  • I always thought they said " Hang on Snoopy"....smh.

  • @coolgrl08 Yeah, so did I! I wish I could say I thought that just when I was little, but no, I thought that until I was like 26.

  • @nrrork lol. now the song makes a little more sense I guess.

  • Prayers for the Troops.

    And. Families.

    And InJured.

    And Kids.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    “Let the redeemed of the Lord say so,
    whom He has delivered from the hand of the adversary”
    (Psalm 107:2, AMP)
  • Ohio ♥
  • This is the official rock song of Ohio!
  • @IronWeaselFan Why Ohio?
  • @MoPar7055 I read it on trivia...
  • This version sucks
  • @Rao665
    As I sayed.
    I wasn`t born not at this time. Why should I care about a german which lived a hundred years ago?
  • O H
  • @FastPonyGT I am german, but I am as much responsible for WWII as you are responsible for Vietnam. I think, that we both weren't even born at this time. All countrys make mistakes, but this aren't our crimes!
  • @2plus2ist4 hey German...Snoopy shot down your hero Manfred von Richtofen.
  • will everyone just shut the fuck up and listen to the song
  • The bass line is the same as Summer Nights from Grease!
  • wtf? grease?? xD
  • von 4_Delay hört sich das auch richtig gut an das lied :***
  • Such a disconnect between the two top comments...
  • The Remains verison is much better then this, thisi s just ok. The vocals are ok/decent and the playing is subpar if they are compared.
  • @musicfan088 If this sounds weak to you, it's because it's a remake made 20 years after the McCoy's originally made it. Guitar solo is ok though.
  • The Vietnam shots are a jarring contrast to the bouncy pop of this song. Interesting effect skapaul.
  • O! H! I! O!
  • I sang this song karaoke at a bar in New Orleans while decked out in my ohio state gear! You guys should all check it out!
  • @shauser89 Number 1 on my bucket list!
  • O! H! I! O!
  • O! H! I! O!
  • so who or what is sloopy
  • O-H-I-O !!!!!
  • @burtonrules123 same here, but i do believe that Sloopy is Snoopy's sister lol
  • The real McCoy?
  • ohio anthem
  • LOVE IT!
  • I would never have said 'Oh you Americans!' If I were not so much of them. I am, and will always be, and can not be but than other.
    "We " didn't make this video, a guy from the UK did,"
    But we did in fact live this video. and that done can not be undone.
    After his speach in Cairo: "change we can believe in.... If not now, when?"
    September it comes before the entire United Nations. Is this the first American President to veto what he promised he would endorse? September!
  • ok a question to you all. could you tell me why soldiers sometimes wear some playcards on their helmet
  • @Morty562 Calling cards, they were usually Unit Cards, and they would put them at every kill
  • was das für schwuchtel kram
  • i guess all borders,barriers,divisions,classes,races,religions,everything every sort of classification should be done away with as they are just conditionings for us humans we need to rise above all this cause WE ARE ALL ONE !and that what we forget!thats why the wars ,castes, divisions,bloodshed,unhappiness! I need change! you KEEP your god damm money!
  • and just stop arguing germany is in a better economic stand point too
  • this vid says alot.this was a stupid confict based on greed and lies.the troops payed the price.thank you all for serving,the true backbone of the US.
  • I saw Ringo with his All Star band, they palyed a hard rocking versin of this song (sung by Rick) and he played some mean hard rocking licks,great guitarist.
  • make love not war!
  • fucking america!
    Why did you start so many wars???
  • @bigWerner97 ......and who started WW2? Be a troll but don't be a dumbass troll.
  • @FastPonyGT but hitler was from austia!
  • @bigWerner97 ...and who were those people who fought for the Nazi Hitler? Nice try.
  • @FastPonyGT
    time went by. Germany used to do terrible things. But in this time, every state was disposed to fight a war. Germany started it :(
    in contrast to america: we have changed, america not.
  • @MrLesPaula Sorry Les, but I'm going to have to bust you on this one. Who is currently fighting against the Libyan government? NATO forces. And who is a member of NATO since the 50's? You guessed it......... Germany! Class dismissed.
