  • dam closest to the temp's

  • Awesome one of my all time favorites.........Thanks for posting.

  • Who is your father in this video?

  • 12 people didn't see what they got.

  • I remember when this son was a HUGE HIT, I was living in Oklahoma at the time. Whenever my friends and I were driving down the road in one of our cars and this song came on, "we cranked up the radio" as loud as it could go [back then] and sang along. This is just one of those songs I can't get out of my head. It has great lyrics, great music, and you can actually [understand] every word they's saying. I'll go to bed tonight with song in my head.

    Phoenix, AZ

  • when did lj Reynolds come into the groups

  • Seriously, this is some GREAT ****! Pure, uncut Soul Music!

  • Incredible song and video. If one of these guys really is your pop, you must be very proud. Great talent.

  • I'm mad I wasn't born in the 5os to experience the core. I was born in 199o : /

  • Ron Banks brought them brothers on Soul Train I believe after most of the members of the Original Group had moved on or pass. But the cut is still one of my favorites as well as "Be My Girl". Go on Dramatics do your thang!!!!!!

  • i bump this in my 1960 Buick!!!!!

  • @ixlives Who's your father?

  • Whichever one Pop is, they are all groovin!! I love the Dramatics. I wonder if you got his Genes for Talent!

  • is it jus me or did they rock the shit out the stage.

  • Somethings can't be duplicated, the 70's was a great decade for Sweet Soul music, love the sound of Dramatics. Ron is gone Weegie the lead singer is gone, I believe Elbert the brother in the white suit who is dancing his ass off is gone, but man what music

  • Love Love Love this song...what a great group the Dramatics were!

  • Wow, what a great piece of music. I remember for the day, and still can't get it out of my mind!

  • OMG! I remembered when I was little, and my dad had this old 69 Impala, lifted, the whole 9 yards, we used to go crusing and blast this song. Brings back memories. :')

  • This and "In The Rain", is The Dramatics at their best.

  • what a collection of voices....smooth, high-pitched, deep, gravelly....what a combo! Long live 70's soul....The Dramatics, Isleys, Ohio Players, Lonnie Liston Smith, NYC, the Manhattans, Eddie Kendricks, Bill Withers, James Brown, Johnny Taylor, Spinners, etc. Such incredible talent....and SOUL!

  • This is exactly why I wanted to be an African American when I was a little girl...

  • I was just thinking about this song...not sure why... lol Great outfits. :)

  • what i see and what i get from the 70's is hell of a lot better than the music today

  • @playerhatersball so true

  • 70s soul is real music..ny current music is watered down bullshit!and thats coming from a 25yr old dig it!!!!

  • Fantastic composition-performance, everything a classic should be. Thank you for sharing this.

  • Great group! the vocal ranges in this group, outrageous harmonies, great arrangement, this is the great lost Soul/R&B.

Unfortunately, the record industry has hijacked the name R&B and churns out a bunch of lame crap.

    These guys could SING, period.

  • I love how they step up to the mic and sing their solo parts. World class music!

  • This song was sung by the McCampbell brothers in Flint Michigan way back in the day before they went on to become the Mac Band featuring the McCampbell Brothers and release their hit Roses Are Red. Kevin, tore this up! Who remembers Flint Michigan in the late 60s early 70s? When we were all young gifted and black and we called ourselves Afro American.

  • @Terryman1960 Who was the lead singer and what happened to him. I know LJ Reynolds replaced him and still does a great job. Just wondering about a little history if you can help. Thanks!

  • @blewis9505 Blewis.....William WeeGee Howard is his name. He died 7 yrs ago. He has a tune on YOUTUBE called Children Hold On To Your Dreams in the Teddy Pendergrass/Wake Up Everybody vein.....also check out LJ Reynolds new video Come Get To This on you tube...he has new interview this month on Ron Banks death as well type LJ Reynolds untold story of Ron Banks on yahoo..

  • @taylor4660 Thank you so much! <3

  • all so sexy!

  • Wpw! Your Pops had it going on! This is truly a classic and one that plays in my head all the time. Thank you so much!

  • not all of them had the best voices but i could listen to them all day because they were actually saying something

  • Wee Gee (in the red)-influenced by David Ruffin

Ron Banks (green) influenced by Eddie Kendricks

Willie Ford (blue) influenced by Melvin Franklin

Larry Demps (purple) influenced by Paul Williams as was Elbert Wilkins (white)

that's why the Dramatics were so tight. They are only ones who could give the Tempts a damn good run.

  • yay! This video is back! One of all time favorite! Thank you!

  • Love Wee Gee's sexy eyes. He was so cute.

  • i love the dramatics brilliant from the u.k

  • Man this song is the bomb! I use to listen to this when I was about 8 yrs old in '72. They just don't make good REAL music like this anymore!!!

