USA get over it. i on the other hand have nothing against the USA or the raptor, if i think something is the best i will just say it regardless of who built it, as i said to bujoun76, on paper the F-22 is the most capable fighter in the world, i consider the Eurofighter to be second to it in capability.
To say that the f-22 would have a 100 percent kill rate on a Eurofighter i think would be ambitious, maybe over 80 percent would be more real world, not that you actually wrote that, i was just trying to put across my view on people who think that the Eurofighter is a lump of junk, i see them fly everyday, they are not in anyway shit, but the EF is head and shoulders above the rest of the 4th generation fighters. Thats my view, you might disagree lol.
jeeez. how many times do i have to say that there's no fighter that can outmaneuver the typhoon. the raptor doesn't even have an excellent rollrate. this video just proves that the raptor bleeds speed when turning unlike the typhoon.
People seem to forget that the raptor isn't built primarily as a fighter, but is built for the undetectable aquisition and termination of enemy aircraft. I don't care how good a plane is, it can't kill what it doesn't see.
cool!! the f-22 is truly amazing! but i wonder if would it beat the eurofighter in a dogfight coz the f-22 doesn't seemed to built for maneuverability. or did pilot did just want to maneuver like hell at all?
yes, the eurofighter is better than say an f-15e, it has beat them in dogfight tests, getting missile lock in a good enough time to achieve kill, but the F-22 is in a diffrent league, its more powerful, more manouverable than a eurofighter, and has more stealth, and can supercruise for longer, but take into mind that theres about a $100m difference between the two.
nope. only the eurofighter can turn 9Gs w/ the longest time. A raptor can do so but it can only handle a few seconds. I've seen in discovery. The raptor's edge is just it uses stealth that can supercruise and thrust vector, and uses the latest avionics. it won't win in a dogfight against a typhoon.
yes, ive never seen this program, but the one your talking about i think was released before the raptor came out, it has a black eurofighter da2 i think, the reason that euro pilots can handle 9 g's is because of the gell flying suit, not the aircraft, they can hold it for longer, and the raptor has gell suits aswell, plus more manouverability, but it all depends on the pilots.
i'm not sure when was that released for as long as i know that the raptor was already active at that time and the typhoon is not. if you say it all depends on their g-suits i tell you, you're wrong. discovery said that it was due to the typhoon's anti-drag w/c the raptor doesn't have
well it doesnt depend on the plane, im pretty sure alot of fighter jets can take 9 g for a long period of time, and ive done a bit of research, the documentary you have seen is 2004, facts about the raptor were released, but the eurofighter is still one of the dominent aircraft in the sky. in a normal g suit 9 g is not possible for long periods, not for anybody, imagine having 9 of you sat on you in a chair, thats what 9 g feels like
An F-16 can sustain 9Gs until it runs out of gas. It's the pilot's ability to withstand the Gs that's the limiting factor. An F-22 is considerably more manueverable than the F-16. The only chance the Typhoon would have would be if it somehow had gotten a visual ID, without being killed by a Raptor from BVR, and the Raptor pilot was careless.
not true, f-16 can't sustain 9GS for a long time unlike the typhoon. turning 9Gs would only damage it because it bleeds a lot of speed when doing so. however the typhoon doesn't. that's the main difference. and sad to say the raptor can be much of a maneuverable as the typhoon.
I'm not sure where you are getting your info on the F-16. The Typhoon is a very manueverable aircraft, but certainly not the only one capable of sustaining 9Gs.
As for the Raptor, you should read about its performance in Alaska if you haven't already.
discovery channel said the thing about the typhoon while it was being compared w/ the f-16. look pal, there's just no way the raptor can compete w/ the typhoon in terms of maneuverability coz only the typhoon is the plane the doesn't bleed thrust and airspeed during a turn. the raptor's just different man. :)
Really? I went to Fleetweek at San Francisco and the F/A-22's that flew by didn't sound as loud as you described. I just haven't been to enough airshows lately. *sigh*
The thing is, the part where he's vertical and not moving, he had his engines throttled WAY up. THAT was the loud part. Simple flyby, not really loud. Hitting the burners? Oi.
was there really an f22 at the ac airshow i dont remember it

Heh, I was actually there. One thing this video DOESN'T capture is how insanely LOUD that thing was. Absolutely awesome aerobatic display.
Come to think of it, this is really close to where I was sitting.