  • @FastPonyGT you're a typical american. you've got a tunnel vision
    i leave now
  • @MrLesPaula At least I have some vision. While you're out, maybe you can pick up some vision for yourself. lol.
  • @FastPonyGT and @MrLesPaula you are both idiots both of the countries have gone through rough patches and both countries have had their good times... right now both countries are in wars... germany was pulled into it and america started theirs so there
  • @ssawertt Hey asswart. Not once did I deny that America was never responsible for war. But I will NEVER EVER tolerate a ignorant hater hypocrite from Germany calling the United States, "fucking America". BTW, you need to tend to your own business and learn some basic reading comprehension skills or better yet, STFU.
  • @FastPonyGT it's their opinion and they have a right to it and if you want to argue get off the comments. and go into messages between you two
  • @ssawertt It took you two weeks to come up with that response? It's of my opinion that if you want to argue with me get off the comments you damn hyprocite.
  • @FastPonyGT Actually, that German chap can say whatever he wants. See, that's called "freedom of speech". And what's preventing him from saying that? I don't believe that his generation was responsible for the war. That's like saying that English people should still take responsibility for the Crusades. The only difference is time, man.
  • @Englander30 Yeah.... he can say whatever he wants, and I can reply back to correct him, too. You're preaching to the choir about "freedom of speech" as that's our basic right as Americans. But I'm not about hate speech and that is what the cheap shot "chap" did. So you can argue all you want, but I'm not about to stand pat and allow someone to try and defame America. BTW, he could have continued to make his case but he knows he's wrong so he stopped his BS. Sayonara!
  • @FastPonyGT That's fine, too. That's your right. But please don't pretend that America is whiter than white when trying to take the moral high ground, pal. Like I say, you'll have a hard time doing that with the blood of the innocents of My Lai on your nation's hands.
  • @Englander30 You damn right it's fine and I don't pretend anything about America. This is about me replying to a hater and setting the record straight and I don't need anyone preaching to me about morals either.
  • @FastPonyGT Wasn't preaching morals, son. I was just reminding you about certain facts is all.
  • @Englander30 "Please don't pretend that America is whiter than white when trying to take the moral high ground." That's preaching and I've got all the facts I need, so reminders aren't necessary.
  • @FastPonyGT Are we arguing about whether or not I was preaching now? Cos if so, I'd suggest that it's a matter of opinion. So, you have all the facts? Then I commend you on your superior knowledge, sir. I'll follow your future comments with close interest.
  • @FastPonyGT And to any American who thinks they're any better than anyone else, I say "My Lai".
  • @FastPonyGT hahahahhhahahahahaha <3
  • I agree. Not to mention America kicked Germanys ass twice.....lol
    Us Canadians helped too. May North America rule the world...
  • @fantasyjeff1981 It was more a case of the US, UK, Canada, Australia and the other allies mopping up after Russia and the other soviet states. North America's tempory dominance will soon be switched for Asia, primarily China, Japan, India and Russia.
  • @bigWerner97
    What are all these wars the US started?? The British attacked us in the Revolution and fired on us during peace before the War of 1812, Mexico attacked us, the Rebels attacked us, we at least believed the Spanish attacked us (though forensics say maybe in error), Germany bombed our ports in WWI, Japan bombed our fleet in WWII, the Communists attacked Korea and Vietnam, and Hussein invaded Kuwait... you could pin 2nd Iraq and maybe Afghanistan on us, but not much else...
  • @Robertz1986 ohh, and vietnam and korea?
  • My grandmother's sister's husband was musterd gassed in the trenchs of Verdun. Dad was a bomer piolet in the Pacific theater, his bother Harold was at the Bulge, thouh he he never spoke about it.
    War!
    How dare you ask questions that can not be answered.
    War!
    How dare you not to ask them!
  • What are 'bad thoughts', and what are 'bad comments,' These are our memories; so yes I agree:
    simply enjoy.
    Oh you Americans!
