  • This will never not give me chills...

  • he cued in a trumpet to take it up he was feeling it but was let down :( but awsome i want this arrangment

  • One way or another, I'm getting the brass section in my band to do this next marching season. MARK MY WORDS. IT WILL HAPPEN.

  • never thought i would say this but this beats any phantom warm up that ive heard

  • ... and that's how you win a Jim Ott

  • This makes me miss marching season....sigh. When our brass section played this it was my favorite part of warming up...

  • the amount intonation is unbearable

  • Oh Harloff

  • Best brass everrrr

  • Did he say soggy release?!? Are you kidding that was perfect.

  • @buzzerbeater9000 "That's how you release"

  • omg....my WHOLE body got chills :D

  • This is crazy shit , i'm a drummer

  • This with beats audio omg

  • Go go gadget HORNLINE!!!

can u please send it to me? thanks

  • @yunolks3 macknight8@gmail.com

    please???

  • Fuck em up mellos!!

  • I just arranged this. if you want sheet music. i will email it to you in a finale file. private message me.

  • @yunolks3 send it to me too! latorre@umich.edu

  • @yunolks3 Can I get a copy of this arrangement? please! larue.keith@gmail.com!

  • @weef723 the answer is right in front of you. use your ears and write it yourself. you will gain more out of it. that and most drum corps brass players don't have full scores to their book anyways..

  • @yunolks3 kylegibb@gmail.com

    please and thank you

  • Dude this never gets old. Great recording btw!!

  • Dear sweet baby jesus' mothers sisters daughter. Damn!

  • Matt Harloff

  • @tptmaster012 he said, Now thats how you release!

  • @airstylinnr I back that!

  • whats he say at the end about the release?

  • @2525franci

if i heard correct he actually said "I thought you were weak"

  • @tptmaster012 THERE IS NO WAY HE SAID THAT

  • Dat Brass

  • @DCIphanfan08 Dat Tone

  • @medeabrass1 and @DongleKumquat For that chord you were questioning, the Euphoniums played a Gb and the Tubas on an F. The Euphoniums resolved to the F.

  • @medeabrass it's dissonance written into the chord. I like to think of Crown having stabbed someone, and that dissonance is the knife twisting in the wound.

  • ORGASMIC!

  • Comment removed

  • OMG! Jesus keep me near the CROSS! I'm soooooooo proud of my corps and how far the sound has developed in the brass since I marched in 03. Totally brings tears to my eyes. Thats all you MATT!

  • damn thats just a warm up 0-0;

  • God...1:51

  • What's going on there with the contras right before the last chord? I heard this same thing from an early season video and assumed someone wasn't quite "onboard" yet.

  • @medeabrass1 It's one of their show chords. that particular chord happens near the end of their opener.

  • @medeabrass1 Its a minor second, all of the tubas play a half step away from each other and it sounds really funky.

  • Amazing said I'm blown away

  • It's amazing how just a warmup can bring tears to your eyes. So beautiful. Just absolute perfection.

  • 1:51. What a perfect entrance. It's no wonder they won brass.

  • Such pure tone. From Chaos, to order. And at 1:51, you know who is running that shit. GO CROWN!

  • "When you hear the blast of the trumpet, rush to wherever it is sounding. Then our God will fight for us!"

  • Awesome gave me chills when I watched it.

  • They're so in tune they sound like 1 tuba, 1 baritone, 1 mello, & 1 trumpet

  • @uubboy14 yes they do, but what about the split parts O.o lol EPIC MULTIPHONICS! lol

  • @MrTubanator dude heck yes!! Gotta love those contras!

  • @uubboy14 lol, yeah, you play?

  • @MrTubanator no im lead trumpet, but im brass captain for my marching band and when we do Crown's 2011 tuning sequence in arcs its absolutely amazing when the low brass comes in after high brass...especially tubas. I'm one of the few non-cocky screamers that actually appreciate low brass lol

  • @uubboy14 nice, lol, ive been trying to learn trumpet, but so far all i can do is make high squeaky noises...lol

  • @MrTubanator lol i think its harder to go from low brass to high brass than it is to go from high brass to low brass

  • 1:54 ..... yes

  • This video proves only one thing.....that the mellophones always have the best parts ;)

  • OMG AMAZING

  • Sounds too good to be true? That's because it is. At the end where we get excited, add a little synth, and there you have it.

  • shit i was wearing headphones

  • This is most unbelievable video I have ever watched. I mean, the attacks here are so clean and spot on that it sounds fake lol

  • this never gets old... I get goosebumps everytime I watch it! is it summer yet?! I'm ready for the 2012 tour!!!!

  • Absolutely amazing! This gave me chills, tears of joy, and flashbacks of my DCI days playing snare. Wow!

