I don't remember exactly what I did, but I remember it was the easiest battle of all time. Gengi Glove + Offering + Atma Weapon + Illumina / Excalibur = about 60,000 damage. Gem Box + Economizer + Double Ultima = about 80,000 total damage. Otherwise, I suggest that the equipment you use be whatever maximizes your Magic Block stat. Then you'll just be invincible and put out gross amounts of damage.
Final fantasy 6 is a masterpiece. I picture myself sitting as an 75 year old grandfather playing this game catching up good ol memories in the future.
As much as I like FF7, I don't really like how they reused the way the last battle went. I see similarities here that make me think "what the hell was Square thinking?" Just like here, the first battle with Sephiroth takes place with him in some dark place and he's all big and dark and weird looking, like Kefka here. Then it goes to a skylike screen and he comes down from above with angel wings. And then he dies the same way; by desintegrating into nothing. What is up with these people?
@JohnnyRockerman Square doesn't think, Square is a company. The people who make the games are the one who think and it wasn't always the same people doing the same things.
Those similarities are present in the FF games even before this one and in many other games. Its a common thing.
There was only so much that could be done with system limitation at the times. Disintegrating was the best choice of affects for a final death as it depicted that the battle was truly over.

@CrazyGeistProduction There was nothing wrong with FFX. It was really good just FFX-2 which wasn't all that great. FFX does have a big fanbase kinda like FF7 but FF7 fanbase is the biggest of all FF fanbases.

They could've made so much more out of the concepts of the plot, and yet they made a VERY short game, with basically no replay value...Another dusty game in my drawer for 10 years without being touched that is. The Battle system and sphere grid was interesting though. I felt betrayed when they replaced Manual Airship with auto-traveling... Enix ruined it all. Squaresoft ftw

Pretty much all of the FF games are good, the ones that are really good id say are 4-9 and 12 was good, 10 was good story, the characters though, and 13 was just pretty overall mediocre, 1, 2, and 3 were good, just needed more refining of the story.
I do, I really do... but I would want the old square soft to make it, not Squenix. They have a knack for ruining old concepts. and I'd rather not see them take one of my favorite rpg's of all time and beat it to death before my eyes.

I agreed with you until you said all ff's but 7. Final fantasy 4 was amazing, 6 is almost the same storyline as 7 and it really shows that 7 had originally been intended on being a direct sequel to 6 and even had screenshots of locke and terra in the ff7 game engine. Final fantasy tactics was also a great game , hell all of them were except 8,10,12 and I havent played 13 or 14 because I became sort of jaded by this point.. but seriously try the oldies, they rock.

Those who hate it usually hate is because it was too hard for them.

@jackrssl Because they wanted Kefka to be in it and they chose the character that had the most antagonistic relationship with them. That's why Jecht is in it instead of Seymour(who they wanted), but they realized they'd have to use Yuna instead of Tidus. So they put Yuna in 012, which doesn't explain why Seymour wasn't added, but that's a different story

I remember playing this game as a child, always knowing that I was "enjoying" playing it. I pulled it out of the shoebox about a year ago and played again, and I am simply filled with sadness, because games are not made like they were used to anymore. I feel bad that I have never had the time to complete the game, as I never did finish kefka's tower. THANK YOU for posting this. This story will always have a place in my heart, and I feel like a better person having "completed" the story.
Also, the second tier was always the hardest for me. For some reason, I always manage to get somebody Zombie'd while they're in the process of casting Ultima, and said zombie character ends up accidentally killing my whole team as a result of it. Strange, because all the other parts of the final battle are easy for me.
I never really thought about it much before, but those tortured screams in the background before the final battle are fucking creepy as all hell. Oh well... Kefka always DID love the sound of hundreds of voices screaming in unison.
I've played FFXIII, you guys make it way worse than it really is, sure it isn't as good as many of its predecessors but it isn't god-awful. @gigawarman12 Really, I couldn't care how the fanbase looks. I'm stating my opinion, and it happens to be a fairly common one amongst those that really appreciate the original games. As far as I'm concerned the final fantasy series pretty much ended at 10, and that's pushing it. After that they may as well have just called it a spinoff series. Don't get me wrong though, most of the new games in general make me mad> any series that started in the 80s/90s that has continued, pretty much sucks now.