  • i search the german translate
    know anyone a webpage with it
  • 2:27 :D boom
  • i always thought they were saying SNOOPY, like the dog.
  • @burtonrules123
    we have the same hearing problem, lol. I thought that too.
  • @burtonrules123 LOL me too
  • @burtonrules123 ikr ive been singing the wrong lyrics for years
  • @burtonrules123 SO DID I
  • @burtonrules123 Nobody would have known that if you didn't just use youtube as your Father Confessor. Now the whole world knows you thought Sloopy was Snoopy. How embarassing for you and your family.
  • @redfordforpresident you = asswipe.
  • @burtonrules123 So did I, for many years--and it never helped that I kept picturing the dog wearing the red dress during the second verse.
    It wasn't until years later it finally dawned on me that the girl's name was "SLOOPY"
  • @glowworm2 the cool thing is, if you've ever listened to the Royal Guardsmen's "Snoopy vs. the Red Baron" you'll hear them give homage to this song around 1:47 not the Christmas version but the original.
  • Definitely one of the top 100 "ICONIC" songs of the 1960's ... I would love to see a compiled list ... as there are so so many ... but this has to be on the list ...any others ?
  • The young soldier with his hands clasped, the sadness and disappointment in his eyes, this is as much an anti-war photograph as any photo of blood or body bags. And the black man with the playing cards on his helmet. It is the same.
  • Youre like a little Mutt who keeps shitting in my yard dont want to hurt ya but your barking is somewhat annoying as a child. that has wonder out in the street and is now facing traffic known as'' Reality''. Get your Mom to fix you a good Lunch and go back to your Videos and when you reach 63 call me hahahahaaaaaaa.
  • nice pictures, music ... not so good :oP
  • this song has nothing to do with war.
  • @kikomiko1 What does your young ass know about war? I had Hang on Sloopy wriiten on my steel pot in referance to Hang on ''We got to get out of this place if its the last thing we ever do the year 1968 =Red warriors.us.
  • @Grunt6869 sorry if I offended you gramps, but this ain't "fortunate son", it's just a silly love song. Sure, I guess you can interpret it any way you like if it makes you happy, but that doesn't change the fact that that's not what the song is about.
  • @kikomiko1 Money says your grandpop never seen Nam little acorn.
  • @Grunt6869 What difference does that make? So, if someone didn't fight and kill people in your precious little war, that makes them less of a person than you? That's pathetic. You need to stop living in the past.
    And for your information, no, my grandpop never fought in Vietnam. He was too old by then. He wasn't too old to have been on Iwo Jima, though. And he sure as hell doesn't go around bragging about it like you do.
  • @kikomiko1 From the math it seems you were adopted but if indeed your Grandpop did serve during WorldWar2 it would indicate your limited knowledge of world war 2 and that of Vietnam . in that the greater generation=United states left the french to control and occupy Vietnam which eventually led to us babyboomers being sent to Vietnam after the fall of the French during the 60's as combat soldiers in a conlict that was never declared a war..Cee lo-fu
  • @Grunt6869 oh please...is that the best comeback you can muster? that vietnam wasn't "technically" a war? people were fighting and killing each other. I don't care what the rule book says, that's a war.
  • @TheBrainWeed : Yeah! I was at a Ringo concert in Randers Denmark on June 12th, and the version they played was so much cooler than the original!
  • i love this song two but why are there all these war pictures
    ????
  • i love playing this song...
  • Is this the McCoys? take it from someone who was in junior high at the time not the McCoys but a good version
  • @bunkerhilled ya it is the McCoys
  • Haven't heard this Song in a very long time. Air Cav rocks as do Marine Recon units, Seal Teams everywhere, Green Berets, 82nd Airborne and all who keep my neighborhood and the West; safe and quiet....belated but always Thanks.....Historic Photos indeed. child of the 60's and 70's.
  • VIETNAM WAS NOT WAR AGAINST COMUNISM, WAS AGAINST "CATHOLICS" OR CHRISTIAN. just 57.000 americans died in 11 years
    6.000.000 CATHOLIC FROM A TOTAL POPULATION OF 6.400.000 KILLED BY jews JOHNSON AND KISSINGER,( 2.200.000 killed by Pol Pot khomer rouge in concentration camps). With JFK alive, this crime was not possible, so JFK
    was condemned ....
