In my culture we just slit the throat. This is because we also use the blood to cook alongside some of the organs to create a dish. We keep the head and neck intact, because it is also edible.

It's good seeing the kids help out, so they know where and how they get their food.

Nice to see youve got you kids helping, its good for them to learn where food actually comes from, and not just wrapped and ready in the grocery store. Great vid man. Small suggestion, look into using a killing cone, less streassful on the bird and ultimately easier for you!

im prolly gonna get a lot of bad hype for saying this, but when i was first watching this i expected to hear screeching from the chickens from being in pain, but as soon as the blade hit their neck there was nothing. the chickens/roosters did not feel any pain what so ever because they were dead the millisecond that the axe touch their feathers. to slaughter a chicken this the best way do it, instead of slitting their throats when still alive, its quick and painless

Killing the chicken took too long, it was causing the animal too much stress.

I have seen much better more humane ways in which to cull animals.

Use a cone, Stun the animal then bleed it, done.

It's always extreme. One group of people saves chicken and make them sleep in their bed and eat off of their dish; other kills animals in front of their kids and makes key chains out of their heads.

a couple of weeks i had to do this.what i hated the most was is that we didnt sharpen our knives and i had to hold the chicken real tight so my dad could cut its head off.we both hated it cause we wanted it to be fast but we learned a hard lesson to be prepared for the worst.anyways all the chicken yall eat always is prepared like this.hopefully its fast and clean.

The kids handle it much much better then most adults and are VERY involved in it. I, being a "kid" myself, LOVE processing. When we process I usually do the culling with Travis, who is only 8.

This way is so mutch better, i think the most of us use it here in Sweden. But we faint them before we cut the head off.

This is what more Americans need to be able to do..Europe does this and the quality of freash-home raised animals is MUCH better than store bought/commercial farmed. The animal is well cared for and then harvested and consumed and appreciated. GOD bless the farmers.

These birds had an excelent life and now they are putting food on our table, we are not just "killing" them. I forgot to add that after the bird get the head chopped off, it still moves but it is not alive, it is just nerves, it is killed on the first chop. Please take a look at the other video it explains alot.
