  • okami music... is stunning

  • That title scared me for a second.... The thumbnail said "similar moments in Okami and Twilight"...I'm happy I was wrong

  • @Bgeas12 Lolololol! That would've scared me to! The thought of it though, comparing Twilight to Okami... I just died a little inside...

  • Neither ripped off each over and the makers of Okami said that they were inspired by Legend of Zelda, but they added and changed so much to make it amazing. Both are amazing games.

  • okami is such a beautiful game!(so is twilight princess)

  • I don't know either, but I know the sequel to okami, okamiden (translated to "legend of okami"; in japanese.)

  • Obviously they both ripped off each other using a time machine and some self-confirming time travel paradox.

  • @WolfenNights *Internet High Five* Well played good sir.

  • the music is kamui of the northern lands from Okami

  • @Radulves so I don't think they are that similar so now I'm stupid >.>

  • um TP and okami really only have one thing in common. The main character is a wolf/can transform into a wolf. . . so why try comparing or saying one copied the other. I think that's pretty stupid. You don't see link running around drawing things with a brush, and you don't see amy transforming into a human (though it would be cool if she could).

  • @creamXcookies and actually amy is a a goddess >.>

  • @creamXcookies They are very similar games, everybody knows that, so I'm not going to deal with that statement anymore, it has long been settled. This video is mostly about the experience, and pointing out that the game has more similarities than what most people discuss, that there are actually moments in both game that are very similar. Also, Oki and other Oina can turn into wolves.

  • @VidMasterZ I would argue they are only similar in terms of gameplay. For example, earlier in the video you compare Orochi's revival to the Twilight begining to cover Hyrule. While I will conceed that they might be similar in terms of obstructing light/the sun the emotions of these two moments are slanted in different ways: Orochi's revival with booming music gives you more of a sense of urgency while Hyrule being thrust into Twilight with a more subdued track gives melancholic air.

  • @CrystalBahamut I agree that they have different emotions during when you see the zones first appear, although when you actually get there, the emotions are the reverse of what you said. The gameplay is also pretty different. What I would argue is the same is the concept in this case. They're bad effects on the land that that need to be rid of.

  • @creamXcookies - Not to mention that Twilight Princess was actually quite the inspiration for the creator of Okami :).

  • Okami copied from zelda *gasp

who cares, Okami did it better anyway XD

  • @UniquEnegma I really wish people would follow up their statements with something along the lines of evidence supporting their views. I don't care if you prefer one over the other; I care about WHY.

  • @CrystalBahamut I found the story in okami a lot more enjoyable than TP. Also, you kept using your powers again and again throughout the game. Which, IMO, means that it has better game design than TP because it's usually use an item for a dungeon and good luck finding that piece of heart somewhere in the world with said item. And so, the few dungeons in Okami, I found to be better than the many in TP

Granted though, TP combat system was a bit better, but only for Human Link.

  • @UniquEnegma Fair enough, and I do agree with pretty much all you said. Twilight Princess wasn't NEARLY as inventive as Okami, but that's probably because it was part of a well established series and as such didn't really "need" to do anything differently. Okami on the other hand did take a lot of the basic structure of Zelda but reinvented it, though I wish health expansion was solely through the praise leveling.

  • @xYazura1556 Meecrob

  • @xYazura1556 Zelda came out decades before Okami, faggot. Go suck on your mother's dick.

  • 0:38 he falls down very softly.

  • @X6800 The first time I played the game when I was younger, I thought he was tired and just fell asleep!

  • They tried to make links transformation a bit to dramatic

  • @silvershockerwolf It would have been better if they actually put in music with his transformation instead of just him making strangely innapropriate sound :/

  • the one who dislikes is Yami X)

  • Of course you can compare things such as heroic beginnings, darkness, and all kinds of things... You could probably compare these things to Final Fantasy, or some other fantasy-based game.

There are cliche ques to any saga, so there's always going to be similarities.

