The manga of this OVA was the one that had Kaiser Nova, and also Kaiser's arm getting sliced off. Therefore the manga is more awesome. I do like the sword dropping down at the end and stabbing his face, but no Kaiser Nova? :(

After the crap he caused in the movie, I personally wanted that Shogun old man to receive a longer stylish beating. I was slightly dissapointed, but it was still great fight noneoftheless.

Ok man first thing i have to say is i have never seen this anime but the whole doing it with his own to hands (well as close as he can with a giant mech) is more like symbolic as a revenge thing than just blowing it away with the blinding power of Mazinkaiser. from what i could tell those people meant alot to the protagonist so he wanted to let all his frustration and vengeance out in the most personal manner he could.

@fatninja716 finishing attacks are what make super robots so awsome but if you have seen the anime youl understand why alot of us are disappointed with the ending mainly dew to the fact the final battle in the anime was freaking amazing, where he pulls a sword out of his chest (final kaiser blade) and then proceeds to battle a massive monster cyborg mecha eventually killing him even though the monster is several times larger then mazinkaiser.

I think the idea behind Mazinkaiser is that it IS an overpowered machine. So, you won't be able to find opponents that will put it in a pinch.

I think that's the reason why Nagai won't use it again. Perhaps for a final battle.

Just a little of information that might clarify this mystery.

Mazinkaiser has been created based on the Mazinger mangas, mostly Mazin Saga. The concept of the Mazinkaiser was to show the dark side of the Mazinger stories in the universe of the animes we all know. With it, the enemies shown since the OVA till the movie were only there to show one thing:

"Mazinkaiser is badass. Fuck with him, and you're dead."

There's no telling how long there is between the OVA and the movie, so in the meantime maybe he discovered these attacks. Scrander Boomerang is just an improvisation of Great Boomerang, since the fight is a tribute to the original Great Mazinger vs Ankoku Daishogun.

Unfortunately nothing beats the Ideon. The Ideon Sword extends forever and can cut through a planet, and the gun can destroy entire galaxies just for the hell of it. And even if, by some miracle, these two attacks miss Kaiser, destroying Ideon ends the universe. Because Id is vindictive like that.

Pretty much. The Buff Clan spent the entire of Space Runaway trying to kill it, and when they succeeded, Id just nuked the universe for the fun of it. In SRW Alpha 3, if Ideon EVER gets destroyed the game is over. Same for F Final. So its super powerful but if it dies you're screwed.

Cool battle, but I must agree with Captain Joystick. The finisher was too anticlimatic for my tastes. Why didn't he PWN him with the Final Kaiser Blade, or best yet, KAISER NOVA!?! The way Ankoku Daishogun died was too pathetic...

But then again, another OVA may happen because of this, hopefully a team-up with the other Mazin-god, GRENDIZER!

This battle was a homage to the original fight between Great Mazinger and Ankoku Daishogun, which was why they didn't use either of those moves.

Also, the Final Kaiser Blade was used during the OVA to beat the last guy, so they couldn't do the same twice.

And Kaiser Nova, would not only have wiped out Ankoku Daishogun, but Boss, Mucha and Nuke who are well in range of the blast. It's not Super Robot Wars where there are no consequences for overpowered moves.
