i have owned both the takamine and the alvarez. the takamine has much better sound plugged and unplugged.

i really cant say never owned one but,i can say this i have a martin,a taylor,and an ovation,and a 1965 alvarez ,the alvarez is the best sounding and easiest on the fingers out of all of them, i mean the sound is unbeleivable to bad they dont make em like that anymore......

OMG this guitar sounds SO beautiful, full and rich... Just that 12-strings are really troublesome to re-string and tune.

I've only played one 12-string in my life, and its a J&D. Quite a nice guitar too but no electronics and dreadnought body.