  • @airikitascave I guess that's true, but it's not happening cause I've never played a Final Fantasy game. ;p

  • THey cant copy from one another. if they did they get sued. soooo its no possble

  • @WolfWild15 So it's not possible because they would get sued? What kind of logic is that?

  • @VidMasterZ MAH LOGIC

  • @VidMasterZ Troll logic?

  • TP and Okami. The best games of the Wii. ^^

  • "Who would of thought there'd be a secret passage here?....IT MUST LEAD TO THAT BUSTY BABE OR IM A MONKEY"S UNCLE!" I lol'd at this

  • Okami rocks.

  • Also, Okami first came out April 20th, 2006. Twilight Princess came out October 16th, 2006.

So both were in development around the same time, and therefore it would be near impossible for either to copy one another, though slightly possible for TP to take a couple ideas; though it'd be too late at that stage to change much of anything but minor details.

TL;DR: Near impossible for either to copy each-other.

  • @GlaceonOfHearts Not quite, it was still possible for people across the development teams to access the other's game during development.

  • @GlaceonOfHearts No ones saying the copied from each other, but they're are similar moments also some of the ideas for okami came from tp or at least that's what the person who made Okami said.

  • @GlaceonOfHearts Not really, that's more than half a year apart. Plenty of time to add in some things.

  • @GlaceonOfHearts TP was originally scheduled to be released in 2005 on the GameCube. But got held back so it could be released on the Wii as well.

  • the pheonix in okami looks just like moltres

  • @cupcakewarpkelly That's cuz Moltres is a phoenix. Duh. :)

  • @cupcakewarpkelly Not surprising seeing as how Moltres is based off of the legendary phoenix.

  • I think Okami is the best game on the wii/ps2 its just that great and i m not comparing zelda and okami. the storyline is good, the carackters are intresting, and the gameplay? i dont even need to say anything;)

  • umad Zelda fanboys?

  • @DumDum5551 Lol!

  • ok to clear this all up, zelda TP was a somewhat unique concept inspired by older games in the series. Okami on the other hand is based almost ENTIRELY around japanese mythology, especialy characters and names of certain objects such as Nagi's sword Tsukiyomi. just because both include wolves doesn't mean they copied off of eachother. and either way Okami wins big time

  • Link is better

  • okami is better...

  • How do I get okami?

*ducks down beneath a table and pits hands over head

Plz don't hurt me! I seriously don't know.

  • I don't think one copied from another. If you look em up, they both were in development around the exact same time. So in a sense, they got ideas from eachother, but not ONE completely copying the other. Storyline wise, they're completely different.

  • I honestly think that okami would beat link in a fight, but wolf link is just better

  • Okami obviously copied from Zelda. But I don't consider that a bad thing. That just means more good games.

  • @Dumbmajor9696 Okami was inspired by Zelda. Twilight Princess copied specific scenes from Okami.

  • @Dumbmajor9696 a copied game means more good games?....jajaja ok keep spending money to get "nothing new"

  • Comment removed

  • @Dumbmajor9696 Okami was released April 2006 and Zelda was November 2006. I mean, I'm not saying that Zelda is bad but Okami couldn't have copied Twilight Princess.

  • @ShootingStarz990 He was referring to the Zelda series in general, not Twilight Princess. The creator of Okami did state that Zelda was an inspiration for Okami, but then again, he (though I'm not sure if it was the same guy) also said that he was disappointed by Twilight Princess. :S

  • @Dumbmajor9696 No, Okami didn't copy off Zelda, the guy who made Okami just must've had similar ideas. Anyways if they did copy Zelda, they'd get sued.

  • @Dumbmajor9696

Okami was released before Zelda so if anyone copied anyone, nintendo copied Okami's development team.

  • @Dumbmajor9696 Actually twilight princess was created after Okami.

  • A lot of the scenes in TP reference previously used concepts in older zelda games. So instead of implying TP copied Okami, it might actually be that older zelda games inspired a lot of the sequences in Okami. Or Okami copied from the older Zelda games.