  • Playing this in Jazz Band at school :D
    Epic bass line. I wanted to play the bass line on my trombone, but alas, I was not allowed. Whatever the political meaning is, can't we just put it aside and enjoy the music?
  • @TheBrainWeed ME TO!
  • My parents are both Vietnam Vets. Dad was a Medic, Mom was a Nurse. If it weren't for the Vietnam War, I wouldn't be here today. Thank you for posting this. I wish that there was more recognition and support for the Veterans.
  • @jacob7207 there is no problem with supporting vets, but war is inherent evil...and by the way: if you or me wouldn't exist today, nobody would care, because nobody would know, thaht we would have been there...
  • @19Lukeford95 "If a man hasn't discovered something that he will die for, he isn't fit to live."
    - Martin Luther King, Jr..."Freedom! No word was ever spoken that held out greater hope,
    demanded greater sacrifice, needed more to be nurtured,
    blessed more the giver, cursed more its destroyer,
    or came closer to being God's will on earth.
    And I think that's worth fighting for.
    -General Omar N. Bradley, US Army
  • @19Lukeford95 "War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded
    state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is
    much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight,
    nothing which is more important than his own personal safety,
    is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made
    and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."
    - John Stewart Mill ---Some things are more evil than war.---
  • @scout14j yes of course, war isn't the worst thing ever, but it's bad evertime ot happens...like death is bad ever, too, but there are situations, where death is better than its alternatives
  • @jacob7207 :P
  • Union City, Indiana is a border town, though, so it's likely not too far out that The McCoys would have played gigs in Ohio, as well.
  • I had ''hang on Sloopy'' written on my steel pot=helmet During my tour in Vietnam 68-69 As I lived those thrilling days of yesturyear C -company 1-12 4th infantry
  • fuck this video,
  • This is true dog sh*t. And The McCoys were from Union City IN.
  • The McCoys were actually an Indiana band.
  • @IndianaSurfGuitar indiana was harder to spell out in that short amount of time that they just have the drums playing. so they gave it ohio. i guess or ohio stole this song.
  • O-H-I-O!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • O-H-I-O!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Ohio sucks
  • lied klasse bilder zum kotzen.
    mies das video.
  • Oh you Americans - the nice song "Hang on Sloopy" - and all these NAM pictures - where's the connection ??
    Stop your bad thoughts (and comments) and simply enjoy this song !
  • @bobu46 This song came out just the start of the Vietnam conflict. Our service men would play music to help forget the horror they were in. It still helps. Now some of the negative comments are from morons.
  • @bobu46 thats what i was thinking
  • @bobu46 the connection is the era in which the song came out.
    and cut this "you americans" bullshit. "we" didnt make this video, a guy from the UK did
  • How do you go about making a video like this? I have pictures of my brother who was a member of the 116th AHC Hornets in Vietnam. I have the photos on photobucket.
  • Very good!!!!!
  • This is the most ignorant and inconceivably misinformed comment I have ever had the displeasure of having assault my eyes, brain and sensibilities. One needs to have their facts... F-A-C-T-S, straight before popping their cork with garbage like the comment above by sunflashbloodmace !!! NONE of it is correct... NONE OF IT!!! God bless you and your sons Francis J. O'Reilly and thank you for your service to the People of this country and People around the Globe..
  • I posted this on Facebook and myspace :) In Honor Of Our Great Viet Nam War Veterans :) We Salute You :) Veterans Day is November 11th !! Go Visit Your Local VFW or American Legion and Shake The Hands Of Our Greatest Patriots ( Our Soldiers and Veterans ) ! :)
  • @samadamsronzio, respect for any Vietnam soldier or veteran, but november 11th is Remembrance Day, the day that Germany signed an armistice agreement with the Allies. The war great officially ends at 11:00. The eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month 1918.
  • Hang on - ANY - Sloopies!!