  • did some searching this line-up is William Howard (red) Ron Banks (green) Larry Demps (purple) Elbert Wilkins (white) & Willie Ford (blue)

  • Why was this taken off a few months ago? Thanks so much for reposting.

  • I missed this when it was taken off a few months ago. This was one fantastic tune--remember it well in college in the early 70's. Beginning of the Disco run but this was far superior. Classic lyrics, timeless. Dancing . All blends in perfectly. Thanks for bringing this back. Don't know which one was your dad but if he's the lead singer unbelievable, man. Unbelievable.

  • What outfits! Yes, this WAS done in 1971. Nice tune, by the way.

  • OMG Wee Gee was so awesome! They all were...very tight and underrated band! Very nice video, everything is so in sync.

  • Wee Gee died too young also. Great video

    Thanks

  • @brandini5000 My man Wee Gee!!

  • what a good song.

  • nice

  • Great memories!! Great R&B "Some people are up to no good".....Lyrics that still apply in todays' society & in our goverment.

  • This song gives me goosebumps.

The Dramatics are/were fantastic - top quality.

  • I love this song. It's based on the popular saying from Laugh In. Totally plastic, but good plastic.

  • I always sound like a bitter old man when I hear these great classic songs-- But THEY DO NOT MAKE MUSIC OF THIS QUALITY ANYMORE!!

What you look like and your "image" is more important than having any damn musical talent :>(

  • luv this old song...Dramatic are the real deal...soulful!!

  • This song Is So true! Cuz Whatcha See Is whatcha You Get!

  • The music brings back so many memories from the 70's. I'm really loving the choreography as well

  • Omg that is to kool,,

  • music back then had substance.....period

  • I'M FOR REAL, AS REAL AS REAL CAN GET!

  • Real music. Real artists.

  • yo this what made the black gods

  • William oooooeeh looking good!

  • The leas singer had a gorgeous smile and a to-die-for voice.

  • thank you so much i've been looking all over for this classic. ~ can someone please tell me what year this came out, i can't recall.

  • @bluelibra65 It came out early 1972 late 1971

  • RON BANKS 1st tenor/ lead - in green. LARRY "SQUIRREL" DEMPS, baritone/lead -in purple. WILLIAM "WEE-GEE" HOWARD-2nd tenor/lead in red/orange- WILLIE FORD Bass/lead -in blue ELBERT WILKINS Tenor/Baritone/lead - in white.

Howard and Wilkins left the group shortly after their 2nd album , A DRAMATIC EXPERIENCE was recorded....replaced by LENNY MAYES and LARRY "L.J. " REYNOLDS . WILLIE FORD and LARRY DEMPS are still alive RON, WEE-GEE, and ELBERT ane gone...as is LENNY MAYES.

  • soul train had to be cancelled for four months after carl carlton actually rerouted an actual train into the studio by way of his soul.

  • Great performance. William "Wee Gee" Howard was an AWESOME SINGER. Love his voice, it is more appealing than L.J. Reynolds' voice. L.J.s' voice is more suited for gospel which he sings great. Love those Dramatics!!!

  • This is a classic I wish more people would be like like this today. Alot of people today is full of lies.

  • Holy shite...as an 18 year old white male, I say: Why the hell can't there be more music like this. I yearn for the innovation and funk of 70's soul.

  • @Hawke90 you ain't never lied

  • I wish we could always say " What we see is what we get". great song.

  • And REAL....the Best Thing Yet :)

  • I grew up with the Soul Train and all of these groups, but I don't remember the Dramatics having moves like this!!!!

  • i know im not the only 1 who thinks that the bass guy looks like JJ from "good times" especially @ 0:30

  • ladymuzilover I was thinking the same thing about the bass singer look like Jimmie Walker from Good Times When he's ready to do one his silly dances. But anyway the Dramatics was a great group back in the day and when this first came out i was 4 or 5 years old lol.

  • @alijn7 lol about jimmie walker...im sure it brings back good memories then

  • damn, Ron Banks just died :(

  • Some people are made of plastic.. Not back in the day when everyone was Solid Giold...and we all got along no matter what color or race..what fun we had...and certainly looked out for one another,

This is CLASSIC music & memory this music will live on and on forever..Great memories, great friends and the greatest of times! Wish I could turn back the hands of time...DAMN!

  • @2009Denisem you ain't lyin hun! there you go again takin the words from my mouth :-) so with that said! yeah what she said!:-)

  • @THRILLAKILLA187 :-) Peace & Love my sweet friend!

  • @2009Denisem U R so right that they were solid gold, but Desegregation wiped us out pal. Integration was the begining of the end for all races particularly Black people. When this music was rolling in St Louis back in the day, I was young and having fun. What I remember very well was some of My teachers stayed in the hood right by us. We played with their children. All of a sudden people started to move out. I didn't know what was going on then, but I look back and it was results of integr.