  • @madtrini While the creators of Okami have said that Okami is generally inspired by Zelda, there are some very specific scenes in Okami that Twilight Princess has as well, which is different, and an extreme coincidence. If you have any scenes from other Zelda games before Okami that show as evidence that they happened first in Zelda, then I would like to see them.

  • @VidMasterZ

In Zelda games you always save the world which is covered in darkness and return light. In TP they just made the transformation literal as well as metaphorically. So that is in no way a new concept.

The boss fight you show is inspired by many many other zelda boss fights. It in fact resembles the boss fight from Windwaker since in that dungeon you use the bomerang and you have to slash away at an inner monster to deal any real damage. (Boss Battle #2, Windwaker) Go look it up.

  • @madtrini It wasn't really about the fights, it was about the bosses themselves, and their characteristics.

  • @VidMasterZ The bird like spirit is so generic. Could have been inspired by a previous boss or previous ally. In windwaker there was an entire race of bird people and also a flying dragon so it can be related to that creature. Or it can be simply taken from the phoenix legend. It in no way implies that Zelda 'copied'. Like I said if there was any copying it was done by Capcom. The ghost thing concept was used by nintendo in Kakriko cemetery in OoT. (The ghost of the undertaker.)

  • @madtrini Again, you're reading too much into these comparisons, I was comparing the design of the light spirits to the design of the brush gods. I just decided to do the birds because they were the same animal, so they were the best for illustrating the similarities.

  • @VidMasterZ

The ethereal bridge: Used in OoT. I am pretty sure it was used in other zelda games as well. The cannon scene. There are cannons in super mario 64 and in WindWaker. The earliest zelda games had bombs. WindWaker had the deku leaf which allowed link to use strong gusts of wind. Also he had the conductor wind which commanded the wind. The wind puzzle and wind platforming you showed there was in WindWaker which existed waaaayyyy before Okami

  • @madtrini Not just an ethereal bridge, but an ethereal bridge activated by placing the sword in a sacred slot in the ground.

  • @VidMasterZ Giant doorway.. Mehh... There are giant doorways in all zelda games, mario games, in harry potter, in lord of the rings etc, etc. Okami jumping into a well, stolen from Okarina of Time in Kakariko village. Snow peak, inspired from the snow stage in mario 64, the snow area in majora's mask. (There was probably a snow area in OoT but I can't remember right now..) Blizzeta is a giant ball.. resembles the final boss in link's awakening which true form was a giant shadow ball. (LA 1994)

  • @madtrini A doorway to nowhere that is just a door in a frame in the middle of an extremely difficult to navigate sacred, yet dangerous forest that takes you back in time? Yeah, they have one of those in every game...

  • @VidMasterZ

Arbiter grounds resembled an Ocarina of Time dungeon.

In conclusion, you are grasping at straws and it appears you have not played ANY zelda games besides TP. If you have you have a terrible memory or a terrible bias. There is a reason why zelda is one of the greatest franchises ever. It is incredibly imaginative and have tons of ideas and concepts. I have played probably half or less than half of all zelda games and I know there are heavy references to previous games in TP.

  • @madtrini You seem to think that I am arguing something with this video, but is just about the experience, sit back, and enjoy it. They are just things that are interesting about both games (although I admit, I did go way overboard with the similarities, I wanted to come up with as many examples as I could.). You seem pretty uptight, you need to relax, and just relish in the fact that we have such great games.

  • @madtrini I was going to leave it at that, but then I read the rest of your post, and now you're just getting hostile. I have not played any other Zelda games before, but what the hell does bias have to do with this? Oh yeah, I have a pro-similarity bias... Is that what you're getting at? Now that we're at this point, it is easy to see that your just mad because you're a Zelda fanboy.

  • they're both good but in a fight? ammy kicks link's ass any day

  • @DumDum5551 Ayup! :)

  • @lagrtz Yep, and I even managed to put that in the video, the parts where the Cursed Zones and the Twilight Zo... er, I mean zones filled with twilight appeared, and were removed.