However in my experience, remember, also not the same as everybody's, I have found that the majority of people who truly love the older games, turn to hate the newer of the lot. Well by the looks of stuff Square likes remaking their ff games for psp with the 20 year anniversary. So far FF1 and FF2 with FF4 to come in a few days. Sure it wont be long til FF6 is remade on psp. Plus with an alternate costume for dissidia characters with the pre orders of ff4 and ff13-2 I'm sure they will remake one of the best FF games they've ever released.
i want a remake of this game, same script, no new characters, just better graphics and maybe an updated combat system that still uses magicite to obtain spells. Also some tweeks to gau and mimic to make them more effective. still love throwing people with sasquatch.

@Falstaff85 It's all the Same ending, but after Kefka, everybody, you didn't Recruit or find will die. For every Charakter, a little Sequenze can be seen; In the Backround their Hometown and in the Foreground a Pic of the Chara.
you failed hard with Sabin you shoulda given him genji glove and another relic and you should have gave the x attack and another genji glove to Edgar cause with Sabin's Final Blitz you can deal 9999 dmg anyways.

@jackrssl Because they wanted Kefka to be in it and they chose the character that had the most antagonistic relationship with them. That's why Jecht is in it instead of Seymour(who they wanted), but they realized they'd have to use Yuna instead of Tidus. So they put Yuna in 012, which doesn't explain why Seymour wasn't added, but that's a different story

I remember playing this game as a child, always knowing that I was "enjoying" playing it. I pulled it out of the shoebox about a year ago and played again, and I am simply filled with sadness, because games are not made like they were used to anymore. I feel bad that I have never had the time to complete the game, as I never did finish kefka's tower. THANK YOU for posting this. This story will always have a place in my heart, and I feel like a better person having "completed" the story.

Also, the second tier was always the hardest for me. For some reason, I always manage to get somebody Zombie'd while they're in the process of casting Ultima, and said zombie character ends up accidentally killing my whole team as a result of it. Strange, because all the other parts of the final battle are easy for me.

I've played FFXIII, you guys make it way worse than it really is, sure it isn't as good as many of its predecessors but it isn't god-awful. In all honesty if we keep complaining about newer final fantasy games for more of same stupid reasons and whatnot, the Final Fantasy Fanbase would become just as bad as the Sonic Fanbase (not that hardcore final fantasy fans aren't bad enough), but don't let newer Final Fantasy games be the downfall of the Fanbase (The MMO Final Fantasies I do not count). If we can't accept changes, then we'd be no better than sonic

@gigawarman12 Really, I couldn't care how the fanbase looks. I'm stating my opinion, and it happens to be a fairly common one amongst those that really appreciate the original games. As far as I'm concerned the final fantasy series pretty much ended at 10, and that's pushing it. After that they may as well have just called it a spinoff series. Don't get me wrong though, most of the new games in general make me mad> any series that started in the 80s/90s that has continued, pretty much sucks now.

I guess you were fortunate enough to have the games of your youth made the way you liked them. But there is nothing wrong with FF13 ATB system or any of that for me personally. I'm one of the rare people who can admit FF12 is one of the greatest (6>9>7>12 IMO), and I grew up before the SNES. But you argue with Giga like an illogical child. However in my experience, remember, also not the same as everybody's, I have found that the majority of people who truly love the older games, turn to hate the newer of the lot. You also can't deny that there's almost no real reason to call it final fantasy any more. If it weren't for moogles and spell names it would have nearly nothing to do with the rest of the series at all.

@oberhofedavi I have to agree, although I thought the 'real' series of games ended with FFIX, No RPG should have voice recordings. Part of the appeal is being able to create in your mind the 'way' the characters are speaking.
It's what ruined Legaia 2 for me, although it's still a shitload better than FFX

There's only one character (although Wakka and Vaan come pretty close) that actually annoys me, TIDUS!!!!!!!!! goddamn, could square make any more of an unlikeable protagonist, or a main hero who has so little influence on the player or the plot (granted that this spot belongs to Vaan). But seriously, Auron should have backhanded that poor little pissant and become the main hero.

@BlackYoshi2 11 had more story than any other Final Fantasy. The Chains of Promathia story was particularly amazing and LONG. 11 was just too hard and time consuming for most people.. more on the time consuming side.

Well by the looks of stuff Square likes remaking their ff games for psp with the 20 year anniversary. So far FF1 and FF2 with FF4 to come in a few days. Sure it wont be long til FF6 is remade on psp. Plus with an alternate costume for dissidia characters with the pre orders of ff4 and ff13-2 I'm sure they will remake one of the best FF games they've ever released.

@Falstaff85 It's all the Same ending, but after Kefka, everybody, you didn't Recruit or find will die. For every Charakter, a little Sequenze can be seen; In the Backround their Hometown and in the Foreground a Pic of the Chara.