  • @tonkinshipwreck69 You know I lived in the projects back in the 60's & 70's and I was brought up with African American ppl and music.. and those were the best years of my adolescents...all were working class ppl and struggling hard times back in the day but the best is we all looked out for one another.. What can I say? Today is simply a shit world....Racism SUCKS big time! So very sad..

Peace & Love to you and yours my friend..

  • @2009Denisem yep you got it right! we all need to look at everything through the eyes of a child and then there we won't see the different colors or race and we'll all accept each others cuz in the eyes of a children they don't see color or race unless they were raised that way!!!! racisms sucks and we need to knock that shit off cuz somewhere down that road in life you just might need that persons help!

  • @THRILLAKILLA187 Amen! :-)

  • @2009Denisem yep keep keepin on! amen!

  • @tonkinshipwreck69 My dad sang in stl in a group called The Paper Bags back in the late 60's early 70's. he lefted behind all great music, but i grew up listening to it bcause my mom, uncle, and friends up and down tne streets peeps was bumping all the time. Westside fo life!!!!!!!!

  • @2009Denisem growing up in los angeles the gang's get it on but for most of the time everybody got along .. hispanics black ,thingsare outta wack today !!

  • @mryellowcrown Yep! Growin up in Brooklyn NY the same..but we all did got along!

Today is a whole different story. Peace my friend!

  • @mryellowcrown I was told that all this riff between Latinos and Blacks got started the Mexican mafia. They moved in and started turf wars based on racism. I was told this by a Latino friend of minds who grew up out there. What is you take on it. I hope this stops because, just face it, in most peoples eyes there ain't much differences between us, we both are viewed as the scum of the earth.

  • @cjfl1962 THE KIDS TODAY NEED TO STEP BACK & TASTE THE MUSIC OF THE 50 60 70'S , GROWING UP IN L.A , WE DUG ALL THE SOUL & ROCK & ROLL . THE EAST COAST BROUGHT IN THE HITS WE IN THE WEST WE"RE TRYING TO CATCH UP .. BUT WE NEED TO GET ALONG & MUSIC BRING THING TOGETHER .. WE CAN'T WE BE FRIENDS ...

  • @mryellowcrown You right, music should bring people together and be a benefit for everyone. This is one reason why I don't like gangster rap and hip-hop.

  • The beautifully forceful power of the Dramatics! First-Rate!!!

  • Which guy is Ron Banks?

  • THE ONE IN GREEN.

  • Ron Banks is in the green suite.

  • LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE THIS!

  • Kiddies, take note..this is real music, not the manufactured computer stuff we hear now. And that's includes R&B.....

  • @72cruzin Great comment!!! I couldn't agree more!

  • One of my childhood favorites, RIP Mr. Banks

  • I played bass for the Chi-Lites in the 80's, and the Dramatics were on a lot of the same gigs that we were, and I loved Ron's falsetta ever since I was a kid !! He has one of the best falsettas, in my opinion in the top 5 ever !!!

  • That looks kinda orange, and that''s Weegee, the best Dramatic !!! Rest his Soul!!

  • @4687878 You're right it does look orange, sorry... Weegee- what a voice!!! But they all had great voices.

  • I love this song. I heard it this morning on The Steve Harvey Morning show when he was paying tribute to Ron Banks. I had not heard this song in a long while.

  • To answer my own question, I think it's William 'Weegee' Howard.

  • Every one of these guys could sing fantastically! What's the guy in the red's name?

  • One of my favorites along with "Be my girl". I love this group. God Bless and may the rest of the group stay strong!

  • RIP Ron Banks:1:26-1:38 is true creativity, funk and music! One the most creative breaks in a song!

  • Damn, another great one gone, one of the best falsettos of all time R.I.P. Ron Banks

  • I be trying to TELL ALL THESE HATING ASS BITCHES, THIS SONG FITS ME PERFECT! LOL take it or leave it!

  • Squirrel in da purple is my favorite...which one is yall favorite?

  • @tory2day Hard ro decide my favarite. However for now I'll say Wee Gee, he is dynomite and tuff. But I like squirrel too his voice and stage presence reminds me of Paul Williams one of my favorite Temptations. All of the Dramatics were great vocalists and all could lead a song equally!

  • @tory2day Hard to decide my favorite but for now I'll say "Wee Gee" in da red. Squirrel is bad, and I like him too. His voice reminds me Paul Williams of the Temptations (Paul was one of my favorite Tempts). Squirell is tuff and I like his moves, However Wee Gee was an Outstanding performer/great vocalist The Dramatics definitely had 5 great lead singers!

  • This was the jam!

  • I th

  • Unfortunately, Wee Gee did pass away a few years back.