  • replayreplayreplayreplayreplayreplayreplayreplayreplayreplayreplayreplayreplayreplayreplayreplay...then replay again

  • If you want to be extremely picky there was a baritone/euphonium voice in the very last few moments of the embellishment that stuck out of the ensemble. Very close to perfect however =)

  • Loved the hornline this year, yes, show design ehh they could have done better

  • These are all show chords. If you listen to the show you can hear all of them at some point. The funky chord with the tubas happens at the hits at the end of the opener.

  • So cool. I wanna be in crown some day!

  • What goes on with the tubas at 2:00??? I'm guessing there's supposed to be dissonance there?!

  • @Trumphero Haha, yeah they are supposed to do that. Dissonance helps make the ensemble in tune.

  • @Trumphero i think it's written that way.

but then again, the mishap at 1:10 is hard to miss, also

  • WOW WOW WOW!

  • 1:54 is pure gold.

  • Holy jesus.

  • thats the only way to make bad intonations sound good

  • 1:45 to the end is like Red Bull.

  • "That's how you release!"

  • Arghh :) tht was nice.!!!

  • i dont have to ask if this should give me a boner

  • @112233jjooee in addition to the boner this made me cry with happyness

  • @112233jjooee I can't imagine what someone would think if they walked in on you with a boner in tears.

  • I could keep listening to this all day...

  • Matt Harloff for president!

  • OMG :O

  • Like a light switch. On. Off. No in-between.

  • oh. my. so. tasty.

  • @meetbag65 , It's a very high maj7 or a very low tonic. It's the only thing that sounds a little off tune

  • HOLY CRAP

  • so im pretty sure ive watched this video like 500 times.. why do i keep getting chills?? :D

  • Got chills through this entire video. As clean as a synthesizer.

  • Got chills through this entire video.

  • Could anyone tell me what the contras were playing at around 2:00. To me it sounds like they're are playing a crunch cord underneath the higher brass, but im not entirely sure. Im a contra player and hope to march crown next year, and im just curious.

  • @CurlingTubas The chord is a Gb major with contras playing the 7th.

  • my god...the release at 1:47 and then to keep the volume with an explosion of sound at 1:51. no question why they got the jim ott award

  • I will say, as cheesy as it may sound, that was probably the BEST moment of my entire season... Playing the shocker louder than I'd ever played and the best I've ever played. Made Matt Harloff tear up a little after that, and it was amazing.

  • I use the audio from this as my alarm clock every morning! Im never pissed off to wake up now.

  • sweet JESUS.

  • Does anyone know what the chords are at the end?

  • I wish I was in that circle....those mellos at the end AHHHHH!!!!!!!

  • God the shivers, those chord progressions nearly brought tears to my eyes!

  • Can someone explain to me the whole warm up? Even the ending? I'd appreciate it.

  • @MrBoebigz Th first part focuses on blend, intonation, and timing. The loud ending is just adding one more level of difficulty, more air. The beginning sequence is specifically designed to make the tuning stand out very clearly. The chords at the end are probably something copied out of their show. Practicing the big hits in your show by using them as warmup exercises is a common thing to do.

  • @BboyElectrix Sweet, thanks for the explanation.

  • @BboyElectrix Yep. The chords at the end are from around page 39 or something like that (been a month or so :P)

It's around the 4:10 part in the video, at the end of Symphonic Dances

    /watch?v=R0khX_hedWU&feature=related

  • Jawdropping.

  • God, 1:48-1:52 is just sick. My favorite part of this clip. Nails on the release then a big 'Up Yours' on the down beat. Jesus Christ. CMFC.

  • THE. NEW. STANDARD.

  • This is the only corps in DCI that gets more hornline lot videos on youtube than drumline haha

  • omg--theres no other words

  • That's how you release!

  • GAWD. My hair is still standing up

  • If only my director would let us play this

  • YEEEEESSSSSSSS

  • Got Overtone's?

  • Release at 1:50 is serious

  • Whoa, what a weird note to have the tubas sit on at 2:01, but then the relieved tension right after is great. Excellent warm-up routine as well, especially the first 3/4 of the vid. The end has a point as well, but come on, it's mostly to get their musical rocks off. And so it does....

  • the whole line sounds so pure and clean, and I particularly enjoy the soft, mellow, downright beautiful tone of the low brass!

  • Incredible!!! Matt, his team, and the members of this hornline just raised the bar as, in my opinion, the best hornline in DCI history from a balance, blend, intonation, and sound perspective.

  • High brass champions, no doubt!

  • goosebumps at 1:47 - on !!

  • @windone100 goosbumps from the start :P

  • Harloff is the luckiest guy on the planet.

  • You got in that circle. In the middle!!!

  • Amazing. Such clean attacks and releases, not to mention the balancing and matching of tone color.