  • Holy fuck...At time's when it showed the simalarity I Was like "Holy Crap!"

  • @wolflinkanddogfan Thanks! I was hoping it would have that effect on people!

  • @VidMasterZ It did :D

  • I can't tell...Is the music from TP Or Okami?

  • @wolflinkanddogfan ...Isn't it obvious? All the songs are from Okami. Didn't you notice how all the songs are... good? Yeah you don't get that in Twilight Princess.

  • @VidMasterZ I meant the first song. And you do get that in Twililight princess.

  • @wolflinkanddogfan The first song is Kamui of the Northern Lands/Northern Country Kamui.

  • @VidMasterZ Thanks.

  • Can you please tell me what the title of the music is called? :)

  • on tp you missed the final blow? lol

  • @Infernapeblaze66 I didn't miss. The game missed. It was an auto target, so I had no control over whether it hit or not.

  • i never thought of all those senarios! i thought of a few of them, but like, 10 in there never crossed my mind. both awesome games! :D

  • lol rising sun sped up

  • @CrimsonDragon298 Huh? It's not sped up. I thought of doing that, but it ended up sounding horrible, so I by some miracle was able to seamlessly cut out the middle part of the song.

  • @VidMasterZ Actually, it is. But just slightly.

  • What song did you use? It's great.

  • I have both games! Love okami better

  • @okamiweed Me too!

  • they have some same parts

  • they sorta have some similar parts in it

  • the part when link is chasing the ghost okami has the same

  • sone of the parts arn't really the but the part when link is chasing that ghost okami has the same

  • sone of the parts arn't really the but the part when link is chasing that ghost okami has the same thing

  • sone of the parts arn't really the but the part when link is chasing that ghost okami has the same thing too. but ive been playing okami for a long time soo okami is better

  • @filipinorat14 Yep.

  • okami is better

  • @dadude1200 I agree.

  • Lol the "similarities" you say exist are heavily, and i mean HEAVILY overstated.

  • There are so many more similarities then just the ones shown, but both games are drastically differant in plot and characters. And I love both games.

  • @TheForbidding Really? I put up all the ones I could think of. If you know of more please tell me, as I would like to discuss them.

  • why do you have twilight princess for wii and okami for ps2/ps3. why dont you have them both for wii. you to lazy to draw? lol

  • @pmaguire13 I started filming this before I got Okami for the Wii. Also I got Okami way before it came out on the Wii, and also buying the game again costs money, either way, WhyTF does it matter?

  • @VidMasterZ i was joking it was a joke im not tryin to be mean or anything

  • @pmaguire13 Definitely one of the stupidest things i've ever read.

  • @mrsarcastic1988 2 months after i said it

  • @pmaguire13 which has nothing to do with the intelligence of the statement. I seriously doubt that 2 months have made THAT big of an impact on your mental growth.

  • That just shows that twilight princess stole from okami no wonder y some of it was familiar

  • @xchickenmanx Sorry, it's just that I've never heard anyone compare anybody to Issun except Midna. Also, I've never played Ocarina of Time. Comparing the whole seeies to Okami is no fun 'cause Okami is based on Zelda. The interesting thing about comparing Twilight Princess to Okami is that they have so many similarities despite the fact that Okami came out first.

  • @VidMasterZ the first and second two are nothing alike..... yeah, actually, most of the pairs are nothing alike. Just wanted to let you know that...

  • @Pop12646Okami So you thought the whole theme of the twilight zo... er, areas was nothing like the curse zones? Also, I wouldn't have wasted hours filming this if I didn't think they were anything alike, just wanted to let you know that.

  • @VidMasterZ Well congratulations because you did.

  • What song is this?

  • @linkylova All the songs are from Okami.

  • 7:07

I thought "Dead tree and the person forgot to bloom it"

Ooops wrong game....Just finished Okami now working on getting all the forms and finished Twilight Princess awhile ago. It's ridiculous now how similar these games are now...But I love them both!

  • Comment removed
